Hello Hannah Sthill - thanks for raising this. The initial inspiration for making David was ignited as Phil Cunningham (Director) read the scriptural account of David's life, and we are very passionate about bringing this story to screen in a way that is as authentic to the Biblical text. This passion has fueled four trips to Israel so far, and we have engaged deeply with Biblical scholars and archaeologists (and continue to do so), as we continue to refine our script. We hope you'll love the final result and find it authentic and entertaining! To find out more about our Director's hearts, please watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYDIqoaYe9plnLs

I hope your team realizes that the story is good enough on its own without trying convert your audience! I'm sure there will be some embellishment for artistic purposes. But as long as it stays within the boundaries of the biblical narrative like The Prince of Egypt did (without adding in tropes from other bible stories or later theological developments), then I'm all for supporting it and I'm sure other people will as well. And don't forget the Hebrew subtitles on the DVD release for our Israeli friends! If these things are done, I know you will be successful in your endeavors. Can't wait to see Esther as well! "Preachy" is a subjective term. This is a form of art and everyone will be a critic. Maybe it's better to adjust your own expectations of how you think it should be done and instead allow the artists to make art that meets their vision.

The Holy Ghost pours out his Spirit and brings the increase in the name of Jesus. The latter rain proceeds the second coming and it is what waters the seed. Without the Spirit of God no one is saved. Believe in your idea of Jesus till the end of time, it does little good. You need to accept his ambassador and representative. So when the Holy Spirit shows himself and is rejected that is the unpardonable sin. To grieve the Spirit of God is to reject life. The supreme witness of Jesus Christ (King David) is reporting for duty. He was a man whose tongue held no lies, For he was the direct descendant of our father in the heavenly skies. Born to a body of fleshy sin, Though what laid beneath was unlike the rest of his kin. Jesus had the utmost grace, Never being wavered by evils face. He was wise beyond any years, Performing miracles that would bring crowds to tears. A beacon of light on top of a starless mountain, Where words of wisdom poured out of him as if there ran a cosmic fountain. His eyes pierced through you with a single glance, Leaving even the most hardened individuals in quite the trance. The Holy Spirit so ever majestically flowed inside this man, Naturally people caught notice and became a fan. Students began showing up from every mold, When they heard his words their hearts were sold. Wicked men put a price on Jesus's head, He was wanted alive or dead. Despite this he and his disciples continued their teachings, Where on occasion they endured terrible beatings. One of the twelve apostles turned to black, No longer having Jesus's back. Judas Iscariot had done Satan's bidding, And it is in hell where he now is sitting. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our shortcoming, However don't be saddened for if you believe in him you will see him at your homecoming. There he sits at the right hand of God's throne, Being the voice of truth and love that we all have known. Satan's tongue is coated in a layer of deceit, And he tramples over promises with his feet. He's a being who is bound by deceptions, Whose very essence oozes with misconceptions. He struggles to look you in your eyes, For his gaze holds nothing but lies. On occasion he will give you his hand, But don't be fooled by his stand. He seeks to corrupt your heart, You would be wise to avoid him from the start. Seeking quick pleasures and casting aside love, He traverses this land with push and shove. Now Lucifer was once not lost, But pride blinded him at a cost. Disobeying God he waged war, Becoming detestable to the core. Today he is the ruler of Earth, Though for all his power he has no real worth. However most of us have still been sold, Giving into sin and becoming cold. Nearly everyone is a puppet dancing on strings, Marching to delusion for their unjust kings. My people have given into lust, Becoming robots full of rust. However you my child are the exception, So when you meet me don't forget to mention. That you alone have been granted the key, And before your glory they shall all bend a knee. P.S.- Not too long ago I was very bitter and destructive. Literally I was covered in blood from head to toe and ripping off nails and things of that nature. In my mind Jesus was against me, he had a vendetta against me which I couldn't account for. Then slowly but surely I started having these revelations, and began delving into the word of God. It seemed like my agony was not in vain. The things which held me back eventually began to propel me forward. The darkness began fading away and an unspeakably bright light was surfacing. Jesus told me that he had to break me in order for me to rediscover who I really was. Sort of like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Today I am almost fully healed in every conceivable way, and things like being a virgin and being covered in scars I strangely enough take much pride in. I took up my cross and followed Christ and in doing so I discovered the greatest love of all.

Guys, why do we have to make up “cliff-diving David” when the Biblical David is so exciting as it is?!? Revelation 22:18 ESV I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,

There’s a lot to unpack about Cliff-Diving David: a series of visual metaphors about how Jesus is prefigured by David as the Fine Shepherd who surrenders his soul in behalf of his sheep, but also how God did not leave His Loyal One, the Lamb Of God, in the pit, to see corruption. The shepherd, spread-eagled on the rock, is prefigured by Isaac. Then, there are many details about Bible times, and in prophecies which are woven into this moment like a stained-glass window of visual references, from Scriptures like 1 Samuel 24:1-3 As soon as Saul returned from pursuing the Phi·lisʹtines, they told him: “Look! David is in the wilderness of En-gedʹi.” So Saul took 3,000 men chosen from all Israel and went to look for David and his men on the rocky cliffs of the mountain goats. Saul came to the stone sheepfolds along the road... Psalm 91:11-12, 14-15 For he will give his angels a command concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will carry you on their hands, So that you may not strike your foot against a stone. God said: “Because he has affection for me, I will rescue him. I will protect him because he knows my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in distress.” Isaiah 33:15-16 The one who walks in continual righteousness, Who speaks what is upright, Who rejects dishonest, fraudulent gain, Whose hands refuse a bribe rather than grabbing it, Who closes his ear to talk of bloodshed, And who shuts his eyes to avoid seeing what is bad - He will reside in the heights; His secure refuge will be in rocky strongholds, His bread will be provided, And his water supply will never fail. Psalm 34:17-20 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

Stop trying to race swap characters, and stop black washing a historically Caucasian people. How would you feel if we tried to say "don't black wash the African people in a movie about an African" and started trying to turn him and the African people white, well that is exactly what is happening when people like you do that. I've spent time with King David and talked to him face to face while in Heaven, and He was white just like King Solomon HIS SON in scripture just like the other Hebrews the Lord has shown me. I've seen the 12 tribes of Israel from Mount Sinai in vision, and they were indeed a Caucasoid people. The Hebrews were not an African people, Israel is on the Asian continent, but that doesn't matter, focus on your relationship with Jesus Christ before it's to late, the color of your flesh can't save you only Jesus can do that. Again, we have scripture that tells us that King Solomon was "white and ruddy" and he is the son of King David (it is also symbolic for Christ i believe), but please stop worrying about your skin color, there's nothing great about the color of your flesh or mine. Song of Solomon 5:10 King James Version 10 My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand.

@@brotherjason8598 The Bible (Miqra) is a book that originated in the Middle East and was written by Middle Eastern peoples. That being said, I'm all for Superman and Little Mermaid continuing to be portrayed as white characters, as that was the original design by their creators. I'm also for characters like Black Panther and Cyborg continuing to be portrayed as black, because again, that is how they were first drawn by their creators. What I'm not for, is cherry picking verses to try and paint any biblical character as "black" or "white." There are plenty of verses that can be used by cherry pickers to support their own brand of racism. I am simply advocating for portraying characters in the scripture that are commensurate with the demographics of that region during that period in time. Which historically speaking, King David (PBUH) could have never been completely caucasian, nor completely negroid in his complexion. The Prince of Egypt by Dreamworks really got the color palette correct for Middle to Late Bronze-Age Middle Eastern peoples, and it has been one if not the most celebrated biblical theatrical releases of all time. Be historically accurate! That's all we're saying. Enough with the presumptuous distortions of Western theological elitists.

The Yemenites haven’t lives in Israel for thousands of years and they look like middle eastern. And what about North African Jews like from they also show to be from Israel.
