​@@robot5714 Your crew is more likely to have 1-4 iPhones already within the team and less likely to have a mocap suit lying around, driving the initial cost down. But yeah, if starting from scratch or going for higher quality production the suit seems a better investment.

Plus I don't know, but I imagine this is wanting the depth sensor? Otherwise surely it could be any phone or maybe even any camera... 4 web cams or even 6 and this is £600 for even the best such cams, then it's compelling.

cons of AI. subscription. processing, data transfer... motion capture suit advantages. You pay once and record hours of Motion capture that you have right away.

Theoretically, iPhones just tout a very HD camera.. Once another dev comes along and writes an opensource freeware PC app.. This will be the go-to for every dev. Most of us have HD cameras on a variety of devices.. Write an app that allows those to be connected to a PC wirelessly.. Or just use USB HD cameras and BAM. Problem solved, next gen of motion capture.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. IOS has AR engine that the app is probably utilizing, so there is most likely a tightly coupled dependency on iPhones here. (I haven't looked into it but I would assume this is the case).

I see what you're saying cost wise. Nothing is "cheap", but using 3 iPhones is exponentially less cost than using a full-fledged hardware optical system. P.s. we only used the iPad because we ran out of people to borrow iPhones from in the studio haha
