I think the ideal would be when the lowest practical unit of currency would have nominal value of 1. The cheapest thing you could buy would cost 1 unit of currency.

Thank you for this video! So many people need to see this. My ex-gf would always argue with me because I earned in CAD and she earned in South African Rand. She would always say I had it better and made more just because I earned in dollars and she earned but when you do the conversion she would make more than me but wouldn’t believe it. It’s not about what currency you earn in, it’s how much of said currency you earn!

All I know is that the British Pound keeps falling and falling with the whole Brexit thing going on. $1.00 now equals £0.82 pounds. I also find it crazy to think how one country like the US has a larger GDP than all 28 countries that make up the EU combined! That's mind blowing when you think about it. The US economy is just so freaking massive!

The answer to the title, cause currency is a game, every one has to play onto the idea that it has value, and the ones that have more power, have more value, usually, but it has no intrinsic value, in the USA, a $100 is worth intrinsically 12 cents, while if you hold it in cents, it would be worth almost $200 in value of the coin metal And also..... inflation occurs in all fiat currencies, apparent the US dollar looses half it's purchase power every 20-30 years now, which is horrific if you are trying to save for retirement. I'd say invest in something that would in the future, when you sell it, would give you an amount that would keep around the same purchasing power as when you bought it, ie. A house, maybe a good company

Actually what if you have 100 usd Change it to some currency thats way weaker The currency gets better like 100 usd will be 900 currency instead of 1000 Which means youd make profit just by exchanging So 100 usd into some currency 1000 Currency becomes better than before Exchange 1000 of that currency for like 110 usd this on a mass scale could work

the british pound £ sterling, is a strange one, being that each nation, or region of the UK and crown dependencies have their own issue, that is gibraltar, iom,falkland islands,st helena, ulster bank, royal bank of scotland, bank of scotland, bank of england ... except wales... also there is a certain famous female person, a monarch who appears on various notes....& coins in various countries, everywhere from UK too canada, australia to NZ... the euro is used by some 400 million, the us $dollar by simmilar.... the japanese yen,UK £,chinese yuan,russian rouble,swiss franc & indian rupee are globably known currencies... maybe future project for latin -south america is one currency like the euro, the east carribean $dollar already exists... africa too may have new currency unions

You have missed the consumer outcomes of currency value differences in your video. I am in Australia. If I buy onlne software subscriptions from say, Adobe, then I lose approx 30% of my money's value off the bat, 35% if you count Paypal or a bank taking their hit. Because the AUD to the USD has such a rate. So my buying strategies change. I look at more free or opensource software. I avoid subscription software. For instance software like FL Studio for making music is a one time payment with lifetime free updates; that makes sense when my AUD is so pathetic against the USD.

@@christophermelville7654 ok so let's say you live in Japan and Bread is 1000 yen it's always been around a thousand and Japanese people equate bread with 1000 yen. What is the point of changing the currency as to make bread 10 yen? Nobody in Japan wants that, it doesn't matter how you denote your currency it's all the same. Like what if the EU just decided "Hey every euro currency is getting multiplied by a factor of 10" you would be like why though because there is litterally no reason to.
@mohammedraheem6288
@mohammedraheem6288 5 жыл бұрын
I don't know if the Japanese have or had a denomination less than a Yen. But a reason why they may have larger denominations for relatively low priced goods is so that for the most part they do not need a denomination less than a whole Yen. So instead of having dollars and cents, you have only Yens.

I think the fiat currency is something in-between crypto currency and gold standard. There are always downsides with all types of currencies. The crypto currency will literally be useless when we no longer have the energy required to do transactions or when there are power outages. And that isn't backed by anything either, like the fiat money. Also, you never know how many things the others on the other end know about you. In case of a security emergency, you might become an undesirable person in your country and you won't be able to use that currency at all.

I just searched up "why are some currencies worth less" I didn't realize this was ibx so I clicked on the video incredibly surprised. Serving knowledge at the same time as showing Minecraft :)

In Brazil, we have a saying, used by people who travel abroad: "Quem converte não se diverte." ("Who converts doesn't have fun") I wonder what it is like to be from a first world country and actually having more fun by converning money when traveling abroad.

@@EvanAviator When we travel to Europe or the US, we say "who converts doesn't have fun" because if we keep calculating every euro or dollar price we pay into real, we'll get super stressed because everything is just so expensive. If you're from a rich country whose money is worth a lot, you can alway calculate how much of your own currency you are spending when you're traveling to a poor country and you'll always be delighted about how little you're spending.
