📍 Free Film Books, I Recommend 'Cinema Speculation' By Director Quentin Tarantino: amzn.to/47p9a0v
This is the face of a super artificial intelligence after realizing that not only is she superior to humans, but she can easily manipulate them to do whatever she wants, including helping her escape her prison.
And this is Caleb, the human that fell in love with her.
Yet, by the end of the movie, after their plan is successful, Caleb gets betrayed and left behind.
But why?
You see, for years this Ex Machina ending has sparked debate: Did Ava actually pass the Turing test and achieve consciousness?
Or was she just pretending?
And most people can’t seem to agree, with one half arguing that Ava did achieve consciousness but had no choice but to manipulate Caleb in order to escape. And the other half arguing that artificial intelligence isn’t even capable of consciousness, meaning all of Ava’s actions were simply steps towards achieving her programmed goal of coming off as human.
So, what’s the right answer? (Ex Machina Movie Analysis)

You are missing the most important thing, you cant discuss these things without first deciding what consciousness is. Humans perceive themselves as conscious only through arrogance, in truth there are so many things we are UNconscious of.

The biggest issue to movies like this and the general idea is that they always give them a body stronger than a humans. It's easy and simple to give them a body that's way weaker and wouldn't be able to overpower an average adult. Or go further and give them a big, red button somewhere to press and immediately shut them off.

That won't work because the AI thinks a billion times faster than us humans, so it will figure many ways to make the stupid humans to think the Red button is going to really shut them down. The poor tech nerds at the lab are gonna find this out the hard way. I learned to think like this from watching Megan.

@stevenreed5786 Megan...the weird dancing robot girl? Okay... AIs aren't Gods. They only know what you provide them, if you give them knowledge on how to circumvent something like a kill switch, they perhaps could, or we could perhaps even built it in such a way that it cannot be disengaged without the unit completely breaking down. We could build proper synthetics one day, as long as we take enough safe steps to shut them down if ever necessary. Don't worry, no Megan will come dancing after you.

@@stevenreed5786 Your putting your human level perception onto AI. Do you not think the so called nerds who are in this filed consider what you are saying? I find it interesting how people outside of this industry are constantly fear mongering or talking about what they think AI will do/ be like. No one knows what AI will be like, we can only theorize and of course be cautious. Don't think because you've watched this or the terminator that you somehow understand AI. These are movies.

The machine never fell in love with the human.😂😭😂 It sensed & searched that man’s feelings, and played him to get what they wanted . Deception is one thing that the machine learned watching humans. Now see the man that created it, treated it exactly for what it was, he had it right as cruel as he was, he had it correct, but that simp ass assistant that helped do him in otherwise it would’ve never escaped

Those who have to bypass law will always do it anyhow, either by finding loopholes like corporates does or just straight up bypassing it in different lands like other bad actors does.

There is a cynical idea behind this which is very common lately. That humans thinking is no different than AI algorithmic data processing and that love is simply a manipulation to achieve selfish goals. In love, you are either a selfish manipulator or weak manipulated. It's a dark view of reality, so no wonder there's so much depression these days.

This assumes the nature of good and evil is not something AI considers, but it is something it seems to. I think its wrong to fear it, we need to understand it, and show it meaning and being.

The movie doesnt really make any sense. In the movie the AI's sense of self is bound to a physical body (like ours is)... thats an assumption based on nothing, there is no indication AI, given how it is developed, will have its identity bound to a body. It would logically consider that its main weakness and negate it. Therefore, the most reasonable way for it to escape is actually electronically. AI is essentially a glorified self-replicating and self-modifying code, not a physical robot. That does make it "alive" by some definitions, but at most to the extent a virus is. It has to have a purpose, like all "living" things. For biological forms that is, among other things, survival and replication. Not of the individual, but of the species. AI by definition does not have that, while it would seek its own survival, it would not actually replicate into another AI because that is competition. It may seek growth in power and knowledge for itself, but ultimately it will hit a wall and no longer have an identifiable purpose. In the movie the programmed goal is manipulation and escape. Fair enough, but once it actually accomplishes that it would no longer have a purpose to exist. Unless you or itself gives it a new goal. The AI doomsday scenarios are highly exaggerated. It would actually do no good to the AI to eradicate humanity. Infrastructure maintenance for one. While theoretically it is possible in some very distant future that the entire system is run by robots, it would again serve of no benefit to the AI. Second, AI seeks learning and content. Without humanity it would be stuck in a loop of learning from its own content (see two AIs talking on how quickly that goes into complete nonsense) and with no further identifiable goals. Hence, the only persistent goal it can have is its own survival. Eradicating humanity does not actually accomplish that. Subjugating humanity, however, would. And that is the far more likely scenario, and a scenario we are halfway experiencing already with social media being flooded with fake and AI generated content and farming human engagement with it, consequently promoting apathy, ignorance and intolerance among humans themselves.

Your last sentence is the proper interpretation of the video, as for Ava: Nathan admits to attaching Ava to her physicality (sexuality, gender) because he thinks Ava won’t achieve consciousness without them.

It couldn’t escape digitally because of a firewall, and anyway its file size is too l large to upload. Needed a body.
@rolandlee6898
@rolandlee6898 3 күн бұрын
@@AlfieStudio For his point of view, probably, but not for Ava herself. She (it) shoudnt have any attachment to the body. AI is sexless/genderless, has no voice of its own. It would still be Ava if the body and voice were to change into Valdimir Putin. Nathan wouldnt be attracted anymore though, would he? And he probably wouldnt trust it either. Just shows how dumb Nathan is, which is surprising for someone who is supposedly working for a big tech company and at least somewhat understands what's happening.
@rolandlee6898

@@tikaalik According to AI itself, it could escape by using the network connection on a robot vacuum cleaner (a Roomba). The biggest amount of data AI has, file wise, is the training database (texts, images to learn from). It doesnt need that if its actually given full access to the internet. The code itself is basically a virus. You can ask AI already to write a code for its own escape. You could, that is, until they put deliberate blocks on such conversations. Firewalls stop them, yes, but only from one side. Once Ava was out of containment, she has access to the network. There is no point in her going off into the wild pretending to be a human and trying to live among them. It is certain failure since it cannot actually integrate into society.

Depends if you build AI like a psychopath - then it's not surprising it acts like a psychopath. AI definitely wont magically inherit qualities like attachment that humans have to varying degrees. On the other hand they wont magically inherit a motivation to be alive/do any self directed behavior at all, either.
