I will tell you what the death of bitcoin for the consumer, user will be... fees. Bitcoin transactions cost the same whether you are spending .01c or $100,000,000 If institutions are doing inter-bank trades in BTC - what will they be happy to pay in fees for a TX? if the trade is in million or billions - $1000 would be cheap. If you aren't bidding the same for your TX, i will never be processed... Your penny/hapney - nickle/dime trade will never be procesed. 'Dust' will be any TX less than $1,000,000. If you repeat this - please do credit me.

I think the only road bump you may see in the future is a liquidity issue. I'm aware Bitcoin can be divided to one millionth of a BTC, however, it is possible that in the future 21 Million may not be enough for the entire world at some point. So in the very distant future you may see a 10 to 1 (or 100 to 1) split. I could be wrong, but I'd rather have a split than a CDC controlled by our overlords.

Why would anybody sell when you can just hedge with perps or futures until your analysis says go long again? That's an honest question. Maybe there are whales that are so large the derivatives market can't provide enough liquidity. I did it on a DEX a couple of years ago and it was the best trading I've ever done, except for the part where I closed out because I needed the money (sh!t).

BTC whales are selling because they know a blow off top is near, so they're scaling out (taking profits) ahead of retail. As they take more and more profits with each impulse move they will rotate into alts and other plays.
