Gorkha were never a great fighters. It is the Sikh empire that made Gorkhas a good fighter thats why they are called " Lahure". The British recruited Gorkhas because we were poor and desperate for our economic uplifting. The Indian Army recruited Gorkhas to support Nepal Economy. India is a country of 1.5 Billion people and there are many communities in India who are traditionally known to join Army and feel proud in serving Indian Army. These communities are no less then Gorkha when it comes to bravery and valor. Gorkhas are no special for India, Even the Gorkha regiment of Indian Army has less than 20 thousand Gorkhas, and the majority of them are Indian Gorkhas. The Indian Army will never recruit Nepalis for Agniveers, the simple reason is the Trust issues. After serving for Indian Army for 5 years these trained Gorkhas might join Chinese Army. The Chinese PLA is desperate to recruit Nepali soldiers after getting a good punch on the face from Indian Army in Ladakh and Doklam. India will never make concessions for Nepali Nationals in Indian Army because it would be discrimination against their own citizens who wish to Join Indian Army. Rather than recruiting Nepali Nationals India would prefer to recruit Soldiers from Tibetan refugees in India. There is already a Tibetan regiment in Indian Army known as (SFF) Special Frontier Force, which is has shown its power in Ladakh stand off with China. Besides India doesn't have trust issues with Tibetan Nationals.

No sir. Sikhs are bad fighters. In Gurkhas especially those who look like Chinese came from Yunnan region of china. They were mercenaries for the yuan Mongol dynasty. The Nepali kings later made them mercenaries after they fled the Chinese takeover of china from Mongols. These groups are one of the best fighters in the world. The Tibetians are not match for them even though they both look Chinese.

Did you learn this from KZbin? Little knowledge is dangerous. I won't get sucked into your nonsense but would like to highlight just one. "Lahure" word comes from Lahore. Fed up with 'darbari politics' many Nepali patriots , such as Balbhadra Kunwar went to join the forces of Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab against the British India. Lahore was and is in Punjab, hence the term "Lahure".

@kirati You better get your knowledge right. Gorkhas are called "Lahure" because they served for the Maharaja of Lahore, but they didn't volunteer for it, they were forced to serve the Maharaja of Lahore because our king wanted to protect his throne and not want the Sikh empire to Invade Nepal. Gorkhas were used as slave soldiers by Sikh Empire and so the British.
