Why Am I Obsessed with Sweden's Failed Attempt to the North Pole? | Svalbard, Ep 4

A Nordic Heart

A Nordic Heart

Күн бұрын

The Andrée Expedition was one of the great tragedies in the quest for the North Pole. Three Swedish explorers - Salomon August Andrée, Nils Strindberg and Knut Fraenkel - left Svalbard in a hydrogen balloon, only to crash land two days later on ice a few hundred miles from their starting point. Over 30 years later, their bodies were discovered, well preserved with enough food and ammunition to get them through the winter. So where did it go wrong? This is their story, and mine too, as I answer the most personal question this season - why am I obsessed with Sweden’s failed attempt to the North Pole?
This episode was filmed in Svalbard and Sweden in 2022.
-----
A very special thank you to the Arctic Guides for the adventure and for taking me to the starting point of the expedition. And to the Grenna Museum and the Strindberg Family Association for the access, resources and materials to tell this story. This episode would not be possible without their support.

Excellent "Love" story Kamari that is educational, entertaining and emotional. The love Andree, Strindberg and Fraenkel had for exploration, Anna's undying love for Strindberg and your discovery of the love you have for yourself to live YOUR life. Truly epic. Thank you Kamari for your diligence in researching for the truth. You are one awesome "story teller" and I look forward to more videos in the future.

@@anordicheart Personally, I thought you carefully balanced putting yourself and your personality in, as well as putting forward all the cool info. Like, 'making sure you're part of the story, but you never overshadowed the story'. Mark of a great documentarian! :) )ps thanks for the chapters as well!

I very much appreciate that this aspect was noticed. It was one of the hardest parts of putting this together - to create this balance. Because when I started this piece, it was to tell theirs. But in my heart I knew it was always mine to tell as well. So thank you for noticing the behind-the-scenes effort here for this piece. 🤗
