In the US, many of us actually use the reverse switch differently than you explained. Because warm air rises and cold air falls, we generally pull the coolest air from the floor to ceiling during the summer, and push the warmest air from the ceiling to the floor during winter, regardless of whether the heating/cooling source is high and/or low in the room.

There are plenty of 3 blade ceiling fans here in the US all though they are marketed as Industrial Ceiling Fans

Yeah...But in Countries like India 3 blade ceiling fan is pretty common and used at households...Here in US I see mostly 4-5 blades used as a decorative purpose

Does a 5 blade consume more electricity than a 4 blade of the same diameter? Why would they make and what’s the purpose of 5,6 and 8 blade fans? Do more blades make the fan more balanced?
