You sir have inspired me. I have a BMW 1250 GSA and want to do a trip from Texas to NC and stay in camping areas. This is the perfect solution for that trip. Thank you,

To add to my last comment My wife got us three suitcases that fit across/side to side and I can still fit the blue and white cooler in the trailer. That way when you stop at a hotel, you just grab the suitcases. No fussing about. I have updated the bearings and added bearing buddies.

I have the Lumina XL trailer also and love it. I hammock camp and use a secondary larger tarp for above my main tarp for sun and heat protection. I also have a stove for my hammock hot tent if needed. As well as the Lumina XL I have the Rally wagon motorcycle trailer for more options with the open trailer design vs the box trailer. When I run empty with my Lumina XL I have never noticed any bouncing. You may want to try playing with your air pressure in the tires and also make sure your ball hitch is high or low enough so the trailer is as close to level as possible from tongue to tail. Running a level trailer will make for a much nicer ride and pull of the trailer with less risk of fishtailing the trailer. I run a ball with the swivel hitch on my trailers and love it.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't hammock camped in years. What hammock do you use? I've heard some are flat. Two different types of trailers sounds great. What pressure do you have in the trailer tires?
@grounded736218 күн бұрын
@AdventureswithRedbeard I sleep full time in a hammock, even at home. I have a Hennessy jungle hammock but haven't used in years. Planning to get it modified to a side entrance full zip bug net , rather than the fixed bug net with bottom entrance. I use my dutchware gathered end full time with a full bug net from another company and rain fly from yet another as well as using my canvas hot tent shelter over top of everything for greater coverage and Sun protection as well as heat dissipation. Am looking at try yet another hammock hot tent that is like a floorless tent that can open wide open. As far as tire pressure I believe I am running at about 50 psi. In the trailer tires and 40 psi in both front and rear tires on my 2017 Road King FLHR. No trunk, just saddlebags and only a windshield. Solo seat with small rack over the fender and sissy bar for strapping on a dry bag . I am planning to add a battery holder and solar panel to the trailer this coming season for running a solar water circulating pump for when I distill drinking water, for circulating cool water through the condenser kettle. I could also use the pump for a shower setup. I live in northern Minnesota and still work full time so my riding season has come to an end for this year. Once I retire I will be traveling full time on the bike and working out what is going to fit me best for my setup right now. Work the bugs out now before I go full time 😁✌️

@@AdventureswithRedbeard I have to correct myself on the tire pressure. I was thinking about the pressure I run on my single place motorcycle trailer I also use as a utility trailer behind the car. Once the weather gets nice again I will have to see where I am running for pressure. I might not even be up to 35 psi. ✌️

@@grounded7362 Sounds like you have a great setup there. How long do you have before you retire and go full-time?
@grounded736212 күн бұрын
I have three years before I hit early retirement at 62. I am slowly working out the bugs in my setup so once I go full time on the bike I don't have to be fiddling with things that might frustrate.

Do you have a spare tire for your trailer and, if so, how is it mounted? Thank you.
@AdventureswithRedbeard3 ай бұрын
I do not. My dad has one and so far he has just strapped it to the lid of the trailer. I've seen some people with it under the trailer and I tend toward that idea. I do keep a patch kit with me. Only had to use it once on the Goldwing.

How does the Lumina detailed perform in the rain ? Does it leak. ?

I haven't ridden with it in heavy rain, but I've had no leaks with moderate rain. One day when I was camping it was very heavy rain and no leaks while staying in the campsite.

Why not get a block of aluminum , cut it in half ,& run a grade #8 bolt through it, or even stainless steel ? It will be thicker and /or stronger than a bushtec hitch ..it dosen't need bearings cause it will rarely turn . I did exactly this to a piece of round stock that fit my round trailer tongue . it works great, & costs next to nothing , protecting you from twisting your hitch when you turn beyond about 35 degree's , or if you drop your bike..
