There’s a lot of TV money involved, Supercar racing coverage is popular on pay TV in the US, as well as the Uk and Europe. But it’s the uS pay TV money that’s important, hence Mustangs and Camaros are a great choice and wii attract lots of fans. One of the reasons that the Manufacturers are insisting that the cars profile is the same as production. Unlike our 4” shorter commodores and blimp topped Falcons from Gen 2.

"Doesn’t this devoid the statement - race on Sunday, sell on Monday. " That statement has not applied to Australian "Touring" car racing for the last 30 years. 1993 rule changes to get rid of the skylines is what tossed that statement in the bin. As for parity racing, the argument is that it puts the winner back on the driver and not the car. Compare Supercars to say F1. Supercar races are a LOT closer and more exciting than the predictable procession that F1 has been over the past 20 years or so.

That's because it's not. They are just greedy and are hoping by keeping the name that they can keep the fans blindly following without putting the effort in to market it as a new series and attract fans. If they had have made something new i would have respected that but this shows how lazy they are and i find it very jarring.

It is foolish to Europeanize Australia's Supercars. Holden is gone, and now down force. WTF!!!! What's next? Lead Ballast for winners as reward for their efforts? Surf board thick plank to destroy downforce further?
@scottpodesta43402 жыл бұрын
I think it's backwards thinking with the direction of supercars. Cars now with 60% less downforce. That mean slower into corners and exit. Unstable cars with wasted power. What's the point. I want to see more downforce more corner speed that means more competitive races. Typical Australian backwards thinking.

My exit of interest is now complete. F1 is way more interesting and fun. I won't be watching anymore.
@MattyS022 жыл бұрын
More downforce leads to less passing, like F1, where they can't pass without DRS. Less downforce, and therefore less aero wash, means cars can follow each other closer without a performance drop off and actually make passing manoeuvres.
@ROWSELLTV2 жыл бұрын
This is so backwards, this years cars are hard enough to drive let alone taking 60% downforce away.. all this is going to do is put more cars in the fence next year, all these drivers will be hunting the grip they are used to and itll cost some people some money.. Supercars are trying to build a worse car then this year. and by the comments of the fulltime drivers i think they've achieved that . sorry not sorry
@kiwicam64192 жыл бұрын
I hope the teams will be smart enough to recognise that and drive to the new limits. It will cost them of they don't.

Crashes get highlights in the sport segment of the news. A smashed car will get more viewers than a podium shot.
@MattyS022 жыл бұрын
You think these drivers aren't good enough to realise that maybe they'll have to take it back and build up to the new limits? Maybe also the amount of downforce the current cars have would allow them to go into corners with too much confidence and make mistakes? Very short sighted comment.

Maybe the car isn't that interesting to Australians. They will probably see it and think it looks pretty but there is no attachment to it, it is foreign.

These cars are truly awesome, but I really do miss the days where the better car and driver won on the day, causing the competitors to up their game in response. Constant leap-frogging made it exciting and pushed the boundaries. This formulaic racing leaves me a bot cold.

And that’s how you ruin racing but matching two different cars to go to same speed same error dynamics should just come to the track with your car the other car same thing and race

For all this testing to make for closer racing there is only one thing that will keep the field closer. . . . It’s called a safety car. It’s ruined motorsports.
