I'm looking at starting as a sniper. Primarily because I'm disabled. I can walk, albeit with a limp, but I physically can not run around. So I need a play style that lets me go slow or stay put. I also don't want to slow team mates down and annoy them, so I need to play more or less solo.
@hms_dreadnought1936 Жыл бұрын
Thats the problem, many people think that sniping doesn’t involve running around. Thats wrong, sniping involves moving around as well, just in another way. Instead of moving into close quarters and running around, you have to often switch positions, get to places that are hard to get to and often it includes moving into buildings too. All those things would give you a hard time with a limp. As good-meant advise, I think an LMG would be easier to play for you. Also, thats not meant as a restriction, its your decision anyways, but playing airsoft with a disability is very risky. I have a slightly misdeveloped leg, and I already had massive problems, including a broken ankle which took ages to properly heal. Airsoft, especially outdoors, often requires you to move over obstacles. So be really careful, otherwise your disability might turn into something much worse.
@RainMakeR_Workshop Жыл бұрын
@@hms_dreadnought1936 I never said that snipers don't move. I'm well aware they do. But they can move as and when they see fit when operating solo. I simply don't want to hold back people by being in a squad and slowing them down. Being support fire is another play style I'm considering. Though honestly seems less fun, plus as I said, I don't want to hold other players back and as heavy support I would often need to be in a team. But I'd give it a try at least.

I only started with airsoft a few years ago, pushing 60. My age probably gave me the patience to learn from the experienced guys and remain humble, not overstretching my luck. I soon noticed as how difficult it is to play the role of the sniper in a team. I did not try it myself and went with the general advise to start with an AEG assault-rifle, plus side-arm. I'm slowly turning to using a DMR as well, still being embedded in a team that communicates through radio. I have ordered an ST-200 sniper-rifle, but I'm not going to use it soon in the field. It's meant for practise-shooting first, while getting acquainted with it all. During skirms, I keep learning from the experience that others can pass to me, while I observe their behaviour. Learning by watching and doing. Once you experienced as how difficult it is to get a clean shot on a large distance with an airsoft rifle, you also understand as how tedious it is to become a good sniper, apart from the tactical issues that you need to master, such as having a firm perspective on the game development, the opponent's objectives and movements, as well as the possible and actual positions of your team. It all has to fit together. Being a sniper is more than looking cool in a ghillie, while having shots at your opponent, one by one. If I continue to practise, I might see the day that I can reliably field my ST-200 and work with my team successfully that way. But I'm not going to be all too disappointed if that day will never come. Airsoft is also fun in other roles that can be played.

Very simple reason to not start as a sniper: -It has the most limitations of airsoft. Low ammo, slow fire, minimum engagement distances, etc. -Sure AEG's might not be super cool but they let you play however you want just at slightly shorter distances

its not even that much shorter airsoft unlike real life really favors aeg a quality sniper rifle shooting 0.40 bbs is effective up to about 50 meters while aeg shooting .28 is effective up to 40meters so you only get 10 maybe 15 extra meters at a massive cost in size rate of fire and ammo and those range arent even that relevent since aeg could still engage you at 50 meter by hosing and supressing down your position.

But, that's moving as a part of a main force component.. Snipers generally go through a 8 to 13 week course to learn how to move whilst not being seen. Even then it takes them further training and experience to move through cover and not be seen or heard.

I started with a Sniper. What my experience is that you need to be super patient and practice shooting in a range. know the map your going in and the lay of the land. Snipers is really about moving in unexpecting areas, flank, and thinking out side of the box. You need to expect your going to die alot and mostly use your side arm to get where you need to go. But once you know where people are going to go and if you have a ghillie suit that is dress up for the field your playing in. Its super rewarding hitting your shots and have players walk pass you without them seeing you. to get to this point its about a year of playing airsoft as a sniper. Your going to fail alot, die and change your Ghillie. Some times I just go in with only a side arm and a rubber knife just to practice hiding, sneaking where I want to go. How I want to get there and test how effected my ghillie is. This part just takes planning and patients. But it you expect to be a Pro and never die as Sniper isn't for you. For new players if you want to running around, shoot and have fun play with a LMG. But, if your a player like me want a challenge be a Sniper.

I started as an airsoft sniper and really enjoyed it, but there's a couple of asterisks to that. I'm not part of the more mainstream community; I play with a small group of friends, and we can do more complex scenarios such as uneven teams with dynamic objectives (ex. group of six, no extra lives, must capture a point, then defend it for fifteen minutes while you wait for a "supply drop" of "explosives", then use those explosives to destroy an objective, then exit the combat zone safely, opposition forces are three to four people who respawn infinitely but don't know the strike team's objectives, and just have a general instruction of defending a general region of the map) on an honor system. There's one guy who writes a bunch of missions for us every time we meet but doesn't play himself so that everyone would be going into the scenarios with equal (zero) specific preparations. We also have a truly massive area of play (~750 acres of land in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of old ruined buildings scattered across it), making long-range engagements much more prevalent. Finally, I didn't play sniper because I thought it would be cool - I played it expecting the challenge of having to sneak around a lot, and having to wait around a lot especially on the defending team. Sure, I might not get more than one kill in six hours - but given that our single matches sometimes ran for six hours, that was pretty much everybody, whether or not they were holding a sniper rifle. Most of the game was fog of war chess, not a first person shooter, and everyone there understood that and wanted it that way. I'd imagine that in a faster paced game with a smaller environment, trying to play a sniper would suck.

I feel that sniping is the most fun and affordable option for a player who has any experience with a bolt gun. Also every other gun can get boring to play with in the back yard but with a sniper you can shoot literally anything and its never boring.

I definatley understand the downsides, but I think to keep using airsoft as a skill building training vehicle, being unseen in the woods is also important. 2,3 or even 6 on 1 where you have 1 shot BA is a great way to build skill. As with paintball tho, people can't expect to be getting actual accurate performance and consistency from a round projectile a ballistic coefficient resembling a skydiving blue whale. Im watching this after playing airsoft for a while with my buddies back in highschool and i realized that I kinda like being alittle bit back from the action so i got a boltaction that can be used for medium range but i agree sniping is definitely something you should try before comitting i started off on AEGs and learned my play style would be better with a DMR or Sniper rifle so its good to play and try things before going all out

You can put cheap scope (not some unbranded chinese one) on your beginner aeg. Thats what i did to get more accuracy and hitting shots more consistenly, im mainly on semi auto mode. Im using stock m4 and it can shoot pretty far and accurately😃 I had that scope laying around and flip-up/iron sights is no go for me because my mask is a bit bulky.

The only reason I have a sniper is to be able to hit others at long range. I have an aeg, and it does shoot that far (about 30 feet give or take) so what I want to do is run both an aeg and sniper, depending on the game mode. Personally, I think it depends on the field and the player. If you’re very patient, and have a relatively open field, then I’d say picking up a sniper isn’t a bad idea

I've started as a sniper, it was easier for me because most of airsoft games was in the woods in Poland so i've got more freedom in movement. It was ok experience, when i got some money i bought MP5 as a ,,secoundary'' xD. After some games, that mp5 started to be my main replica, and my sniper rifle was used very rarely.

I’ve been playing for almost 8 years, I’m finally getting a Sniper. I’m going with the ssg10 powered by the Wolverine Hpa bolt. If anyone has any input I would be happy to hear it.

the thing that people dont understand, is that the snipers role is way more centered around patience and strategy. If you don't understand those concepts of being a sniper, and the role of the sniper, you'll simply get mowed down by a random rifleman. Snipers on the battlefield outside airsoft play a specific role, it's hard to jump into a team based, fast paced airsoft match and dominate easily

I managed to sneak to Enemy with an AEG. Waiting for one or two person coming close taking shoots and reposition. Took me 1 houre to sneak to the posting took out 3 guys in 20min before I got noticed and killed but it was worth the feeling and works with and AEG as well 😊

If you really wanna be a sniper my advice from what I did I built a DMR like aeg most fields only allow semi auto so if you have a large zoomed scope and a bipod as well as a couple other things you should get the same feeling at least I do

Alot of fields have fairly common engagement ranges where standard "rifleman" AEG's suffer. in those instances I recomend looking for a DMR role. Its kinda like a standard aeg but with a little more range.

get a DMR and be a frontline marksman , semi auto fire.. depending on model some can be slow full auto, Canted sight for close range.

You can snipe with a short AEG, but it's really hard to roll a flank or clear a trench with a sniper rifle. In airsoft, sniping is a play style, not a loadout. There are so few differences in raw performance in airsoft. If you get good at marksmanship and sniping with an AEG, get a sniper rifle and don't cheap out loo much. I usually play with a shotgun, FWIW. I used an AK for a long time, too... and my play style was very sniper or DMR focused.

Unless you've been trained on one IRL, one really shold stay away. And if you can't resist, get a DMR.

Sniping can be a challenge, I spent alot of money to get my g-spec to a competitive state although now there are quite a few nice ones out of the box I'll always go for my g-spec, it's an extension of myself.

got my first sniper from a used things shoppe. still need a new scope (previous owner face planted with it and broke the scope. otherwhise the gun was in good conditions). costed me 100 euros and funily enough you can even spot it in this video (not my gun but the exact model. its the one from the scope falling off clips).

I bought 3 broken Sniperrifles for 80 bucks and Frankensteined 1 out of them. Haven't used it and probably never will. I just like looking at it. The satisfaction of a graveyard build. Friend of mine bought the exact same Sniperrifle I Frankensteined new. He played it like twice.

What I began with and recommend is buying a pistol or smg replica or anything small and just running in, sneaky and play a stealth game irl

Im thinking of switching to sniper as my kit is based on holding a clear view with me even working on a thermal vision headset to spot people. Reason being that my primary is the sgr 12 from TM so id likely sling a sniper on my back for ranged engagements

I started with sniping Starting airsoft with sniping... was surprisingly fun, for me atleast. Learning how to be a sniper was a big learning curve, I decided to challenge myself so I learned how to move as a sniper and be effective, I kept getting hit more than I landed shots, it was always thrilling for me to find new strategies and ways to move around in the field. This is not for everyone though. Some like to move more into the action with AEG's and that is understandable. In my experience I kept missing shots, kept rushing things, if you dont have the patience for learning from failures over and over and MANY times again, dont start with sniping. Sniping in airsoft sure does look nice from KZbin and others doing it but they got experience and also still do mistakes, you cant always expect where a shot is going to land Slowly, I got alright at it, still my playstyle to this day, I'm nowhere near as good as most snipers yet. Over time I also saved up and upgraded to a ssg96, that thing is real nice. Keep in mind: I'm not suggesting this playstyle to starters and I'm not putting it down either, its all down to the player, what role they want. You are the only person that enjoys your own role at the end of the day, each role has their own things to learn, sniping is just one of the more difficult ones to learn. This is why it is not suggested to start with. You will get frustrated and potentially quit airsoft. I decided to make this comment as I was inspired by old videos of Nov a few years back and got into sniping, it is tough so I decided to share my experience to show what to expect cause I had clue what I was in for... Hope this helps.

I played in a few airsoft games with my friends, one of my friend asked me if I wanted to borrow his sniper rifle because he knew I always played sniper in video games and was quite good at it. My answer was "No. I'm sticking with you guys. I barely know how to play airsoft, I'm not going out there hunting people without getting familiar with the game first. "

i really liked sniping in all cod games so im def going to try it as a beginner, even if its extremely challenging, plus i already bought the sniper with researching xd. maybe i should have waited till i could also afford a scope, guess im just doing expert++ difficulty with a cheap bolt action

Don’t forget that many of them are heavy by the way, weights you down in no time. Down in my place most people use blowback pistols due to the fast paced gameplay it often has. Specifically, most that I see people use in my region are modified Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 blowback pistols.
