So about pokemon: as far as I remember, Voltorb was an experiment to try to make an living pokeball to capture other pokemon, because you know, in nature a defensive mechanism that involves self destruction is not really effective to survive, hence not favorable by evolution (it is even said that they were first discovered on the site where modern pokeballs were invented) Ditto was an experiment that tried to mimic mew's ability to copy and transform into other pokemon, it worked, but only to a certain extent, dittos can only copy pokemons or things they have seen, they need to see them to transform, mew would just transform from memory, also dittos didn't have the psychic powers mew had, so it was considered a semi failure Meow from team rocket was also another experiment, they wanted to have pokemon that can talk human language, it worked but the blueprints were lost, hence meow became the only meow in the world to speak human language and works with his owners, Jessie and James, on the field Mewtwo is hence another experiment involving mew, they wanted a mew with a human mind, that could be controlled or ordered, instead of trying to capture what would me the equivalent of a god, they tried to make their own, fusing human and mew's DNA in one, there are variants in this story, one says that it was just a clone from scratch, which was made purely from DNA and something similar to bacta tanks, other says that it was a scientist that fused his DNA with mew's giving him psychic powers, he chased to evolve human race or something among those lines there is a lot of things happening in the pokemon universe as of creepypastas if you search for "hypno lullaby" in google you will see a story that is canon, creepy stuff, lavender town is also one the souls of dead pokemons and people would wander and kill any who were foolish enough to disturb their tombs, Drifloon is a pokemon that would literally carry children to the afterlife, if they were foolish enough to grab onto them, there is a LOT, and just a few of them became an essay, wow

In sword and sheild there is many pokemon that have a dark origins. Froslass will take anything shiny and freeze it in her lair as a statue some of these things are people. Shes a spirit of someone who died on the snowy mountains and lingered. She is pasted off the Japanese myth "Yuki onna". Phantump is either the ghost of a rotting tree or the ghost of someone(like a hiker) trapped in a tree. Vileplume (originally in red and blue) is also one to mention because its based off of Raffelisia Arnoldii. Also known as the "Corpse flower" even though its a mushroom though it gets its name from the smell it releases because it smells of rotting flesh. Bewear is another that is less dark origin and more sad:( it doesn't realize its own strength at times so it tries to give its trainers a hug but crushes them to death. There is so many and I have found it really fascinating.

I've played GTFO for a LOOONG time. You can't trigger enemies by moving your mouse. I haven't watched the vod but if you hit an enemy within about 2 meters of another enemy, it immediately wakes up. Additionally within a range of around 5 meters, they wake up if they are already pulsing.

In regards to the whole "getting mad over the M&M not being sexy anymore" thing; I don't think it's focused around that (well, most of it is). The internet's probably more mad about all this rebranding and essentially... "dumbing down" (for lack of more accurate words in my brain) of the characters. People were outraged about Minnie, people were outraged about Lola, now people are outraged over the M&M. Not just because of "bring the sexy back" but also because these characters, so iconic so memorable, with their signature look and their personality... are being dumbed down. It's basically the internet getting mad over companies ruining characters simply over the fact that those characters are offensive now, when they weren't back then. It's an issue that's actually been p big these past few years. Characters being forcibly changed because companies are too scared of backlash, or due to complaints from idiots who get mad over the tiniest details. Hell, Pokemon actually had that issue. They had to redesign one of the pokemon, even if slightly, because it was almost exactly like an offensive stereotype (black face red lips), and yet it wasn't an issue for years upon years since that Pokemon was first created.
