Warning: LONG TEXT (lol) Here's what I've read from the japanese comments talking about this song's meaning: • The singer is actually a younger brother of a VERY famous actor in Japan. So since his brother has debuted, he was always compared to his brother, and bc he loved his brother, he didn't want to bother his brother's fame, so he tried really hard to live up to people's expectations. But people were always disappointed to him, and bc of that, he became depressed. And this song is based on that experience. • "...---..." part is a morse code, meaning "SOS". • About that morse code part, the singer himself completes that part, but in the video it doesn't complete, it's missing one "." (...---..). Probably meaning, they wish to call for help, but they can't actually do that, that might represent someone or the society, smt like that. • The sound from the very beginning, he's saying smt but it's played backwards, which actually is "I think kindness is what we all need, after all". • That part that sounds like "Get it, get it done", the caption in japanese actually says "Giri Giri dance". It's really hard to translate that sentence, but to brake it down: "Giri giri' means "barely", "almost too late", "be on the edge of", smt among these lines. So let's say it's a dance of someone who is MENTALLY on the edge. But also, the singer actually sings "Get it, get it done"(like in English), so probably means someone that's mentally on the edge but still needs to get things done. ALSO, it sounds like "get it, get it down", which we can interpret like "take that lead off your shoulders". These are SOME of the meanings according to japanese comments (and the singer actually confirmed it too). It's an interesting song with A LOT of meanings behind it, so I couldn't write down ALL of the meanings, but I felt in need to share at least some of the meanings. Hope my explanation were clear lol

@@Keyden-mj3guYes, but SOS is English, not Japanese, and the “…ーーー..” also changes to sound like “di di di da da da di di” in the English version so it is very obviously meant to be English morse code and not Wabun code.

I feel like as someone sho listens to a lot of japanese music (especially vocaloid tbf) idk if it’s because I am interested in the right artists (its probably partially that) but there is a LOT of social criticism in songs. Atarashii Gakko has multiple songs with this kind of meaning iirc. Also one song that went viral and if I remember correctly had a cool meaning is Habit from Sekai no Owari, if you are interested in listening to more like these I would recommend it. Another artist I love is Queen Bee, they have an amazing voice (their first take videos are godsent to me) and even if it’s not only about social criticism they also have great lyrics. Another artist with an INSANE voice is Ado, her song Useewa also has some social commentary, even if it doesn’t seem like it at first glance. I leave these recommendations just in case you are interested in diving more into japanese music :D I also wanted to say, this is just my personal opinion grounded in just observing so take it with a BUCKET of salt but I do think that since japanese society is very strict with complicated social rules, in art a lot of people find a place to release that frustration and there we find a lot of social commentary in songs because of that. It’s like a way to release that social tension for some people, idk tho! It’s just a feeling I get. Sorry for the long comment lmao, great video! Loved your reaction.

Critic of society, politics or whatever you can think of, had been part of music since millennia, but since the commercialisation of it those themes have been greatly pushed back, by either simple entertainment songs or people basically complaining about their live. And that's where platforms like nico nico or KZbin come in, where people can make music without having to be tied to some music label by a contract. Here people can write whatever song the want. Be they good or bad.
@woefulnix

@@alexiosblake9804 That makes so much sense actually, because as you said, I've seen horrible songs with meanings I dislike a lot from places like niconico or youtube, and some of the most meaningful songs I've found are also from there by anonymous songwriters.

I can't decide what's best in these type of japanese songs either the deep story they present or the catchy soundtrack or lyrics they do. Their artists balance it so perfectly

i feel like "save this game, mr. A" is mocking the main character for being an exemplary student in school that gets all a's but not making him as good at socializing and expressing himself enough to break out of the "disease" the modern day has to offer.

It’s a story of stressed salarymen. “Get it get it done” = make a sale or you won’t get anything done, thus they turn it into a music video to sing their hearts out.
@3nfferr

No, the song seems to generally be about social anxiety and people pleasing. Recalling embarrassing moments that trip you up. The individual with said anxiety wants to get the job of socializing done, and adapt to their surroundings, laugh without caring, and stop using their phone more than going outside (You see these scenes in the video, for the boy & other boy & girl). In the exact translation of the lyrics from a certain part, It says: “let me hear your heartbeat ringing like . . . - - - . . .” Thats morse code for SOS. Its the social gathering panic.
