Mustad triple grips. Best hooks ever they actually come on berkley baits that swayed me. Honestly I've learned im gonna spend my money in line. I'd rather have 20 spools of line from 4 to 25 lb test than hooks. Line size has revealed a whole new area for me to fish. I beat the bank then use what I learned from you. I just go small line and ride slow.....4lb test I've pulled grass and many over 5 out of 24 foot of water. This way I don't have to graph for hours lol your a beast...green with envy I am.

@fishthemoment when it comes to changing treble hooks, what is your take on sharpening stock hooks?
@mattshirk11253 жыл бұрын
I was wondering this too. I always keep a small hook file with me and it seems much faster than having to change hooks. Especially if they're nice Gamakatsu hooks.

I'm trying really hard to pay attention to what your saying but my A.D.D won't get past your go pro set up. Lol. Did you cut a hole in your shirt? I would never dream of doing that to my FTM sunshirt. Good content as always. I'm subscribed through my other channel and thought I was on this one. Am now🤘

Great video as usual, Thanks, Johnny, I see this has been asked but haven't seen you answer. I am wondering what type of mount your are using for your GoPro? Could you share with your subscribers?
@FishtheMoment3 жыл бұрын
I’m using the GoPro chesty mount and wearing it under my shirt. I cut a small hole in my shirt so only the mounting bracket is exposed. I’ve heard of people using magnetic mounts, but I don’t like the idea of wearing a powerful battery on my chest for 8 hours at a time.

When I was growing up people sharpened hooks ,I think I'll do a little of both buy some, sharpen some, baits are to expensive without having to rebuild the sucker's right out of the package.

I lost 2 big fish,one I saw around 9or 10 pounds because of not changing hooks.never again,now I change all my crank bait hooks!

Does anyone how many cubic feet per second it takes to be considered current?
@wolf1221683 жыл бұрын
Ok the hook deal I truly understand since I’ve lost a few myself. Can you not just sharpen the hooks through the day instead of swapping for new ones? Get the most miles out of them before replacing them.
@robertgordon35163 жыл бұрын
The only time I have ever changed trebles is when one breaks or it has rust on it. I have never felt I lost a big fish because of hooks. I think fish the moment is the best podcast on the internet and I respect his opinion but if I spent all my time changing out treble hooks I would not have time to fish.
@clghidra3 жыл бұрын
Why are the bait fish more actively feeding in wind and less active without?
@baraksinz3 жыл бұрын
If I understand correctly, I believe that wind and current stir up food off of the bottom for them. I could be mistaken, though.

There is no reason a crank bait or any other single individual lure should ever be over about $12 it does not cost anywhere near that to build them, the reason these companies are charging that kind of money is because we as fishermen are stupid enough to pay it and we need to stop and try to put things back in check some what. Btw I enjoy your videos and yes I’m subscribed and I believe your are a really knowledgeable fisherman keep up the good work.

One would believe megabass would use good hooks for the price they charge. I have found megabass has some of the worst hooks second only to ozark trail or some other low end crap like that. One company has hooks that never need to be changed and that is 6th sense.
@justingoodman61673 жыл бұрын
Berkley Dredgers are smaller and dive deeper per size than Strike King..I have several of both..I don't lose fish once hooked on crankbaits..I do have several come off on surface lures such as whopper poppers.

Save yourself a ton of work, time and trouble... get a tiller handle motor powered boat and troll those big cranks.
@rickvann34893 жыл бұрын
There is more to just reaction strike crankbait fishing. My greatest so called secret is not a secret I just experiment and found out this by time on the water and trying things instead of catching fish. TRY THIS JOHNNY and everyone else,take a crankbait and super slow retrieve [ I call it double dare you cranking] it is basically like kids double dare a smaller kid to walk through or just antagonis the bigger kids by just walking through their turf. Samething with your crankbait just slow slow slow handle turning through the bass, I promise you it pisses the bass off. Sometimes they feel like worm bites because they just suck the whole crankbait in. YOU ALL ARE WELCOMED!
@scottperkins47903 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised to hear Jonny recommend tossing stock hooks and not sharpening them instead. I would expect that from a sponsored pro, but not him. I got out of sports car racing partially because of the expense, but I've learned that bass fishing can actually be worse (if you take advice like this).
