I have learned that when some "professionals" say "I do not recommend this or that for you", it should be interpreted as "I am not qualified to" or "I should not take risks because I have more to lose than to win", etc. But they are not going to tell you that there are qualified people who can give you a solution ... forget it!. The doctors can speak and understand English :) They are more comfortable with Korean.

doctors can read and understand scientific research papers, which means they can understand english really well. however, they're probably not used to speaking english casually since their education mainly involved reading.
