I made the same mistake. I mean it is the really first heavy tank you get for Germany. Of course you want to use it as heavy tank and brawl. But unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

I came from WoT a few years ago and in the first weeks I deleted the game twice 😅 things I would like to have known as I started this game: - only a few tanks have some armor to use - map knowledge is so important. In RB hold key positions and stay put as often as possible. - you have to play differently in uptiers and downtiers If you have any specific questions about the game or vehicles feel free to ask. @@steand5406 this is my personal opinion. But I am just an average player but when I get frustrated and I need a easier time. I play Russia 3.7 using t-34 and kv-1 that is where I've had my most consistent wins you just have to learn weak points because Russia low tier penetration sucks against flat armour but works really well if you can get some of an enemies side to shoot into.

Jumbo with 76mm gun in down tier match is basically brain dead mode, with bushes covering your MG port you can totally destroy tigers and panthers with only the risk of breaking parts.

Abosultely. The 76mm Jumbo is kind of op and therefore you can't attack in a match like that wiht your tiger like some of the players did in this video. Related to this video I published a guide on how to play the tiger 1 and actually how to destroy the 76mm Jumbo with the tiger 1. I love the tiger 1 and it is sad to see so many players rush with it right into battle an die to a stabalized 76mm gun.

Never apologize for covering an enemy spawn. If they let you get there it’s their fault. If I can fight my way to a spawn point I will kill anything coming out of it. That is not my strategy but if I find myself at the enemies doorstep I will take advantage. With no apologies

I prefer the panzer as well but 60+ its just to bulky and not enaugh armor for a medium tank i have all of the oanzer ligne up but the t h2 is just a mile ahead in armor and canon

I think I have to give the tiger 2h another shot. I just don't like that you are mixed with more modern tanks. It destroys the ambience

While these are all valid points, it must not be forgotten that a lot of Germany's tanks are slow and cumbersome and therefore hard to get into a good position in the first place. Compared to the T34's and Shermans who are quite nimble and speedy. What seems to happen a lot is this: a match starts, usually the Soviets/US find themselves at the caps the fastest, but it's a 50/50 if they, or the Germans hold it. but when both teams start their second wave of spawns the Soviets/US are definitely faster at the caps again and can entrench themselves properly. When the German second wave starts trickling in one by one, even if individual German players play well, they often still lose on points as taking those capture points is nigh impossible with a secondary wave of enemies already well entrenched by the time they finally arrive on the scene. (You can see it for most of this match as well, 2/3 of the maps is controlled by Kong's team, while the Germans are basically fighting from their spawn). So the frustration comes from generally playing well but still losing on points most of the time. This frustration then leads to players racing for a cap and hoping for the best once they are there which often leads to them being shot in their very weak sides on the way to the cap. People might hate on the Puma but it is these light vehicles that Germany sorely lacks in 5.0-6.0 as it speed is vital in capping uncontested capture points that can flip the game around. Yes, Germany can't complain about their amazing tanks, but they can complain that the game-mode simply doesn't suit their tanks very well. Historically, Germany faired much better in real life as they didn't have to fight for a point that was about 15 meters across, but rather entire cities.

You made a valid point and narrowed it down pretty good. Imo it is pretty much the same after 8.0 with fast agile tanks vs. MBTs in general. I had the best matches after 8.0 as I started the match slowly and eliminated the enemy team or weaken them. And only after they lost their strong tanks or some players I focus on the capture points. It feels the same for the German tanks for me. When I play the tiger h1 I stay further away and destroy enemies. After they lost some strong tanks or players I clear the capture points, capture and defend them.

Yes, only after the mixing of nations it gets playable at 5.0-6.0. I loose most games with germany due to the lack of points. So I just switched to USA and the Russian lineups, only to get sniped by the germans O_o

It’s the spawn killing that gets to me. The fact that most German tanks are slow doesn’t help either. I play a line up of panzer IV’s at BR 4.0 as I grind out the mid tier German tanks. most games play out with me holding a flank until an R3 shows up and takes me out then I spend the rest of that match trying to drive out of spawn and to some cover only to get sniped by the enemy. That is what playing Germany is for me.

Imo it helped that gaijin started to mix nations. Some BRs have a better chance to achieve some victories when your not limited to play against a specific nation all of the time. Yes there is an inidcator before each match starts. Please be aware this applies for realistic tank balltles at the given moment. Look at your initial spawn costs. Before you spawn into the match for the first time each of your tanks has different spawn costs. And they are the indicator. Look at the tanks with the highest BR in your line-up. When this is a heavy tank it is as followed: 220 points mean it is a full downtier and the match is at your BR / 190 or 200 means the BR is 0.3 higher than yours / 170 or 180 means the BR is 0.7 higher than yours / 150 means it is a full uptier match. For medium tanks it is 150/130/120 or 110/ 100. For light tanks it is 110 / 100 or 90 / 80 / 70. For Tank destroyer 130 / 120 or 110 / 100 / 90. For AA 110/ 100 / 80 /70. Yw. Yeah, me too. Out of the around 24 players each match only 8 can get a full downtier. The rest is inbetween or has a full uptier. So statisticly we get way more uptiers. And in addition there are some BRs like 5.3 that are played by more players.

The tiger seems invincible due to its propped up reputation and sky high fame its also the first proper heavy and you want to brawl with and considering how it can be attained in a 2 week period by a decent player and in 3-4 weeks by a horrible player like me the players arent experienced yet. i recently came back to war thunder after 1.5 year break and wasnt suprised to see that people are still braindead even though thousands of videos exist also it seems like Dt-5 has been buffed (to me at least) its penning the E's front armor when angled at 40-45 degrees

Lots of Germany players simply Speedrun to get to tiger/panther because they're so iconic but because they're putting all their effort into speedrunning tiger they don't put effort into actually learning the game. A tank is only as good as it's crew members, and when the most important crew member doesn't know how to do their job it means the tank is useless.

How I deal with Jumbo's: hold my fire until I can find a weak spot. If I am in a confrontation I disable tracks and gas and flee. Hide and wait for him to be distracted

Good advice. My experience is like this: Tiger H1: Keep distance. The commanders hatch is a huge weakspot and even angled the 76mm gun can pen the hull in close combat. Aim for the machine gun port or the first suspension of the Jumbo. The back of the turret doesnt work. Tiger E: Hide your hull. Same weakspots but you can also switch to the solid shot and pen the turret front in close combat Panthers: Keep distance. Again commanders hatch is a huge weakspot and the turret front can bounce some shots on distance. The Panther can even pen the hull of the Jumbo when you have the right angle. Panzer IV/70: Best tank to fight the Jumbo. Hide lower front plate and wiggle while reloading. Same weakspots as with the tigers. Tiger 2P: Turn turret away slightly while reloading. The gun is amazing for its BR and you can aim for the hull of the Jumbo. Tiger 2H: Jumbo is no problem.

Yes that can be a big problem. For my recommend key positions I always try to minimize those angles. Imo there are positions on the maps where enemies will appear more likely and positions where no enemies should be at least at the beginning of a match. So when I find myself surrounded by enemies, I made the mistake prior to that situation and moved to the wrong position. Or this position is just not a good key position

I think tiger players don’t do well or “play smart” because we’ve been told it has some of the heaviest armor of the war. I guess the first assumption is “heaviest armor? I can take a hit.” (Edit) also having the front of the tank being the easiest spot to get killed is also a little counterintuitive from what most players expect.

As I got the tiger h1 I thought the same way. The Pzr. VIs are so squishy and you finally want to bounce some shots like the others can do. Of course you think the tiger can do so... That is absolutely correct. Later in the match when some enemies has been destroyed you still can clear, capture and defend the points. You don't have to capture them right at the start and get destroyed immediately.

Yes, that is true. Yet I always aim for the commanders hatch when a player angles the tiger h1 or when I see a panther. Only the Panther F has a flat commanders hatch but also a flat turret front. In my opinion the commanders hatch is the biggest weakspot for the tiger h1 and the panthers. The commanders hatch is round and can be penetrated from every angle. Due to this you have to minimize the chance for the enemy to aim at it. And unfortunately this only works by using solid cover or distance.

I did a quick research and checked my videos again. This video started at a resolution of 720p. I don't know why. It was horrible to watch. I changed the resolution in the settings in youtube to 1080p HD and it got way better. I always upload my videos with this resolution. I don't think I can change the FPS. This is given by War Thunder. I hope this was helpful?

I appreciate the effort and I would give you a ton of recommendations but I am not familiar with console video capture. One thing I can say is that 60 fps is a must for shooter games and the video would look way better at 720p 60fps then even 1440p 30fps.

actually you are right but still i would prefer to see you showing us how that works in battle coz i do everything you say and yet - for example jumbo can be standing in the open and its not penetrable by tiger - it only needs to face him and you are done. on the other side the tiger could be completely hidden angled etc and is killed in one shot.

Absolutely. I made a follow-up video for this on how to play the tiger h1. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3LWqHmvqs2jatU In this video I destroy a Jumbo with the tiger h1. Weakspots are the machinegun port when you see it from the front. And when it is angled the first suspension. You can see this in the video. When the Jumbo is hull-down you can't do much with the tiger h1. You can try a trap shot on the gun, but that is rare. The tiger e has the solid shot that can pen the Jumbos turret. Yet a close combat with the Jumbo in the tiger h1 is deadly because of the commanders hatch. The tiger E has a better chance to survive it. Keep your distance around 400 to 600 meter with the tiger h1 to the Jumbo and when you encounter one, try to back up when it is very close. Also the Jumbo with the 76mm gun is at 6.0 and the tiger h1 at 5.3. So it is basicly a uptier match and you have to flank or support from the second row. Hope this helps but I also try to get some footage on how to destory the Jumbo in the tiger h1.

The angle thing is a myth, basically everybody knows it. The problem is: German tanks are boring, I main both USSR and Germany. I like heavy tanks, the slow paced combat with more thinking and less clicking. Is-2, is-3, kv-1 and 2 etc. German tanks are also slow, too fucking slow. By the time you would get in position with my heaviest soviet tank, with the tiger I would have barely got out of spawn

I play all of the big three and as you said, the German tanks have to be played more carefully and as support. I can relate that this playstyle can be boring. The TIger H1 is the first heavy tank German players get after all the Panzer IVs and then it doesn't have some armor to use. This can be very frustrating.

I played American tanks up to 8.0 and switched to German tanks and I found that the matchmaking is so bad for German tech tree I know the game likes to put you on uptiers but I found that you are much more likely to get a down tier playing Russian or US then you are playing Germany and I think this is the big issue because if everyone can penetrate you even if you angle why angle in the first place if you angle you most of the time sacrifice maneuverability but since everyone can penetrate I see why most players don’t angle There are no tanks in the German tech tree that are good just because they make Germans always get an uptier

I play all of the big three. BR 5.3 for example is hell at the moment. Only uptiers, no matter the nation. I also got only uptier with my American 5.3 line-up. But America has the Jumbos at 5.3 and 6.0 (soon 6.3) With the 76mm one I can even brawl at 6.3 matches. This means the 5.3 ones is even better. It just has a worse gun, the 75mm one. But as you said around that BR Germany doesn't really have a tank to brawl with. Maybe the Pzr IV/70. I still have to figure this one out. I just had a conversation that you can brawl with the tiger h1. In my opinion this is not the case. I jumped into my 75mm Jumbo, picked the APCR shells and brawled the tiger h1s. They had no chance. The turret rotation is too slow and the commanders hatch is a huge weakspot. While I can stay hull down with the 5.3 Jumbo and use the stabalized gun to destroy the enemy. And Russia doesn't have a brawl tank neither. In my opinion this makes uptier so hard for Germany 5.3 and Russia 5.3. Only the tiger 2P and T-44 (at 6.3) can brawl in a downtier match. That on the other hand is an uptier match for the 5.3 ones. But with the two Jumbos America has way more tanks that can brawl around that BR. But with the 76mm Jumbo moving to 6.3 this uptier madness at 5.3 might change. Players may avoid to play the 76mm Jumbo and stay at 6.7 with the super pershing and 5.3 with the 75mm Jumbo. At the moment I have a lot of downtier matches at 6.3, only uptiers at 5.3 and a mix at 6.7 with every nation.

I recently got back into war thunder last month and I haven't got a single down tier in the entire time, it's almost all uptiers all the time, which is especially bad for German tanks because their main strength is supposed to be thick armor at the cost of mobility, but when you're uptiered that armor is useless as almost everyone will have a gun strong enough to punch your inferior armor.

Very good question. The key is to combine all of my three tips on how to play the tiger h1. Keep some distance (around 500 m), stay hull down and angle the tank. The 76mm gun of America is able to penetrate the angled corner that is closer to the enemy under 400 m. But it is not a guaranteed. So angling helps, yet the 76mm gun might still be able to penetrate the angled tiger h1 when the tiger is too close to the enemy. Also keep in mind that there are other enemies that might have a weaker gun. But since downtiers are almost non existing you mostly will face strong guns. There is a reason why the 76mm Jumbo is now at 6.3.

I have also played WoT before I started with WT. I liked the E100. It was frustrating as I switched to WT. Because I first had to realize that armor is less important than strategies. If you play Germany, you have to be an extremely great and above avg player in my opinion! I get tingly feelings when I get multiple kills in a Tiger H1, b/c I know it takes skill ;) lol

Absolutely. I play both sides. The American (shermans and jumbos) and the German (panthers and tigers). The shermans lag a little of armor but the Jumbos give the tigers a hard time. Everytime I am able to destroy a Jumbo in my tiger h1 this feels really good, because it is a though enemy.

Yes, still I try to not spawn camp. When it is a spawn push and your whole team has all 3 capture points early in the match and there is no place to go than the enemy spawn it might be something else. Nevertheless gaijin should do sth. to protect the spawn. I once read a suggestion about fog or smoke for the spawns.

Yes, sometimes it can be frustrating because actually the game is based on teamwork. The other way around it is cool to have a match where your team communicates and help each other. It is kind of sad that you we don't have to opportunity to communicate better with our teammates. Like the mark for squadmate. This is a cool feature and faster than open the map and ping. Would be cool if the whole team could see the mark.

Yeah, angling is only one part of the playstyle. Distance is the big gamechanger for me and in addition go hull-down. The real brawler at 5.3 is the Pzr. IV/70.

Sei es nun, dass ich als support einfach mal ein Teil in der Frontline war und auch nur mit einem Kill von mir der Rest meines Teams uns zum Sieg getragen hat oder dass ich ein downtier match hatte, somit auch ein paar Schüsse abfangen kann und mich um die stärksten Gegner kümmere. Ich kann auch gerne meine Hilfe anbieten und mal auf ein paar deiner Replays schauen, um dir mitzuteilen was ich an deiner Stelle anders gemacht hätte in dieser Situation.

Are you playing low tier at the moment? Like BR 1.3 and plus? The ammunition at lower tears doesn't have explosiv filling. Most of the tanks have solid rounds and therefore they have only little after penetration damage. Shells that have HE in their name like APHE have explosiv filling amd do way more damage and can deal oneshots.

Yes, the 76mm Jumbo is way too strong. And as a tiger player you should know that and play more safe. You can't stay in the open without solid cover. And at the beginning they almost got me. So it is not impossible to destory the Jumbo with the tiger. In my tiger video I demonstrate how to destroy one.

Actually each tank has to be played in it's own way. In General German tanks have a better magnification and therefore distance can be used as an advantage. Yet the Pzr 4s have a low height and can be used to brawl around the capture points. You might use them at the moment? Here is a guide for them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4i3d415fN53m9k Tank destroyers that are a casemate most of the time have a good armor on the front but only paper armor on the side. Or a very good gun depression. So you want to make sure that no enemy can shoot on your side. Either play them from the third row (This might lead to a boring game since you don't encounter many enemies) or make sure that you are with some teammates that can secure your flanks. This is what I have experienced so far but I don't play tds without a swivel very often.

You do make fair points. However, there are basically only 3 german tanks that can actually bounce shots at their BR. Hetzer, Panther and - a Tiger in a downtier. The rest of them have no armor and mediocre firepower. You have to aim for weakspots, which is almost impossible at a distance and up close you are dead after you fire the first shot if you do not kill. The only tactic worthwhile with Germans is camping. Everything else will only get you killed. Russians have the very favourable matchmaker plus some KV 1s are so broken its not even funny. The only thing you did in this match is drive forward and bounce shots You took an 88 from a fucking Tiger in the side and did not explode... Great video, sad to see the Germans get ducked over by the matchmaker at every WW2 Br.

The Jumbo is just to good at 6.0. I personally would have no problem when it would be at 6.3. Even the t44 only has up to 162mm of penetration value at 6.3 and no stabalizer. I made a lot of guides and only with the 76mm Jumbo I never struggled to brawl when the match was 0.3 higher. I only struggle with pzrIV/70 and a tiger e that is hull-down and further away with the Jumbo. The Jagdpanther at 6.0 hopefully can bring some change. @@McKonggaming What I feel should be done to make the game more balanced is stop making maps that create 100m firefights, and that is most of them. Ash River is a very unrealistic setting. Stockholm is another example. Tho this is how a city looks like, it's not terrain for tanks. Make the maps better. The vehicle "balancing" they do by shifting the matchmaker does not fix the chore issue. Take the Marder III as an example. The widely used tank destroyer can kill KVs . That's what it was designed to do. But it finds no place in this game with 100m firefights. And the obsession with rocks. Rocks everywhere. We live in Europe. Our tanks where designed to fight on this type of terrain. Poland would be a realistic map without rock formations near the river.

@@AFT_05G Look at it this way. Let's take a specific BR, for example 4.0 To rate firepower, one needs to consider what is the target you are shooting at? Let's leave the tank destroyer calibres out , as all of them , from every nation one shot everything providing you hit centre mass. Except if you are hitting Russian T34s and KV. They survive extraordinary situations. Right, as German tanks are using the L42 75mm cannon, on paper it penetrates 145mm of armor up to 500 meters. However, if the target is a T34 or a KV, and is slightly angled, you might penetrate, but most likely the shot will bounce. Same goes for Shernans, Crusaders, Chafee (yes) , and basically any tank that is not German. So it takes 3 shots to kill a target, providing it does not find cover after the first shot. Now lets look at what happens if the target shoots back? The American 75mm will fuck up any Panzer 3 or 4 if you simply aim for the turret or upper front plate. Same goes for the Stug. So if the opponent sees the german first- game over. If the German sees the opponent first, then...maybe??? All of this is due to the map design. Hard cover every 20 meters. Unnatural rocks. Extremely hilly terrain. Such terrain does not exist in Europe and the Middle East. And Streets. We fight on terrain where tanks would be unnecessary. That's why German teams loose. Its not that the German teams suck. The vehicles are made more crappy then they where IRL. You start the match, try to get to a position, by the time you get there- someone has already set up an ambush. Boom! A chafee kills a Pnz 4. Then makes an assist, gets killed in return. Spawns into P47. 3 bombs and 8 Brownings. Meanwhile, the guys in the panzer are still wondering how come they haven't killed that one T34 yet...

Unlocking the tiger 2 i have found to die more than on my tiger 1 because if i push i get shot by ppl camping and if i hold i earn nothing. Using tge tiger E was sort of better than tiger 2 or i am just not used to it however i died less and got more kills on a tiger 1 than on a tiger 2. Why?

The tiger 2P has a well known weekspot at the turret. You want to brawl with it in downtiers but stick with teammates. When you encounter an enemy that already aims at you, slightly turn away your turret. In uptiers play as support. The weakspots on the turret aren't that prominent like for the tiger h1 or the tiger 2p. That might be the difference.

Yeah, the armor in War Thunder is not that useful as the myths may tell. I only played a few tanks that have some armor to use in a downtier. Most of the tanks have either huge weakspots like the commanders hatch or just no armor.

I dont know why people keep saying playing german is so hard. Nowadays, every single german tank knows how to angle, and they literally cannot be touched, its so freaking annoying

I think every nation has its BR where there are a lot of players and the matches become more "hard/difficult" to play. German tanks around 5.3 to 6.3 have a lot of armor if they are used in the right way.

Do you have a video for explaining how to use the sights on German tanks or tanks in general? I understand long 88 is a sniper gun but I don’t understand the sights enough to sit back and take long shots with it and end up pushing forward and getting killed for being too aggressive or coming into effective range of enemy guns

In general the lines vertical are divided by 100meters. And when you know the distance to an object you elevate the gun or set target distance to it. The distance is measured with the rangefinder or by experience. But the ultimate thing is to use stadiametric rangefinding. The horizontal lines in the gunersights are used for this. idk no hate but that my opinion is i always take german tanks and then when i am in the battle field some american tank comes and destroyes me i dont know how to prevent that from happening, and i think the american tanks are a little too over powered, becouse where ever i shoot them they dont die but they take one shot and destroy me.

No problem, every opinion is welcome. Lately I played some America 5.3 and Germany 5.3. On both sides I experienced what you described. Imo the American tanks have the advantage of the stabalizers around 5.3 and Germany has strong guns. You wanna use both to your advantage
