It is not the "lesser evil" it is a joint effort. Democrats manage populations for cheapest labor, feeding a steady diet of ideologies and herding them through institutions. Republican's handle commerce and corporations. Two sides of the same coin. Both working for the PAC. Defund Political Parties and Politicians.

When I see Baldwin speak of being “terrified of the moral apathy”, when I see Kwame Ture speak of how “liberals defend the law and order of the oppressor”, I’m no longer shocked at the out right liberal indignation towards people protesting and people refusing to vote. I’m just more and more incensed. No human life should hold a false superiority over another. There’s this implied sense of intrinsic value that Americans, and the Western world in general likes to uphold when the fascism gets harder to ignore domestically. “Let me get my rights first, and then I got you.” Weird how MLK literally pointed out that line of thinking was basically an attempt at kicking the can down the road, and now we’re supposed to believe that we can only trust this system if we just get the same institutions that have willingly subjugated countless POC, indigenous, and black people to innumerable horrors domestically already, will actually help us this time. Just like ALLLLLL the other times. It’s asinine to continue to advocate for this house of cards and act like if we just change the face of imperialism to a darker one, all our problems will be fixed. Imperialism is still imperialism. Voting for a genocide supporter just makes you a genocide supporter, whether you want to acknowledge that or not. No one should be sacrificed for the rights of others, that’s just some colonizer bs. Great video as always Prince, got chills when you showed that 2016 clip of yourself interrupting Clinton.

The conflict between liberation and liberalism goes back as long as the US itself. The history that's mostly untold, like you say, about how our "democracy" is pretty evil, actually, is a big part of that. American Puritanism infected colonialist science. And that has in turn influenced all of our modern institutions, including Democrats and Republicans alike. Democrats are absolutely not a weaker enemy. Nothing in American history makes any sense without acknowledging the role of genocide. That's also why you can't make any sense of what's happening with Boeing, a company which is obviously violating some number of laws or regulations, without understanding it's relationship to the US Government, and genocide. I think it's important to be specific about what is functional praxis. Building alternative institutions that will allow for more autonomy is important, but it isn't something that can be done in an instant. It isn't actually a solution for what's happening, right now. I think that, if there's to be an election where people rise up to demand a viable alternative, those alternatives need to be seriously built up years ahead of time, and the movements behind them need to be at the center of the entire election cycle. Right now, the "uncommitted" movement behind the DNC protests is the closest thing we have to that. But the single issue nature of that movement makes it non-ideal for a full-scale anarchist platform, in my opinion. The biggest logical issue I have with your argument is the supposition there's an "ideal" candidate you could vote for. It's important to articulate what policies you'd want, of course. But the danger is the mistaken idea that any such things as a "good president" is possible. This is the root of the issue, with liberal democracy. It's an idealized form of a State that governs people's lives, and as such has all the inherent problems of being a State. Including the major issue of "authorized knowledge", the category that determines who is, and is not, a part of the people. Who gets to live and die. There's no such thing as a liberal democracy that is truly free, because States are built on the consolidation of power through death. That's why it's a lie that you should vote based on your authentic political beliefs. You should voice your authentic political beliefs. But being critical of voting is important, actually, because your vote is caged in the system that it exists in. I agree with most of your predictions about Harris. But two things can be true at once. You can vote for Harris, to ensure that our liberal democracy continues. And, simultaneously, you can criticize the failures of that democracy. It's not about choosing the "lesser evil". It's about taking actions that will produce outcomes. We aren't going to eventually end up with a liberal government that's oppressive; we already have one. It's just a question of what to do with it. "Why would I want to participate?" Because any tool you have against the State is one you should wield to your utmost ability. Not participating only benefits the system. What is your desired outcome here? What, exactly, is non-voting supposed to accomplish? One argument for voting 3rd party is that the numbers could be pronounced enough to influence Democrats in the future to be more open to 3rd party candidates (though I personally think that's kinda bull). But at least voting 3rd party is recorded, in the numbers. But look at how non-voters are documented. It's usually focused on categorizing who is eligible and able enough to vote from who isn't. The issues non-voters have always go unacknowledged, because they're outside the domain of "authorized knowledge." That's why I feel like, without a large-scale anarchist movement to make visible, not voting accomplishes nothing. Don't get me wrong, I think that this video and all your other work is super valuable. Pressuring Harris with criticism like this is one of the most important things we can be doing on the left, I think. Protesters outside the DNC were able to pressure Harris into actually allowing them to host a panel at the convention. This is an example of the kind of "meaningful outcome" I mean. It's not as idealistic an outcome as people are saying, though. This is definitely the result of Harris's intentional negotiations behind the scenes to try and keep the protests as tame as possible, which should be acknowledged for what it is: an act of undermining resistance. But it's not just saying "shut up", at least. It's not a policy change, but it's definitely movement towards something. And there's no reason your work couldn't lead to the same, too, even if you do choose not to vote. newrepublic.com/post/185012/kamala-harris-dnc-historic-panel-palestine

not participating in the system benefits the system, and participating in the system is actually a tool we wield against it...please make it make sense. neither of these candidates are interested in (worker/etc) democracy, neither of them are going to make resistance easier, and Harris went and blocked a Palestinian speaker they originally promised a slot as she let one of Trump's folks & Contra descendant, a border patrol officer, and a fuckin CEO on aswell as an Israeli who they brought up there to speak about hostages at the DNC. not voting is not participation, sometimes it is something blocked by the state intentionally to control votes and sometimes its people willfully abstaining from participation, yes. but the reason folks fought for voting rights was for the ability TO participate in the system and have some say over matters, to be further included within the state and empire as citizens and not just its victims/subjects, not to be free from it. please do not conflate liberation and integration because it will lead you to some very confusing contradictions (is it "liberation" for U.S women, trans, and nonwhite folks to be allowed to participate in U.S military or government affairs?). integration is for survival and to lessen the ails of being oppressed but it is not a cure. you are an anarchist, so please do not start tripping for Harris dawg 😭😭😭 she represents much of the same horrid shit trump does and shes made her whole career off being a prime cheerleader of incarceration and the prison industrial complex.

I hope to inspire with the suggested video in the following response. Would love to hear what you think of it. And maybe you could also post your comment as an answer to many of the commentors. Doubt many of his viewers will otherwise read what you said so well. A suggestion, please ignore if I overstepped in doing that. My answer/comment: Dear Prince Shakur, I am someone who, for many election rounds, did not vote in her own country. My reasons, though not the same, were comparable to yours and those of your viewers - I feel you so much and You Are Right: there is not enough historical knowledge, governments are not here for us and actual solutions need finding. Solutions that need evolution first and we might differ here, but I am convinced that they need to come after this immediate fascistic threat has been de-energised. In the meantime please allow me to suggest one youtube video + one fact. I'm constantly seeing videos of our "representatives" refusing to speak to, being dismissive towards, and figuratively spitting in the faces of the people they're supposed to fight for. If you ask me they're supposed to have an uncommon level of grace and understanding to be able to properly represent and guide their constituents. It's plain to see that a large number of them are lacking in both areas. And I guess that's a big cause of the problem, we expect people to do things for us even when we won't do them for ourselves. If we don't care enough to do anything why should they? Why shouldn't they just use power to further their own ends? What reason or consequence could they even conceive of? People who just want to be left alone will always lose to the ones who want to win. The meaning of life is to struggle, and the sooner we accept the idea that we'll always have one battle or another, the sooner we can make real changes happen. There can be no era of peace and rest unless it is followed by one of strife and suffering.

The thing is here is that numerous states have their respective DNCs have gone about purging (or attempting to purge) the Green Party (Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina). Also, third party politics in the states generally align with campist ideals (Jill Stein backing Russian and pro-Trump contararian and SA perpetrator Assange, as well as the PSL and their counterrevolutionary aspirations) or just vanity projects from figures like Cornel West and RFK Jr before the latter dropped out. I get the appeal of third-party votes and ideally that would be more reasonable, but it has its shortcomings that would involve a mass mobilization that many are unwilling to do (and one I would rather spend outside of electoralism imo).

Saw you on Oley's panel on Harris, where I felt that you did a solid job representing a perspective similar to mine. As a long term Bernie supporter, I still have a sliver of faith that a leftist can win the White House and shift the Democratic Party as much as 45 did the Republican Party. This is why I support Cornel West. I don't care what his odds look like. I am only willing to give my votes to candidates who truly speak to the uplifting of the most vulnerable among us. West has that message, which resonates strongly within me. Harris appears poised to continue to support a genocide, and the way the DNC erased the voices of Palestinians during the convention was telling. I refuse to support a candidate bragging about crafting a more lethal military. My last lesser of two evils vote was cast, to no avail, in 2016. If a candidate wants my vote, their words and actions need to be stronger than the other guy is bad. Respect to you for your focus on organizing. It seems it will take mass movements focused on collective support to shift things given our current political system. I think people who accept that reality are wise. Maintain that wisdom.

This video was so needed. I have been very frustrated with self-proclaimed prison and police abolitionists (including those that have platforms in (Black) KZbin video essayist spaces) who are chastising people who refuse to support Harris like liberals. And then they try to absolve themselves of being reactionaries because they've said and done good things. On Black August, no less. The DNC had cops from Flint, MI and San Antonio, TX implicitly affirm the harm they do to Black and Brown folks. Or Kamala citing the harm officers faced on J6 being her first concern with Project 2025. Or Kamala using the passive voice when mentioning the geno-ide in Gaza but the active voice for Hamas' attack on Israel on 10/7. And wanting to create (or maintain) the most lethal military in the world. So much more issues I could list. But liberals, progressives, and leftists (whatever that term means anymore) are shouting down people who are maintaining radical politics and traditions and calling for a desire to organize outside of electoral spaces. Including our ostensible allies. It makes me sad that the Obama years has taught many nothing because of fear and an unhealthy attachment to representation politics. This is a hopeful video and affirming in that there are folks (especially other Black queer folks) doing the work. Thank you! I will purchase the Black Radical reader too and use it in my courses!

@@oatmilkgirll I was actually referring to Olayemi Olurin and her reactionary takes on social media sites. FD imo in contrast doesn't position himself as an abolitionist as his praxis, he's at best an "advocate" (I feel he's open to it but not really entrenched in its ideals) in the same way she did (confronting Eric Adams and whatnot), so her reactionary behavior is really irresponsible with a platform advocating for abolition while promoting a "top cop" candidate and critiquing people who critique Kamala disingenuously. I was disappointed in FD's video too, though. An over emphasis on white leftists critiquing Kamala (which is and can be a problem, but shouldn't be *the* main concern about issues with her presidential campaign) and not coming for ne(gro)liberals defending her. It's like Obama but worse. The video example of the white dude critiquing her wasn't even bad. He didn't rattle off some misogynyoir, he didn't even specifically call out Black folks or Black liberals (which would've been out of bounds for sure)...He just called her a cop, which is, true.

Whatsapp has been off my phone ever since because zuckerberg has anything to do with it, I don't have social media apps on my phone, whatever non-difference that makes. Just... These Eton educated little twerps are lauging, literally laughing, at how easy it is to let people not vote so yacht owners can have their way more easily. Harris would sell us off to the yacht owners in a minute I am sure - and if not her, prolly someone else in the blue party - but I no longer let the turning in my stomach over this or that politician blind me to the levels of how much deeply worse it will get down the line (!) of international and local policy for years if not forever if trump and cronies grab power back this time. If he gets the throne back he will not let go until he dies and the damage he will do in the short time before that will make it impossible for us to even write to eachother on a platform like this anymore. The minute the green party gains any relevance whatsoever they will become another tool of capital, if they aren't already. The problem with electoralism is simply not that the right candidates or the right parties haven't come along. The problem is that any ruling party in a liberal democracy is fundamentally a tool of ruling class oppression. Jill Stein is not going to defund the police or abolish prisons, she's not going to stop the American imperial project, she won't stop anything that US capital actually cares about. Those things cannot be done through electoralism

Are you willing to concede that the position of vice president is ceremonial? Your opinions on Kamala, lack the nuance you hope people have for you. It's sad that it's mainly black men engaging in this. You left out the fact that she was the only top cop to go after big banks for the 08 crash. When she went to the senate, she pen and sponsored bill to reduce the protections of banks. I don't agree with Kamala on most things, (her positions flip flop a lot) but something about this piece feels like misogynior. A lot of the things Kamala spoke about policywise, you said you would vote for. You know she wrote the "George Floyd Justice in Police Act", she supported the child tax credit. You're giving James Baldwin, Nicki Giovani vibes right now. Kamala telling the protestors, "I am speaking," had a lot more to the statement. Also a lot more nuance. This is a black woman, in a white male space being shouted down. I agree with the protestors, I also agree with black woman holding and protecting thier space. Nuance. Your statements on what she should have done, feels like tone policing black expression. The lesser of two evil narratives is bs. I agree with your takes on foreign policy. I say this as a Caribbean person born and raised. The Caribbean which was meant to be one whole country called "Union", but the Monroe doctrine stopped that dead in it's tracks.Just the approach of this piece isn't as nuanced as you have established yourself to be. Maybe take a step back and ask yourself why.

You literally said you'd vote for someone who championed the things she and Tim Waltz SUPPORTS, voted for and penned bills on. I am willing to bet you never did RESEARCHED on her voting record. Your "Who is Kamala" section said nothing about WHO SHE IS. You spoke more about yourself, than her in that section. Textbook misogynoir. "Nuance for me, not thee black woman. Proper representation for me, not thee black woman.". This isn't helping the exaggerated image Caribbean men have with misogynoir... Hi, black woman here. Criticizing Kamala Harris is not misogynoir in the slightest. She is not a good person and she is just as bad as the white men in charge, only difference is she has her race and her feminity to hide under. It's a shame that misogyny and other kinds of bigotry exist bcos it makes it hard to criticize people like Kamala or Hilary. Also, the whole 'I'm speaking' shit is not nuanced in the slightest. The ppl protesting are ppl who have had their families murdered in this ongoing genocide and they're rightfully calling her out on her silence and complicity. What is nuanced about that? She could have handled the whole situation with poise but she decided to girlboss her way thru it. 'I'm speaking' can walk when a white man is trying to interrupt her but not when victims of genocide are demanding a little empathy and accountability. If that is too nuanced for you then I don't know what isn't.

With that man in office, you wanna go back to slavery or do you wanna do the right thing because Donald Trump he doesn’t like Black people he even said that he didn’t like Black people his grandfather was a member of the KKK. His daddy was a member of the KKKand he was friends with the Graham Wizard of the KKK

Trump did what Kamala promises to do.Black-owned businesses in the United States grew at an average rate of 4.2% per year from 2016-2020, which is more than 20 times the overall business growth rate of 0.18%. The growth was greatest between 2018 and 2019, when the number of Black-owned businesses increased by 8%. However, growth slowed to 4.7% between 2019 and 2020, which may have been due to the pandemic's early effects on foreclosure rates and investment decisions. Plus record black unemployment. Media never talks about what Trump actually did . Don't talk about his or Republicans actual agendas on their websites. But talk endlessly about project 2025 that isn't a Trump or official Republican document.

I think any person who legitimately believes this is about a lesser evil or weaker adversary is focused on the real work through most of their advocacy. If you believe either but then fixate on advocating about the election, then you're advocating for evil under your own standards. I have one day I dedicate to the election, and that's on the day I vote, and anyone who doesn't is absolutely fine by me.

Trump did the job before and he can do it again. He's our best choice at this point, Kamala flip flops on to much and she hasnt actually talk policies at all. You are a bright young man and will have a big future ahead of you. Im sure if you keep going, Trump will speak to you 1 on 1. Im not trying to get you to vote for Trump either, heck i dont even know who im voting for yet all i do know is that i must trust that God has a plan for what is happening. May you stay healthy and blessed.
