It is so sad that we do not say Ananse stories anymore. I just told my mother this and she has promised to say Ananse stories to me and my children every night! We need to revive our stories!

I love to see the several different versions of this story and how each is different but still telling the same tale.

As a child I had a book of Anansi & his stories. Thank you to my beautiful big sister for giving me that thirst for books.

I had a dream last night about a shapeshifter who seemed to have attacked my family and was coming for me. There was no fear, I woke up after coming face to face with him. It wasn't an attack. He did not speak, but appeared to be wanting to communicate with me.I wasn't scared at all, and he wasn't trying to scare me. So I searched Google for a shapeshifting male/spider. I did not Recognize his face.

Wait.. maybe I missed something...what was the significance of the requested items? The sack of meat (probably rotten now) with ghost was presented but we don't know what happened. I assume the snake was tied against the staff. The bees were released from the jar in the presence of God and spectator s and speculators.

Ananse stories was never meant to make it easier for the audience to understand, it was meant to be discussed and look for the deeper meaning because all that was mentioned in the story. For instance, the Akan people say, you speak in proverbs to the one who is wise and keep in their thinking because those who can sit and think far make wise decisions.

What kind of Ghanaian language is he speaking? Is it akuapem, nfanti or something else?? Please note that you have an international audience who know absolutely nothing about the array of languages in our nation. Please put the type of language the storyteller is speaking in the description box. thank you.
