I am Dutch and I can add something tot this news item. Yes, the EU has imposed rules for the reduction of nitrogen. But each EU country applies these rules in its own way. The Netherlands is a small country with 17 million people. There has been a shortage of affordable houses for years. What you don’t hear anywhere in the media is that the Dutch government uses the nitrogen reduction rules to not only force farmers to stop, but to expropriate their land. They want to use this precious land to build houses and new industrial areas. The farmland has been owned by farming families for generations. They are driven to bankruptcy and there is hardly any financial compensation in return. That is why the farmers are now protesting en masse. Currently, many false news stories are being brought into the world through Dutch news channels. Also to ensure that the Dutch people turn against the farmer’s actions. But so far the actions are still fully supported by the people. Please make sure everyone in the world hears about this injustice. Thank you.

They push the farmers out. Government makes a lot more money taxing middle class people in large apartment complexes or swats of Homes, than a bunch of farmland. Not only does this create an increased tax base, but the loss of self sufficiency will quickly lead to rising prices from Importation/Duties/freight, which even further elevates the amount of taxes people are paying due to the rising cost of goods. More people in Cities, leads to more Police and Government infrastructure, as people slowly decline into madness from living in Unsustainable urban communities that POLLUTE much more than farm land.

actually, here in the Netherlands the Farmers are responsible for 40% of emissions. that's just the agriculture sector without transports, supermarkets etc. so no. Shell is not a bigger polluter then some of these, they call themselves farmers, but it's really more industrialized manufacturing with livestock as input. if you were to look at one of these companies in person. you're first thought would be "wow, where does all the manure go?" .. there is a huge manure surplus and yet farmers are still pumping fields full of fertilizers. 40% of all energy consumption in the netherlands goes to just 2 companies.. both of them produce fertilizers from natural gas. I would very much like to mention that the farmers that are protesting are almost all owners of large dairy farms... other farmers, like me, are actually very much looking forward to a new set of rules because if certain farmers are willing to destroy their, soils, animal welfare and businesses just to compete... others farmers have no choice but to join in or lose to the competition.

An intrenched farming method foisted and incentivised over decades by government/agribusiness is now demonised by the very same people. Farmers are not given the option to transition in an orderly and incentivised way. They are threatened with losing their land and livelihood with the land confiscated by the government and their corporate interests. This a land grab with climate change used as the reasoning. Transition needs to happen but you need to bring the people with you. When you threaten people they will always react negatively. They will always resist. At the very least this has been incredibly poorly communicated and handled. I have worked in climate change Education for years and have a very good grasp of the issues and the challenges. I’m a strong believer in tarring and feathering delusional politicans that are members of the world economic forum.

@@milacek That was the initial switch which started the economic dominos falling (unemployment then banks). I have seen a few economic documentaries on Sri Lanka recently - I was skeptical at first as well.

As scientists succeed in making environment an issue, the investor cabals are finding ingenious ways of using environmental concerns (genuine or otherwise) for enriching corporations at the expense of small businesses. This lady seems more politician than scientist. So I tend to agree that this government is trying to change land use patterns and nitrogen may be an excuse. He was apparently explicit in an WEF meeting.

Your right the Dutch regime are all WEF-puppets, implementing Schwab's SDG/Great Reset agenda. It's even worse, freedom of information requests revealed they made legally binding agreements, with this privately owned billionaire club called the world economic forum. It's treason and a discrace.
