Good point about the nebulae. Some may appear only at certain wavelengths with certain filters. And the professional scopes are not able to try all the combos of filters and places in the sky.

One thing I think may sometime be cool is to study a target with radio astronomy, but also photograph that spot with a telescope and a camera. I think it would be fun to possible see the same target but in different ways! Or like in the video, having the chance of finding something that has not yet been found.

And comets! Amateur astonomers are often the ones finding solar systems things like comets and asteroids.

This is true! there really are a lot of objects out there that are very useful to study! I was at a talk last night and the guest speaker there works professionally on a number of NASA missions and even she brought up a point about how nice it is that the photos/data taken is available so quickly for both professionals and citizen scientists alike.
