To make the product taste (and sell) better, William Kellogg added sugar to the regular corn flakes recipe, not just 'Frosted Flakes', which came much, much later (1952, 'Sugar Frosted Flakes'). John Kellogg hated this 'impurity', and the disagreement was so deep that the brothers did not speak for many years-William did not receive John's rather touching letter of reconciliation until after the latter's death. It is still not very easy to find cereals, or for that matter, any grain-based foods, that do not have at least a bit of added sugar.

Cheerios?! Lucky! I got unsweetened museli, porridge, weetabix, or shredded wheat. To be fair, I still really like those options, even after having moved to the US. The first time I had Capn’ Crunch was system overload lol

I thought it was sponsored by magic spoon and was confused when you started doubting it 😂

After going down the breakfast aisle at my local Walmart. And now they have Dunkin donuts mocha cereal/ Twinkies and ding dongs cereal/ and my favorite Wendy's frosty cereal. And don't get me started on the Minecraft creeper crunch, Mario and Sonic cereal. The kids stuff is ok, but the stuff before had no right being a cereal but they did a good job

Levi mentioned sponsors not liking the content, and I was just waiting for the Magic Spoon mention. Not disappointed!

Hoping that Future Proof does a video on Monk Fruit and other sugar replacements soon. I’ve tried everything from sugar alcohols to Stevia, and Monk Fruit is the only thing that works for me.

Isn't it true that part of his claims regarding his cereal was that it would keep people from "touching themselves"?

I would call it wildly unethical to market food to kids, especially with lots of added sugar.

An outsider critiquing a culture can offer fresh perspectives, but there's a fine line between constructive criticism and exploiting another's societal issues for personal gain.

More fructose is not an good alternative to sugar (sugar is around 50% fructose 50% glucose), since it still gets through the liver and lots of fructose often can very quickly overwelm the liver making it an "fatty liver"

I like eating cereal, but I buy it as a sweat when I'm craving it, not as a breakfast food. More like ice-cream or something like that.

Early cereal-ists were part of the early Seventh Day Adventism movement, which was more concerned with eating to remove pleasure (SDA’s vegetarianism was also initially about removing pleasure from eating than about animal welfare, pleasure being one of the worst human traits for some very strict protestant religions…) and plain cereals were meant to reduce masturbation especially amongst young male missionary types.
