Ist they judge you for grades, then they judge you for jobs, then marriage, one you get married, they judge you for kids, once you have kids , they start judging for your kids grades, and the cycle goes on like a loop. Hopefully our generation will end it.

😪True. My parents force me to attend relatives' marriages. I hate it, I always refuse to attend those marriages. I hate someone poking their nose in my personal matter. Who the f**k are they to judge me. But I can't scold them, because my parents feel sad if I talk rudely with them. When this typical indian society will change. I hate it.

The thing is : Marriage is not for everyone but our culture has made it out to be. It's supposed to be a union between two people who want to commit to each other but in our culture, it's just a medium to keep up with the social standards. It completely loses it's meaning when you and the other person's family have way more rights to say and do in something that should exclusively include YOU and the other person. Also, marriage is not a necessity so stop making it out to be.

What I don't like about most Indian weddings is that, even after having jobs and becoming self independent, parents still have to spend for their son or daughter's wedding in lakhs or crores, just because they have a Bollywood wedding dream. In old age, these parents need to spend more on their health, but saving hard earned money for their children to get married lavishly is awkward for me. I think people should get married, not becoming a burden to parents. Unless they are financially stable, they can't just get married like that. Apna pocket dekhke shaadi karo. Just my thought.
@tamonashpan
@tamonashpan 2 жыл бұрын
Apne paise se shaadi krne ki baat ki toh Papa bohot maarenge... By having financial powers, they ensure we don't have a lot of say in the ceremonies... The wedding is for them and not us. It is a cycle of parading their kids around to give the illusion of how successful they are. The partner is for you, the party for them. Try to fight it and you will see Oscar level melodrama... Fortunately, the scene is changing a little bit... But full autonomy in wedding is still a distant dream for Indian couples.

@@tamonashpan Agreed. It all goes in showing off to their neighbours firstly. If parents want to contribute for their children's marriage and if they have the capacity, it's upto them. But to pressure them into expensive and extravagant weddings atleast from the children's side shouldn't be encouraged. Parents will be parents and they will never say no, but children should be able to also take responsible decisions.

Many marriages are a result of parental pressure and the initial show-shaa of wedding ceremonies, honeymoon, decking up and visiting relatives, etc. What happens when all this gets over is the test of marriage.
@evm6177
@evm6177 Жыл бұрын
Yes. Just I feel, What happens is aptly shown in the end of recent film 'The Joker' 🃏 Someone may murder their spouse, or run away with another person or simply divorce (Which is a peaceful and logical resolution of course) People frustrated with their own unfulfilled lives can never bring joy to anyone else's life. Compatibility is also real issue with any relationship even among friends. When it is forced you make even well mannered boy or girl feel like a slave who had no rights or freedom. It's a sad unfair thing this is going on even today when our country population itself is exploding. Yet no one cares for anything but 'when marriage' bass khatam..

In my opinion, marriage should be a choice to everyone which is usually not the case in India. Marriage is a huge commitment, mutual sacrifices, individuality or personal space kind of reduces. People think about themselves( not narcissistic, to do what they want to like dreams) until they marry and it shifts after marriage. When responsibilities increase we cant experience perks of being in love. We have to care, comfort, be for each other.

I noticed one thing If you are a single colleague in any work or family setting, you can not keep up the conversation with the people who are married and have kids. People like to flaunt their marriage and talk about their spouse and make it awkward for someone who did not yet get married. It's very frustrating when people start talking about the vacation they want to go with spouse or the kids behaving in some way, as if the person lost their identity after marriage or kids. I'm not against it but I felt that someone else start feeling awkward because of the way they portray their life. I saw it pretty recently & I think that's the reason people feel being left out or not having kids. It's more like whatever is there in group you need to have same.

I am comfortable being alone(and I have no intention to share my space with someone I don't know well) but those shy guys may not be comfortable alone, so they want to get married just to get married. No wonder women think less of introvert men because of the image created by these shy guys who are needy for relationship and marriage.

If u r in an unhappy marriagr which dsnt allow for growth, it's better to divorce. IMHO marrying w.o. knowing nooks and cranies of someone isnt a good option. @@EsoteriaHealing Both are not ideal. How do you define compatibility how will you know that your partner is incompatible to you. No couple is "made for each other" there are adjustments, compromises, sacrifices in every marriage. So the idea of compatibility or you know happy marriage is abstract. Similarly I think there are few cases like Cheating, marital rape, etc where the trust is lost but still marriage is not broken for societal reasons, which is sad. Imo divorce should not be encouraged except for the most extreme reasons/cases.

Go to villages or small towns, old generation society will start judging you in evrything. If you talk with an opposite gender person and laughing, people start spreading rumours, arre kuch tho chal raha hein bhai, kahi ye dono ke beech mein koi chakkar to nahi hein. If you are watching some memes in mobile and laughing also people think that you are in love with someone. If you get less marks than other relative kids, then you are waste, if you get 90 % and your neighbor kid gets 98, then also comprison starts. Thank god my parents never tortured me like that for marks, but I have seen so many parents like that. Pity for those poor kids. If you are 28+ and still unmarried, then they will torture when is the marriage. If you are married and dnt have kids even after 2yrs, they will start torturing again. If your kid grows, same thing repeats for him for whole life time. I hate this typical indian mentality. That's why our generation people keeps a distance from relatives.

Each country has it's own negative and positive things. I agree that india has so many great cultures and values, but when it comes to negative part, india has lot of problems too. People judging us in everything is ridiculous. No freedom to get married also, in some typical indian families, children are not even having rights to choose their girl/boy. Arrange marriage is fine, but at least they should ask their children's opinion. Nowadays most of the ppl do ask, but some old generation narrow mindset people dnt ask even in today's world. Some people think that education is not required for women. Nowadays things are changing, still I have seen few people who are in old generation mindset. In olden days, if dad chose a girl/boy, then even if you didnt like her/him, you had to marry them forcefully. That was horrible. Now at least india is changing.
