I say we must press on with right to repair… as an electrical engineer, I must say that apple is quite good at getting rid of people’s ability to repair products ourselves, and authorising under qualified “geniuses” at the “apple Genius Bar” to fix them, or at other authorised stores who god forbid signed a NDA form… Implementing an army of both hardware and software techniques to ensure that the customer can’t fix their own products they spent hundreds or even thousands on, to make them pay through the nose to repair them by personnel who don’t know the difference between an NPN and a PNP transistor, or what ohms law is, it’s just a joke and a money grab. And what Samsung told you last year or even these year? Foldable and flip able phones are basically gimmicks. Yes there is nothing wrong with gimmicks but For 1800 bucks you could have a s23 and a s7 tablet or an iPad and iPhone combination. Also the screen is so much delicate that even a scratch from your own fingernails can ruin the display.

You can't make revenue without advancing products. You are ignorant of how much Apple spends in R&D, it is a massive amount. Last year it was 28 billion dollars? This year it will be over 30 billion. Nobody else spends that much on consumer products in the world. Those innovations are in three segments, hardware, software, and services. Apple is dominant in all three. The proof is in the results of the market. Small profits like Samsung makes cause difficulty for Samsung to match the huge investments Apple makes in R&D. Over the last 2 quarters Apple made 19 billion each quarter in profits and Samsung made 1.3 billion in each.

I was waiting every year to see new features but always ended with disappointments. I am now an Android fan.

People used to consider apple phones as luxury items and owning one apple phone as privilege, so they used to buy them even if the phone didn't worth the price. But not anymore. The phones are now consider as an essential item irrespective of it's brand so the iPhones are losing their charms because they don't hold any unique quality and cost many times more than their worth.

The primary reason is cost. This is because Android mobiles are available in all price ranges, making them suitable for a wide range of people. In contrast, Apple products tend to be more expensive, limiting their accessibility to those with higher incomes. This significant price difference contributes to the decline in sales. Globally, the middle class comprises a larger population than the wealthy.

No phone is perfect without an auto call recorder. Me, despite having the iPhone 13, use my 3.5 years old Samsung A50s because it does the simple task of recording the ongoing call. In front of A50s, the iPhone 13 definitely feels superior and well, it is, for the most of it. But Samsung is a whole different case for me. This summer, I had two options for watches. Apple watch or Samsung watch. Unsurprisingely, I went with the Samsung Watch 4. Samsung compiles with the requirements by the Government. E.g. a fingerprint scanner for NFC payments. Samsung does that. Apple does not. They think of themselves above many Governments, I have noticed, except China, of course. Money over morale. No matter how good the iPhone becomes, it will always be my secondary smartphone, the one that stays home always, till the call recording feature comes. Apple music is brilliant by the way.

Most of the phones nowadays can do all the basic stuff really well (both iOS and Android) and I think that’s why AI is now gaining traction as that’s the only thing that can automate stuff from software point of view. If we are asking about innovation then the question is what more you are expecting from a phone apart from the million things it can already do? I think the smartphone market as a whole is stagnating... That's one of the key reasons too... I agree Samsung and other brands are still improving by leaps and bounds from one iteration to the other but I see it difficult for iPhone users to shift... Apple have done one good thing to hold on to their customer base... "The ecosystem". I am told the Apple ecosystem is still miles ahead of any of its rivals.
@bruxi78230
@bruxi78230 Жыл бұрын
Actually if you think Samsung or other Android OEMs are improving? That is incredibly wrong. A market of hundreds of millions of consumers vote every year with their money. Apple leads this market in both revenue and profits. It's not even a close race. For example in the last 2 quarters of the year, Samsung as a company made a total of 1.3 billion dollars in profit in each quarter. During those same 2 quarters Apple, made quarterly profits of 19 billion dollars. If Samsung is doing so great, why aren't they making any money. Shouldn't they be doing better than Apple? Shouldn't they be within say 10% of their biggest competitor? There are several reasons they are so far behind. Like you mentioned the ecosystem is a very big reason. Importantly this includes not only what Apple does with all its products, but also what millions of other companies do to make money with the consumers in the ecosystem. Consumers in the Apple ecosystem have far better demographics and tend to support app makers, subscribe to services, buy sophisticated cases, etc. With that support comes far greater variety. Next is Apples' dominance in SoCs and SiPs. These are the processors that are the essence of devices. In September Apple will be introducing an SoC which is around 35% faster than the state of the art in Android. These high-end SoCs are used in phones, iPads, and Macs. Nothing in Android land or Windows world can compete. For example Mac laptops get 20 hours of battery life on a charge, and Windows are less than half that. The reason they dominate in processors is because design is in-house at Apple. Apple is easily able to spend far more in R&D to continue its dominance due to being far more profitable. There are many other factors, but this post has gotten quite long.

Don't you think with same or even lesser number of units sold in most of the markets, profits should be equal? But they're not. Doesn't that mean that Apple is earning more per device? Doesn't higher margin per device equals customer paying more? And as we've seen for the past few years, that money is going in the pockets of the investors and not innovation. Including type C in a device when the whole world is using the same is not innovation. I'm presuming you're an ecstatic investor.

@@mayanksharma5698 ------ Lots of interesting questions, allow me to answer as best can be done Regarding number of units sold. The real answer is nobody outside of the companies know that number for sure. When you see the quarterly reports from 3rd party data companies, those are only samples thus estimates. They can be way off. Neither Apple, nor Samsung or anyone else in the smartphone industry announce the units of various products. Apple used to but stopped giving valuable info to competitors. What is reported for sure are revenue and profits. Revenue in Apple's case is by product category so iPhone, iPad, Mac, services, and wearables. Samsung, the other big company reports in a way more confusing way, but that's all there is. But based on the data in Apple's case it appears from the revenue number and other factors that their unit numbers are increasing strongly. If you look at a few years starting in 2018 and going to 2020, they made profits of around 55 billion to 60 billion. Starting in 21, 22, and this year 23 they are doing yearly profits of above 94 billion. That is a huge increase, some may be price increases but most are likely increased customers. In terms of innovation, you are way off the mark. Innovation doesn't fall from the sky, it is a result of money spent on R&D. It is incredibly expensive, but very well worth it for customers, and Apple, and investors. In 2018 Apple spent 14 billion in R&D. Last year in 2022 they spent 28 billion, so you can see the innovation rate is increasing rapidly. This year they will spend over 30 billion. The thing that drives R&D is actually revenue increasing. In 2018 they did 265 billion in revenue and last year about 400 billion. That is why the can afford to increase the amount of R&D spend. We are about to enter a time of great change in these products. I'm sure you've seen the Vision Pro. It represents what sorts of things will be going on, but is just the tip of the iceberg. These changes will not only affect things like head mounted displays but will also find their way into existing products. We are in for a very exciting time.

@@mayanksharma5698 They never advertised the USB-C shift as revolutionary as all the other Apple devices were already using USB-C. The iPhone is just the device people carry with them the most and so the shift from lighting (which used to be a huge upgrade over the MicroUSB on Android) is a much bigger deal because people own a lot of accessories that utilize Lighting. But now that wireless charging is so standard and is across all phones it was a good time for them to finally make the change.

Reason for not considering apple because they are being consistent in not being synonymous with productivity but expensive for no reason, yesterday i visited one of the apple store well i was intrigued with an ipad but since i bought S7+ truly it is a premium tablet. earlier we were in the age of multimedia phones where features could be enhanced but as the era evolved android ruled the market not setting record in sales but being more efficient offering features compatible with every device.

I am an iPhone user too. But i dont change to the latest model like before because there’s not much changes. So personally i dont feel it is worth it. But at the moment i dont see other better options for me as i am so used to the IOS eco system. Secondly i feel that economically times are uncertain so I’m holding back a lot of my desired purchases too. So because of consumers who probably feel the same way like i do, maybe that’s part of the reason sales has dropped for Apple.

Apples earphone cost around 1700-1900 Rs on their website or on any other e-commerce site at the same time you can buy bluetooth earbuds with very much sound quality with brand name like boat one plus or even Samsung, so these are many factors which determine the fall in sale of iPhones

Do some research before spreading bullshit and coming the conclusion asap. iPhone sales are declining because it’s already too good so there’s no need to sell a gimmick for 1000 dollars every year and that’s why Apple gives 5-6 years of iOS ,iPadOs,MacOs,watchOS updates to keep on to them for as long as you can

Apple ... asks more money in comparison to what Apple gives in its products. Android and Windows operating systems give more control to the customer over his or her laptops and smartphones. Therefore, if you can look beyond the apple symbol behind your laptops and smartphones, then, you would see gaming grade laptops and innovative smartphone choices which destroy Apple products in real life ... 😊

This had to happen at some time as Apple had stopped innovating!! Foldables are the new innovation trend now, with Samsung leading the way, and why not!! The most costliest Apple iPhone has nothing innovative but most costliest Samsung device has it. Once you start using foldables, you stop loving iPhones and Apple knows this. That is why they have spent billions in R&D but only innovative thing this year they have is switch to USB-C in iPhone.

It's like the innovation has reached a saturation point for them, despite the R&D budget, they aren't able to come up with new stuff that can captivate users and acquire a larger consumer/customer base. Other reason for the fall in sales would be the removal of additional accessories out of the box, making this a difficult and expensive purchase the aspiring customer base.

Hello! I follow Apple closely and happy to share my insights going forward if needed. My comments 1. It’s not first quarter results it’s Q3 for 🍎. Their first quarter is during holidays. 2. On a constant currency basis their revenue grew. 3. The main reason for the revenue decline is strong headwinds in the foreign exchange. As the dollar becomes weak the tech giants usually see better results. 4. The innovation on 14 is not just the bubble or dynamic island. They introduced crash detection, satellite 🛰️ communication as service and the others like camera, always on, action mode etc. 5. Starting from this year they changed the dates they close the quarter. They pushed it by a week. Which puts them close the release date of the 15’s.
