When David Reger founded Neura Robotics, China seemed like an obvious place to grow his business. Now he's returned to Germany - where he says the appetite for industrial robots has grown. We speak to Reger about what didn't work in China and why he’s confident he can succeed at home.

His company was in China a few years ago probably because of "Made in Germany", But now he has to return to Germany probably because he needs "Made in Germany under the protection of German policies". If his Germany robot product is really powerful in the world, it is not a question of choosing where to place it, or has to go to DW to declare the robot sovereignty.😊

Germans were Dmb enough to sell their top robotic company (KUKA) to China.
@rickjames18

I agree, that seemed like the most naive and foolish decision they could have made. Selling national strategic or critical technology companies to China was idiotic. It literally allowed China to leap frog the west in some industries.

@@rickjames18 You are so easily deceived. A real national strategic technology doesn't depend on ONE product at one time but a series of products at all time! Otherwise, it is not sustainable.

@@huanghermann5207 You are right, that is why China spent decades buying companies from west. Many of which were all in critical areas and industries. Medical, aviation, auto, mineral processing, precision machinery and milling. Robotics like KUKA, any microchips or chips related company that China needed. Any gap in Chinas tech industry was given attention. Anything that was needed was acquired until now. The west after decades is finally figuring it out.

Competing with firms like Unitree Robotics is hard in China. They are planning to sell G1 their humanoid robot for $16000. We might soon see the return of more European firms back to Europe. They might try to sell it as an ode to European values and supremacy or onshoring but it will be a retreat.

They CAN but they have to stop giving away tech, trade secrets, and know how to China. They also need to lower the energy cost in Germany if industry is to keep up. China was only able to compete because the west was foolish enough to give them all the tech they needed.

tax ain't it 🤣 be proactive, I don't work in the tech industry, but have been and will be teaching myself how to code. python, html, css. quit punishing people for your inability to lead and teach them.. and instead lead them where to go and how. Not saying I have the answer, but it's certainly a better strategy than being so useless that your only solution is to let gov pick your wallet because we don't know what to do. The government can stay out of our pockets.

It sucks that germany really lacks imagination. He thinks its easier to get funded in the US but harder to keep going and see profitability with higher wages. What he seems to not grasp at all is that the funding exists for the startups and their customers too - it is a bit of a pyramid scheme, but when you have marketing powered by cocaine and jet fuel, targeting other vc backed startups, the revenue flows even for companies without much to differentiate, and the valuations grow even without revenue. (Perplexity) The tragedy of DE is that it's those who have a strong notion of what *should* work in an ideal world arent wrong, but rarely succeed.

@@solmak47 I live in Bavaria why would I cry? Wrong is wrong, does not matter who does it or where he does it. As I said before, china's industry will slowly put german industry in rather some passive state and german firms leaving china will fasten this process. Wait and see, better solution would be increasing the cooperations between two countries but germany can not take that much of free decision considering how it depends on USA politics, nothing lasts forever mate, states and empires bigger than germany diminished just because of the reason they could not update themselves and understand the zeitgeist, living in past is the most deadliest illness and only accepting the reality would save one from it. But I am also beaware that all of these things mean nothing to you, since your understanding and perspective on certain matters are narrow ,presumably, I can just tell which working class you are in and how does your daily life look like, pretty sure 9-5 salary work, if then please do not hold any fixed(not open to change) opinions on free market and entrepreneurship

@@illiminatiihtiyarheyeti7002 Dont be so sure of your predictations. Chinas economy and progress is highly volatile. There are wars out there so cooperation has to proceed with caution. Living in past is indeed a deadly illness but living in future delusions can be the source of a massive downfall yet to come. China can easily follow Russias way.
@illiminatiihtiyarheyeti7002
@illiminatiihtiyarheyeti7002 10 сағат бұрын
@@sobsag you are forgetting a point, at this pace China can not become like Russia, because China's hunger for capital is bigger than ever, in order to become Russia you have to risk losing foreign investment. China has not got any option than being globalised and capitalised, I would say China's situation is way more fragile than Russia, actually you can visualise it as elephant and cat falling free from certain height, which one has a better chance of survival, so getting bigger does not mean always having resilience, China will not only become a regional player, with the moves in Africa and foreign investment loop there, it will play global soon, even they have different type of government with USA, if you get big you have to keep it big and the rules are simple you can not close your country to others.
