For a long time many of you have followed my journey, hoping to see me return to the sky. I get asked every other week, "Are you back with Emirates?, When are you going back?, Are you flying now?"
Some you may think that I didn't want to go back. Others think that Emirates rehired all the crew that were laid off due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Well let me finally tell you my story.., And the story of many others...

I want to thank all of my ex colleagues who have sent me heartwarming messages both here and privately. And I deeply appreciate the support I have received both from the crew community and the non crew community. My thanks to all of you. Without everyone's support I could not have done this. Yes I was sad and spent a long time crying about loosing the crew job, as it meant much more to me than just being a job. It was my escape and my freedom. Today I'm in a different place in my life. However I did not want our story to be forgotten, our voices to be unheard and for the injustice caused to the Ex cabin crew because of the Covid-19 pandemic to be forgotten. This is why after much contemplation I decided to make this video. I wanted to give a voice to the thousands that suffered in the last 2 years. And I hope I have managed to do that in some small way. Thank you for all your heartwarming messages. And I wish all my lovely colleagues out there best of luck in their future endeavors. I hope you find a new path, a new passion and a brighter future. As for those who are still wanting to join the Cabin crew field. Please do so. The 6 years in Emirates is still the best chapter of my life so far, and I will never deny that. But there's some warnings and cations that I want to give you all before you choose this field. And I hope to make a video about that soon. Thank you all ❤❤❤❤

Omg i literally can not stop crying watching this … thank you for making this video and speaking on behalf of all of us who were made redundant and not given a chance to go back .. no one can understand the absolute heart break of giving your all to a company and a job you really loved .. given hope to go back and then the dream just been ripped away for no reason at all .. we were let go to save the company during covid who no one could have ever predicted and no it’s like covid doesn’t exist and we were left in the dark 💔

Only those who truly loved the job can understand how painful the whole redundancy was and especially all the disappointment of the rehiring process. As much as they want to pin it on us that this was our fault, it wasn’t. This was all the effects of the covid 19 pandemic. I’m happy to share all our stories. Hey, an ex ek crew here. I also left the job in summer 2020 and rough reality hit me right after (combined with Covid). I hated every single job after ek, I looked at the sky, I felt into depression. I thought my life is over and I didn’t want to live anymore so I felt called to write a comment - I really felt this video and your words. However after 1 year light started showing up for me - I got the job in tourism I love (I am a representative for tourist agency in Mediterranean - Greece and Turkey ) and I got back to studies of social work a psychotherapy. I am rested, joyful and purpose driven now. I am free and I don’t think for 1 second of coming back. Emirates & Dubai showed us over and over again that they don’t care about you so I suggest you to find professional help and change perspective on life otherwise you will suffer till the rest of your life. You said you are over 30, maybe in 40 - so in 10, 15 years time they don’t renew your contract and then what? I even saw people being heart broken because of that and we knew that since day one. I am not saying it is right, but the reality is UAE has no democracy, no human rights and they do whatever they want. Right? No, heartbreaking. We knew that? Yes. Honestly I don’t think going back to Ek is what will solve all your problems - like I said before, what about after 15 year when they fire you again? I think your way of thinking is a bit.. not aligned with reality life. The truth is life is much more than EK and to rely your happiness so much on 1 fucking job is a bit sad. If you are not able to move forward yourself find a professional help. I felt so much pain in your video and helplessness I felt the need to comment. I honestly wish you find your joy again ❤

Hi Masa, Thank you for your comment. Just wanted to clarify that I have I fact moved on. I’m on a brand new path and I’m happy with my decision. And I do not wish to return to aviation again. I’m happy and my days crying over emirates is long over. But however I like content creating. I like doing my YT and I still am in touch with many of the redundant crew. And I at one point shared that same pain. I thought of capturing everyone’s pain and making something out of it. Not to beg for the job back, but for the world to see. I no longer wish to follow that path but I wanted to tell our story to the world. Because I think a lot of the things that emirates did during the redundancy and rehiring was very unfair. So why not give a voice to that.? I have a lot of youngsters coming to me who worship emirates and think these big companies could do no harm. Why not show them that these big companies in fact, do not care.? That we are very disposable? And they should not make it their one and only goal in life to become cabin crew at emirates? I have a lot more ugly truths that I wish to say about the crew job in some future videos. But this one I wanted to do something creatively to capture that pain that we endured. I do not think the majority of the redundant crew community wishes to go back at this point. However that doesn’t mean the story should go unheard. 😁

Honestly what they did to us pregnant women, leaving us in such vulnerable positions with no health insurance and no where to go was just disgusting! I couldnt delete the "come back" email from them fast enough!!! I hope you get to fly again Aura 😘

Very touching and emotional video, my support and cheers for creator and all who participated in comments here, I wouldn’t expect it will touch me so deeply. I had injuries on board and both were considered as non-industrial, after few months of flying with these conditions and pain they forced me to resign, they get rid of people so easily. Emirates left, health issues stayed.

She was denied industrial injury and later told her to quite if she cannot come back to work after 90 days. So in the end she quit because her injuries were not healed within their timeframe. They really can and do get rid of people so easily. Sometimes very good people. I hope you are doing well now. ❤️

This was so emotional to watch. Especially when my Facebook post came up in the video. I forgot how bad it was, how torturous it was to wait by the phone for an email to put you out of your misery. Thank you for making this video, I'm sure it was painful for you. I'm in a much better place now, working for a different airline that respects human rights and will not fire me because I broke my ankle while delivering the so called first class service. That still doesn't mean that I wasn't depressed before I was hired by this airline, and was willing to do anything and accept anything just to go back to flying. To all my previous colleagues who were made redundant, don't let emirates turn you off flying. If it's your passion, try to join another airline, give another company a chance. Things can be much much better, not only the company but also the passengers that you deal with. Thank you again for the video, needed the reminder to appreciate where I am now. @@Buncheey they hired back the majority but even Qatar did not hire a 100% ex crew back. There’s one Sri Lankan girl I know that was made redundant from Qatar. They have not rehired her despite her applying again and again. So.., none of these companies are exactly reliable. But I will tell more in the future.

i still have plenty of screenshots from the days they’ve started sending the ‘business updade’ emails…but honestly, for me, it was the best opportunity that they let us go. Everything happens for a reason and even back at that time I was broken, now I take it as a win in life. Finally out of the bubble we lived there, yeah the job itself was nice and hard, new destinations, fun colleagues but also sleepless nights and rude pax. It’s sad … but unfortunately we all all over the world 🌎 felt this Covid 10 mass layoff in any airline’s Including myself it’s 2022 and I’m still looking for my place again in Airlines We were 2000 people We all got layoff not only cabin crew but pilots and ramps staff they work really hard too at airports… the entire airport was lay off It was sad some took retirement others they were looking “ what I am going to do next” this was all my life 2022 and all you see it’s unqualified people get hire they don’t care and they don’t understand aviation It’s low quality of structure and service in aviation at this time We got layoff 2019 we still are looking for our place back again but all has changed Companies preferred pay people with no experience for low cost Then take back the people with experience they lay off 😢

POV: You have allowed comments so this is my POV. Another long video long for fame. I find it had to follow or understand. Look at your issue from a positive perspective. The same company you talk about so negatively saved many jobs. I was stuck outside for almost 5 months I knew it was a matter of time as I was too far and not available to take up any duties. But and but as many said “crew stuck outside are fired” as early as march as the borders closed. The company gave us all a chance to hopefully come back. I came back and many did…well those stuck for long were let go any company would do that. Now young lady the same company took you places and paid you without fail. Be grateful some things are meant to happen that was your “thorn” now go find your rose blamelessly. The world have moved on and you still stuck in the pandemic pain. All the best.

It was never fair redundancy or calling people back … the third wave emails which had lots of people with sickness and final warning and some of them are my friends the redundancy emails was taken back as someone suicide , so they took the emails back and now this crew got to keep their job plus a fast track upgrade! Am happy for them but its not fair ! At least call the people back . Give us a chance #emirates ! Put us on one year contract if u don’t trust we will do well but trust me we will amaze u !

I’m sorry if I came across as childish. I no longer wish to follow this path and I have chosen a different one that I’m very happy with right now. I simply wanted to give a voice and tell the story of thousands that were left behind. Huge companies have absolutely no obligation to fire us or hire us. There’s no chance of doing that. How can you lie about your details when the company forever holds records of you? How can you lie about your passport, about your 5-6-7-10 year work gap in your resume? What can you fill those with? What proof do you have that you worked somewhere else? Are you going to get a new passport, new collage certificates to present to the company? You can’t just trick a company of this scale to letting you in. As for other airlines like Etihad and Gulf air, none of those hire people about 30. So…, your chances of ever getting back to being cabin crew is pretty low.

@@auraintheclouds Sure you are right. Why don't try with European Airlines? They are more open about age, try also the low cost one like ryan air, wizz air and so on. Also why not try to be a pilot? I know is very expansive but you could return to flight same as you like. Right now I think you could make an ATPL for just 70.000 euro.

wow! they are massively recruiting in Europe. Im going to open day. I am an ex Air France FA so pretty sure of me. maybe slightly over the age what they expect. but hey! they should change their recruitment politics, take an example of american or any other common wealth airline, as long as you are medically apt to flying, well they fly! they got stewardesses 80 years old. and why not ?!? as to old pre pandemic crew feel so sorry, the treatment is just disgueasting, you shoud be priority for EK! why on earth???? maybe coz they cant justify why in the first place they made you redundant ( bcoz of so called deadly pandemic ?

It’s truly unfair what happened to the ex crew. And unfortunately the Middle East and Asian airlines won’t loosen their age standards. They forever want to uphold their youthful image. So chances are that if you loose the crew job, depending on where you come from, you might never find another crew job again. That’s the sad reality. I wish you all the best for your open day

@@dorotaberthome you can contact me on my IG. It’s the same name. And no, they obviously don’t state the cut off age mark officially anywhere. But there’s an unofficial age mark which is 31-32. Yes even if you are crew of a different airline, if you don’t have the right height or age, they would not care about hiring you.
