Why are Albertans so ticked off?

Rex Murphy recently wrote an article in the National Post entitled "Were I an Albertan today, I'd be asking: What's the point?"
It was a great piece and is well worth a read.
What was surprising (though perhaps it shouldn't be) was the vitriolic response from people online for daring to ask that question.
Easterners are offended that Albertans are ticked off.
Perhaps they should listen a moment and understand why we are upset rather than belittling us further. Take a look to Ottawa and the Trudeau history for some hints, both recent and historical.
We are asking ourselves what the point is and we are nearing the end of our patience with confederation.
Suits and Boots is an organization dedicated to fighting for Western resources when our politicians won't.

It's hard to not get the feeling that the rest of Canada has nothing but disdain for Alberta. What did Notley call us, embarrassing cousins?
