Bro you’re exactly right. It would be so incredible to see some of these rappers who have great music actually perform it. It could be so incredible. They could easily do it it’s just kind of lazy and disappointing.

Rappers want to pocket the money, rather than create a good show. Most don't hire a band or have a screen in the background to see them from afar. You are definitely correct with the karaoke. Also, I believe their recorded songs are so overly produced that when they try to perform live, they don't sound like the record. It's honestly pathetic.

they really be on stage with 50 other people(who nobody knows recording them) not even really putting energy into the lyrics. they just be there with the actual song playing. not the instrumental they have exclusive access to. its like some guy got his Spotify on. I went to a rock/metal concert, and the vocalist actually sung live. crazy how rappers dont even have to practice pitch and still cant manage to memorize their songs enough to go with the instrumental on stage

This is why Busta and KRS were so highly rated for their stage show. I think it may be due to the Jamaican sound system culture they came from. Last concert I saw was Buddy and he was sick. Rappin his ass off, singing and stage presence was live jumpin into the crowd and shit. It was a cheap ticket but a good one lol.

I like to think of myself as an open musician. Go to all kinds of shows. All genres are going through some kind of live music regression. I haven't been to a show where the crowd energy matched the show on stage. The panda fucked up everyone's social queues

I havent been to a rap show since 2019. It was my 7th time seeing Wiz. Not that I didnt have a good time but it felt very less authentic than when I saw him in 2011 and 12.

The verse-chorus-explosion/hands up demands-next song(repeat to fill a 25 minute set) is infuriating. That was problem even going back to the 90s. Method Man/Redman and the Roots are probably my favorite acts that didn't do that.

Rap shows are awful...and the reason is pretty clear. Rap concerts are essentially karaoke concerts. I am a rock guy and a trained musician...but I do like a few rappers and have seen some of my favorite guys live. They were dreadful. I saw Snoop when he had a live band...and even w a live band, it was awful. On a lot of tunes, he would only do his verse, chorus, or whatever part of the song he did on the studio version. Rappers aren't musicians...u can even call them singers because they don't have to sing in key or really think of pitch. It doesn't translate to the big stages. It just doesn't. Again...I call them karaoke concerts.
