It'd be super cool to see a video on upkeep and maintenance on your existing bowl + vase scapes and if you have livestock in them and how much? If you run across another bowl or vase, it'd be awesome to see you set up another one and then maybe do some maintenance/ 1-3-6 month check in as shorts or something.

I’ve got an intake sponge on my canister and have a small population of shrimp in my community tank. I cleaned my canister the other day and found 4 or 5 shrimp in the bottom of the canister one was the biggest shrimp I have in any of my tanks. Conclusion the shrimp really enjoyed living in the canister for a few months.

Hi, Checked the shrimps this morning, another shrimp gone - so far 2 shrimps passed, out of 10+ shrimp, This is the 5th day since I got them in the tank. Is this normal rate 🤔 or something is off with the water parameters, consistently checking ammonia, nitrites, nitrates level they are at 0ppm and pH is stable at 7.8-8 Temperature went down from 23C yesterday morning to 21C this morning, is this a major change for the shrimp? Only major change I did was, put cuttlefish bone and drop algae wafers last Wednesday.

Hi, i set up my 60-liter tank for a month and put 30 of the blue dreams in my tank a weeks ago. I just saw yesterday most of the shrimp dying. Im not sure if those shrimp sick or poor quality from breeder. I check water parameters, ph 7.6, ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0,nitrate 0,gh 8,kh 5. I really dont know what happened. So i gonna try to use active carbon and see how it's going. Can i ask how many active carbon should i use for the 60litres tank? Thank u so much.

I think adding carbon is a great idea. It will pull out anything in the water that is affecting the shrimp. Would love to hear how you get on 🤞🏻

Today at noon my neocaridina shrimps were gathering on sponge filter and media bag of aquarium started dying, shrimps legs and moth become white, water parameter and temperature was ideal. I have no clue. Please suggest what to do.

do you suggest using a filter in a shrimp only tank over not using one? I believe in another video you said an oxygen stone suffices?

Personally, I don’t tend to use filters in my shrimp tanks. Having a filter makes life easier, but it’s not essential (in my opinion) 👍🏻

I have a Neocaridina shrimp tank. It has been thriving for years. The shrimp were breeding like crazy crazy and all seemed well. Last weekend, i turned on the aquarium light and was shocked to see most of my shrimp had died ?????? The temp was good, and PH was around 7.5. I still don't know why this happened 😕 😢

All valid points, good stuff. Have been trying to figure out my reds, newish tank but looks good. Carbon is great choice to flush unseen contaminants. I typically use as a last resort so I won’t disrupt the system and kill good bacteria.

I ordered a small colony of 8 blues online and now that they've settled in, I can confirm that at least 5 have survived and are looking fantastic. But I worked HARD to get a matured biofilm and tank while I was cycling. I know I have at least 2 absolutely beautiful males and one probably b grade male, plus at least 2 super gorgeous Def grade A big females. Is that enough for a decent start of a colony or should I order another group? I do have guppies in the tank as well but they're not bothering the shrimp at all that I have seen. It's very heavily planted and lots of java moss. Also a full cover of floating plants that my shrimp love hanging out on.

Sounds like the start of a great colony to me. I wouldn’t add more yet, just give these guys time to get up and running. If the tank is well planted, you should get a good crop of babies survive 🤞🏻

@@FishKeepingAnswers they were getting sucked up in the intake on the filter. I just sat there one day and watched. So I ordered a sponge to cover the intake part of the filter.

in my experience, fidgeting with the tank does more harm than good. also, i started to embrace algae when I realized it is a great food source for the fry. maybe add some floating plants and java moss for cover. do you know if there is a good ratio? mix males and female so their population increases rather than decreases. they usually die every now and then ( they're sensitive to temp changes) but the thing is to have them breeding like snails that you wont even notice)

@@Alhabeeb43 I agree completely. I was having problems and in retrospect was over-cleaning and micromanaging as well. The water itself may be perfect but all the hardscape, plants, and tank itself could be "too clean." I've found adding Bacter AE is an amazing way to increase biofilm and algae. Now my 10-gallon tank doesn't look "show quality" but I went from 4 shrimp to nearly 50.

@@jpjugo3026 another cheap alternative is to finely grind community flake food and sprinkle a tiny bit in the tank. You'll get biofilm and algae on the glass in no time 🙏

Green fungus can be really hard to treat. Out of interest, where are you seeing the fungus? On and around the head or under their belly?
