Newcastle United's season is back on track after an unbelievable 8-0 win over Sheffield United. But while there was amazing performances across the pitch for Eddie Howe's side, it was also the biggest sign yet that Anthony Gordon has become integral to the team this season

Impressive also to see Gordon's interview where he admitted he wasn't good enough yet, rather than moaning about not being played, and that Howe has got him to buy into what he's doing, especially after the row about being substituted. I reckon Howe had reminded Gordon that he has faith in him and that's why he bought him. I wasn't convinced at the time, but kudos to Eddie, looks like he got yet another transfer right. I guess we should recall how Howe developed talent at Bournemouth and brought players all the way up the divisions - easy to take the result for granted but very few manage it.

We cannot underestimate how much Gordon benefitted from Anderson in that match. They 2 players seem to have a telepathic connection and Anderson was able to put the ball exactly where it needed to be for Gordon to do the damage.

I still didn't watch the whole video, but as a brazilian whom likes newcastle because of Bruno and the fans loyalty, watching Gordon made me think "if he improves his physicality he'll be one of the best" but at the same time, saw a lot of Neymar in him, if he's able to take a little bit of brazilian creativity, he can become one of the most beautiful players to watch

Spot on analysis. This is really the best football channel here. My favorite thing about Gordon, as well as Anderson: they both have this aggressive determination to score (or at least create some trouble) as soon as they get the ball. They don't mess around. We need more of this mentality spread among the team, so we can crush defenses more consistently as we did against Sheffield United. Miley is another player which I really want to see play among them. From what I've seen pre-season, he might be that type of player too.

It's mad how much better Gordon looks in only 6 months. Whether it's Howe and his coaches or simply a great U21 tournament but even in terms of personality he seems transformed from the Everton Gordon. One thing I've loved watching is he often has this very positive first touch to knock it inside and then carries the ball to push straight at the defence a little more centrally. It's so positive and starts a lot of attacks for us. If he can keep improving technically and improve his finishing then he can really be a top player. *Also, well done for mentioning the Dan Burn run for AG's goal. That gives him the space to take the shot on. No one seems to mention it!

Great explanation of AG talents and awareness, he was obviously a good well coached youth player at Everton, but hat’s off to Eddie Howe and his coaches, the way they have stood up to the pressure to play him, after spending so much money, and then to discipline him so publicly, pure quality - post from a WH fan applauding Newcastle’s board for their belief and patience with this project.

Makes you chuckle even more when you recall Toffee fans cried (through bitter tears) that they had 'ripped NUFC off' for 40m (despite them wanting 65-70m 6 months earlier). Take a player out of that toxic circus and give him a preseason in a proper environment and watch him thrive. NUFC has pulled Everton's pants down and clapped those blue cheeks 😂

Brilliant! Superb analysis, light years ahead of the podcasters and journos. I wasn't impressed at all by AG last season but hoped pre-season would bring him on. He's the footballer equivalent of Sir Ivor who wintered in Pisa, came back 3 inches taller and won the Derby. I hope Sandro, Tino and Lewis will follow a similar path to AG in terms of adding value to the first 11 over time. (Sandro should be there already but he's hardly trained since Villa and Eddie shoild not have played him ahead of Elliott A who is another exceptional young talent.)

Great analysis - my take on this is Anthony Gordon is a very talented young developing player and the experience at Newcastle has forced him to improve his standards still further. Eddie Howe and the coaching team will definitely have made an impact but it’s his own mentality which has changed and the lad has the potential to be one of the top players in the premier league if he keeps focussing on his development. Talent + Effort = Magic !

Its about time Malfoy got some credit. He can be a bit of a headless chicken sometimes but he's maturing nicely. How much of that is down to the Newcastle coaching staff is left to debate but you can't argue with the results. Gotta agree, Gordy has really come into his own this season, matured a hell of a lot, and I think that Brentford game last season really was a kind of turning point when he realised that just because he had that big money move, doesn't mean he's a top class player, you need to prove that, he went away, and with his performance tonight (vs Man City) I feel really proves he has matured, he has grown and given time, he could be up there with the all time legends for the Toon, but time will be the big judge on this

For me, Anthony Gordon has been our player of the season so far. He's been absolutely sensational. Every time he gets the ball or makes a run... I get goosebumps. And honestly, I'm not so sure we win that game on Sunday if he doesn't come on. Or at least, not so easily.
