The right hip moving "up and back" is the same as moving your left hip "down and forward". It generates the same body movement, but in my head, it's an easier thing to do. Thinking about making your hip go "up" makes you feel like you have to go up on your tip toes to make it happen.

Really great stuff you point out in this video Craig. I like your no-nonsense explanations! Amazing shot of Freddy @ 5:40 as he is already on his left side at this point in his downswing. I think many armatures (myself) do not get into this position soon enough and we let our hands and upper body outrace the lower body, this in turn hampers getting through the shot into a nice follow through.
@CraigHansonGolf7 ай бұрын
Thanks mate you’re definitely right about getting through the ball and on your left side …unfortunately so many players have stiff wrists. This leaves the face open so they have to sit back so the face has time to close … really appreciate your post. How would you rate your own hand motion?
@bobbys43277 ай бұрын
@@CraigHansonGolf Now days I would rate it maybe pretty good. Many of your videos have helped. I used to hang on and block shots right, not all the time but usually at places on course where it would go bad if hazards are around which led me to believe tension was the culprit. Trying to steer the ball is bad! I'm like you, Freddy has my favorite swing of any golfer. A number of years ago I was watching a video where they had good isolation on his hands coming down. He comes in from fairly deep and at about hip high I could see him starting his release. His left wrist started bowing a bit as I could see him start to rotate it. Blew me away that he would start that soon. I could be wrong and probably am, but with the huge lag he has told me this is where his speed is coming from? Speed zone about waist high to waist high? As soon as my new knee gets stronger I am looking forward to get some video coaching from you.

I have a Gold flex here and a driver so can swap between all three to vary the swing weights. Brilliant- The swoosh the rope (an immediately my driver then gave me) as you get faster and faster is most encouraging too!! I heard "Alexander Cadogan", where you said Alexander on the takeaway and Cadogan on the downswing as a means of grooving a tempo into the swing. I've tried this and it seems to work well, with the ball hit on the "D" of Cadogan. I've heard Tom Watson say he swings to "Edel-weiss" sung in the rhythm of that Sound of Music song.

What kind of rope are you using. Dr Kwon uses a 3/4 inch braided nylon rope he said one can get in a hardware store. Get 7 feet, which when doubled is basically the length of a six iron. I got a 3/4 inch rope from Home Depot. Singed the ends and taped them to prevent unraveling. It is very flexible and quite heavy, so you have to put up with a little pain from whipping yourself. Kwon now gives each player who goes through a swing session his rope to keep practicing with.

Trying to qualify for the champions tour is like winning the lotto there are hardly any spots .. you have to play against players that never left the tour they just kept playing… the level needed is insane. My issue with this is the right hip does not move up. That’s literally impossible. The left hip is moving down so it’s giving the illusion that the right hip is going up. You’re right hip can’t magically get higher unless you have really flexed knees to start and then you’re straightening up your right leg. Hogans right hip is exactly the same height start to finish, you even have arrows on screen showing that.
@CraigHansonGolf7 ай бұрын
It’s a feeling for god sake … the left hip moves down on a average 7 cm the right hip is 10-12 degrees higher than the right. Feel like right hip goes up and back Feel like there is string in the right pocket … i said..it’s a great feeling that Peter Cowan passed onto me. Feel the right leg straighten slightly I said that many times in the video . Sorry if you find it so disturbing
