First off lets get definitions correct. People of color is define as a non white person....in the US persons of color make up 53% of the population with the remainder being "white"....so statistically yes there would be more missing people of color....the media likes to use "people of color" and black people" and "African American" interchangeably but they all refer to different things. "Black" being skin color and can refer to almost all African Americans. African Americans meaning people who are second generation or older people who came from Africa usually as slaves but not limited to Africans who came over long after slavery ended in the US.

It isn't that the police don't care, it is similar to how people say the police don't care about prostitutes being murdered. No, trying to investigate a murder involving transient people involved in layers of illegal activities in which few use their real names or will offer any real information is very difficult. It isn't they don't care, it is they have nothing to go on. Every family is not going to believe the police are doing enough to find their family member.
