indeed. but if you really need short distance focusing from an action camera you can always use an additional +2 or +4 macro lens. you'll lose focus to infinity but you'll reduce minimum focus distance.

@@calinchaud5056 I am here since I am trying to understand what can be done since I bought the damn DJI Action 4 and it is not good. I found 49mm adapter ring so macro lens can be attached. but will they work witch such a sensor ? I dont think so...

The GoPro Hero 5 has the best minimum focus distance of any actions cameras I've owned. It's crazy when I compare them side by side.

Ha! Thanks for sharing. Yes, the sensors are getting bigger, so the min focusing distance is increasing. This is why the DJI Pocket 3 is amazing. It has auto focusing. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

You can always choose the narrower field of view and the enhaced stabilization... Or crop in post

I think the narrow field just a digital crop in. I don’t think it mechanically changes the optics or shifts the focus on the lens. The subjects will appear larger in the frame, but I don’t think this will do anything to change the minimum distance.

Sometimes carrying a big rig is just not ideal and fortunately KZbin audiences seem to care more about authenticity than sharpness these days. A great image can't salvage a boring story.
