Did a tour of Spain and Portugal two years ago and was greatly impressed with Spain. I could definitely see myself living there but I don’t know any Spanish at this time and know that could be a hindrance. I’m still deeply thinking about relocating there.

We think you will be just fine without needing to learn Spanish beforehand if you move to places like Marbella or Alicante(expat hotspots)

Randall - I think over the 20 years you have resided in Costa Del Sol, you have seen a real estate boom. There are more affordable options on Costa Blanca. Not as beautiful perhaps but unless you are retiring with the blessing of a great deal of savings, it is very prohibitive. Thanks for your perspectives. It is truly a paradise!

Honestly living in the North is Great too. Galicia is beautiful and has special traditions, today is San Xoàn and in Galicia we celebrate with grilled sardines (sardiñada), meat and hogueras on beaches (bonfires). This festival is similar in all of Spain but Galicia is truly magical during San Xoan, 100%. It is getting very crowded in some parts, more foreigners moving lately. If you like folklore, greenery, 🌧️, meigas (witches) and celtic music, Galicia is for you. I thought Galicia was known as "Galifornia" too like Cadiz haha. Cadiz is ☀️ all year round tho .There is a place called San Andres Do Texido, it's wow. I like La Rioja too, San Bernabe is a wonderful festival...not the ole ole but still lovely.

We have heard so much about Galicia and its natural beauty….. definitely on our plans in the future as slowly we want to capture the whole of Spain and Portugal because we think that the Iberian Peninsula has something very special that no place on earth matches. We are actually on our way back to Marbella after recording San Juan in Malaga….. honestly speaking it was magical moment specially when at midnight people jumped in the sea while fireworks go off in the background(Video out next Sunday). We have noted things you have mentioned and will definitely help a lot for Galicia videos. Thank you so much ☺️

@@randalkarotkin6556 @thepakspan No problem! You must visit! There's a wonderful community of expats here. I've met many close friends thanks to the auxiliares de conversación program actually. Every year thousands of young people in particular from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, India, the Philippines plus other countries come to teach English for a year or be "auxiliares de conversaciónes de inglés" or English Conversation Assistants through the NALCAP program (for the US) or through the British Council or others. Not just young people but all ages really. Maybe for Americans or other expats looking to make a permanent move in the future the programme could be a good move to try to live in Spain for a year or two before finally committing. I've seen loads of expats near retirement do that, an interesting way plus you can choose anywhere in Spain. Viewers interested should definitely look up "NALCAP" and "auxiliares de conversación de inglés".

It is bad advice to say that you can live in Spain without speaking Spanish. If you are a young person or adult of working age, if you do not speak Spanish, your life in Spain will be complicated. Eternal tourist in an isolated bubble.

Spot on! We highly recommend to learn the local language wherever you are in the world…. Not only good for integration but also studies have shown to have a positive impact on your health and intelligence.

my comment and advice was not meant for all of Spain, it was really meant for the western Costa del Sol between the coast and the mountain range behind it. I do agree that it would help if anyone who lived in this area, spoke Spanish, but it’s So easy to get by with English in and around the Marbella, Estepona, Benahavis and Mijas Costa areas. Don’t forget that we are all caring translators in our pockets in the form of mobile phones and I even use Translate with my Apple iWatch. English is practically the first language in the areas I’ve mentioned. Makes it super easy for anyone to transition to living here in Malaga city, then English would be not as common as it would be throughout the rest of Spain

The service in Spain is great, what happens is that in Europe we do not consider waiters as slaves or servants, so they do their job well and that's it. They do not need to lick the ass of any customer because, thank God, they have a living wage and do not need tips to survive. I remind you that in the USA, tips are so high because waiters don't have any salary (which in Europe would be illegal since we are not in the 19th century or in the middle ages as they are in the USA). So what this guy says that the service in Spain should be improved is pure bullshit. Let him go to France and he will know what rude waiters and bad service are.

Randal himself made the point in video that waiters in the U.S get tipped hence they provide a better service. We asked for a negative and tbh its nothing compared to many countries around the world. Spain is a great country with amazing life that attracts people from all over the world creating a beautiful mix.

In addition, what he said about the bureaucracy in Spain is bullshit. Bureaucracy in Spain is very little or almost non-existent for Spaniards, and everything works very well and efficiently, but for any foreigner it will always be more complicated because they are foreigners in a country and therefore they will need to process more paperwork, documents, permits, etc. If you want to know what bureaucracy is, go to Germany or think about all the huge and horrible paperwork and bureaucracy in the USA because there the bureaucracy is really bad.
