Copying the sutra didn't stop qianlong from being arrogant and aggressive. He then embarked on wars against burma, tibet, dzungar and others. Also he forbade free foreign trade which stopped cultural and military exchanges that would have benefitted china. He placed complete utmost trust in his favorite extremely corrupt official, heshen, with a confiscated wealth equivalent to 15 years worth of annual income the imperial treasury of the greatest empire in the world at that time. So of course, after his death, the empire and dynasty crumbled rapidly, the country descended in chaos and suffered a century of humiliation. Hong kong was lost to the British and taiwan to the Japanese. Approx 100 years his death, his empire and dynasty was completely obliterated into oblivion
