Greetings from the USA! Thirty years ago, they told us 'family sized' farms that the WTO would save us, allowing us to export into the lucrative Euro market- you shut that down. We now have half the number of farms we had then, and 95% of all agricultural output can only be described as 'industrial'. Corporate processors and marketers have grown ridiculously rich and powerful, while our rural towns crumble, leaving only anger and substance abuse behind. Welcome to your future- you avoided it for a time, but now it's your turn to enjoy the poisonous fruits of capitalism.

Example in UK supermarket was an offer on legs of Lamb. It was half price. I examined the packaging. No Country of Origin. Not even packed in UK. NOW most people think if it has packed in UK that it is a UK product. IT IS NOT. It means it is imported and the packaged in UK and most times if you search can find small print of country of origin. Therefore supporting your countries food supply requires its public to read labels. If public unaware they will just keep undermining its own Farmers.

@subcitizen201210 ай бұрын
You're asking for market regulation... do you know what that means?
@Gavin-mf3sj8 ай бұрын
Easy, our income is globalised and our costs come with all the cost of regulated wages and tax's from the urban areas. Only way forward is "FREE TRADE" every where and a "exclusive tax economy". Exclusive means people don't get pay rises to cover tax and regulation costs. We will pay these "tax and regulation costs on top of the normal price, i.e. price plus tax and regulation cost added at till mean the inflation rate is calculated before tax and regulations costs are added. Here in Australia I have worked out that we pay $1 plus $4 extra, but that the inflation rate is based on the $5, not the real value of the $1. This mean urban wages are calculated on the $5, not the real value of $1. this is the outcome I expect, over 20 years ago now.

Please consider American farmers which have among the highest suicide rates of any occupational group in the U.S. A 2016 study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that the suicide rate among agricultural workers in 17 states was five times higher than in the general population. Food is expensive but farmers are not the reason. They are severely under paid in USA. European farmers are also struggling and driving their tractors into many European capitals demanding fair pay which Jodi and I thoroughly applaud! I would expect this to be happening in USA if things don't improve for them. Thank you, all American farmers, keeping everyone alive!

It must be better that crops of lower quality produced in EU are not discarded, but used in the production of ”biogas” (biomethane, CH4) that replaces russian fossil natural gas. Many harmed cereals of EU due to bad weather, fungi attacks, etc. cannot be used as human food. Sometimes such cereals are no good for animal feed either. Then make bioethanol of them. There should be EU rules that EU countries must produce e.g. 10 % of it’s liquid fuel needs from crops agricultured in EU. And if it is technically possible, another 10 % to 20 % of EU:s liquid fuels shall be produced from imported crops and imported agriculture products e.g. sugar from sugar cane. If fatty seeds are imported or if fatty seeds agricultured in EU are damaged by e.g. insects, fungi and other deseases, then separate the fat and make the modern, better biofuel: HVO100 from the fat. HVO100 is used in diesel engines. HVO100 can be blended into any diesel fuel as well. The rest of those seeds can be substrate in biogas (bio-CH4) production. The rest from that can be used as bio fertilizer. Waste fats from fatty seeds can also be converted to biojetfuel, also called: Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), of HEFA type. EU have already legislated that SAF shall be used in EU at airports starting from year 2025. The blending at airports will be: 98% fossil jetfuel and 2% SAF, to begin with.
