i had similar issues and striking the ball more to the left because of the shoulders in front of my chest true impact and solved it by a trigger just at beginning of backswing have your butt more backwards to have a hollow back and at impact to have the feeling of a hollow back instead of a bowed back. it helped increasingly and went in 2 years from a hcp 54 to a 8 and with this i went the last 4 months to a 4 handicap

This is a great video for me to use in training. Staying closed through impact is something I struggle with. The idea of getting to the chest-to-sky position really helps get my ball flight higher, which is great since I tend to hit golf balls too low with driver and irons.

Thank you for the great video. You had a similar one with head back a few years ago. I can manage to keep my head back but struggle so much with shifting my weight forward specifically with driver. I tend to stay on my back foot on the course when i hit it. I am finding the tailbone forward video is helping me improve this a bit. I’ll keep practicing!

Great tip and certainly one that will help me. I do wonder though why none of the 3 coaches I've been to in last 3 months don't mention this even though it is what I do (chest down thru follow thru) and clearly needs fixing.

By keeping the head back you're actually increasing swing speed and clubhead stability because you're not getting the way of where the club is going. When you lean forward, that's where the club is going so your arms have to collapse because you've interrupted the arc of the club. Staying back keeps the arc taut and moving whereas leaning forward puts slack into the swing and stops it.

Great content Eric as always! Mac O'Grady apparently said you need to squat and increase right side bend during transition. Through impact however you would have to hip thrust, extend your hips... I would truly recommend having Kevin Ralbovski as your guest, lots of interesting stuff!

I’m thinking more and more that head position related to the eyes plays a huge role in the ability to even make these moves successfully. Eye dominance and flexibility limitations will guide each player into their individual positions required, and a good teacher like you could help them achieve or find this.

Solving apparent contradictions when your spine extends or straightens and you stay down at same time keeping right shoulder down to retain posture and still hit the ball while pointing chest to sky at same time. Very insightful but shows the golf swing is much more complicated than it appears.

I noticed that additionally you are pivoting on your left heel. Is this an important component of the swing?
@1Mannco
@1Mannco Жыл бұрын
Not really important but most pros pivot a bit. If your hips are on the stiffer side, you may need to turn your heel/foot towards the target at the finish like PGA pro Patrick Reed. Younger and very limber players can keep the left heel solid w/o moving it on the ground thru the whole swing to the finish.

Hey Steve! It COULD as the extension (chest up, head back) and the trail side bend (trail shoulder down) assist in the club swinging from in to out longer👍 Here's a video you may enjoy watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4C0lpWMlq-ghck

This is 100% my driver fault. I've been working on keeping my chest up with my head back, and it's made a world of difference. Why is it so much more difficult to get this head down/chest up position with driver?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Жыл бұрын
Glad it's helping! Some may struggle with this more because there is a bit MORE of it happening with the driver vs. downward striking clubs. It's also the longest club and being swung the fastest...which makes it more difficult in general. Starting shorter and slower and exaggerating 1000x more than you think (with video feedback) is key!
