Rollerball is a great movie, then original! Rollerballs have their place and I have many. My favorites are the Monteverde Engage One Touch with a broad tip which uses fountain pen ink in a converter or cartridge.

All best wishes for you school venture! And although I do NOT like ballpoints, roller balls are perfect for schoolwork, fast notes, etc. Pilot G2s are awesome, cheap and universally available, Good luck, and God bless you and the family! PS Pls keep praying for Larry Berrones!!

I still use rollerballs and ballpoints. Pelikan and Parker make excellent versions of these pens. Most ballpoint pens use Parker style refills and consequently they provide similar experience in writing. The best is Faber-Castell XB. I use them when I went to work. Some companies still use "snap out" memos. Ballpoint and rollerball pens have to be used. There is still a need for them. I keep one in the car. I would never consider leaving a fountain pen in the car.

I still dislike them, in general. But I have a Retro 51 and a Montblanc rollerball pen. And an Aurora Ipsilon ballpoint pen. Just because I liked the way they look. I occasionally write with them.

Back to college? Hope that goes well. I was a mature student myself, and I used Pilot Varsitys (V-Pen here in the UK), as well as the DRs and V5/V7s I'd already got from my previous work. I don't mind rollerballs, and have a few, though I do prefer FPs. Two places I found RBs the ideal: crappy office paper, or duplicate carbons (are they still a thing?)

My latest RB is one I was sent by mistake when I ordered a Kaweco Skyline Sport FP. Rather than send it back, as I'd taken a liking to it, we agreed I should order a RB, and they'd send me an FP (plus an extra item gratis) to keep the inventory correct 😂

I do occasionally run across carbonless duplicate paperwork. Those and occasionally credit or debit card receipts are better with roller balls and ballpoints.
