Immigrants are leaving at a record pace, yet our population grows at a record pace, despite a poor birth rate. We should be looking at the correlation between carbon emissions and population growth. What’s the point of taking money from Canadians with a carbon tax, when population growth creates carbon emissions?

Why isnt there ever a focus on making the natural born population's birth rate to increase? Not full blown nativism, but there doesnt seem to be any focus on this whatsoever. It always seems to be reliant on immigrants to increase the population completely. Its insane. 98% of the population growth last year was because of incoming residents.

Its the replacement agenda
@kaankanca463414 күн бұрын
Because immigrants can work right away and people born in the country need ~18 years of investment and care (from the gov since education and healthcare is funded by the gov) before they enter the workforce. And people don’t pay taxes if they don’t work.

Maybe that "Top 4%" is the problem. Prioritizing the importing of already wealthy people means many come to Canada to *extract* wealth via well-paid jobs and "investing" in real estate, not actually productively contributing to our economy. Canada needs to stop spending so much effort and money trying to attract foreign "investment" and divert it to supporting Canadians instead (e.g. incentives to get more youth into trades, STEM, healthcare, etc. so that our own kids can find secure jobs, instead of so many going to LMIAs and TFWs).

They got wealthy of the foreign aid we send them.
@lynb1022Ай бұрын
@@AndrewDhaliwal-iu1ws that's not how foreign aid works. "Foreign aid" primarily goes to the Western companies & NGOs that go into other countries to "restructure", like with implementing "structural adjustment programs" (SAPs). Search "The Economic Hitmen" (a 2 minute cartoon) for a summary of John Perkins' "Confessions of an Economic Hitman."

If they are receiving wealth through a well paid job aren’t they contributing to your economy? Would you say a Canadian born doctor, lawyer, or skilled manager is contributing to their society or are they also extracting wealth? The real problem is the low skill workers who take away from the overall productivity of the economy and create barriers to young people to enter the job market by taking low skilled work. The government is not helping either by requiring the high skilled workers to work low skill jobs to gain “Canadian Experience”. There are different programs that the government offers to wealthy people. They all require significant investment to enter. I have a friend who’s family made a 250,000 dollar investment in around 2016 (not real estate), to be able to get a PR around 2018. They rent, work, and pay taxes. If they need non-urgent healthcare, they go back home for the doctors because the wait times in Canada are so high and the treatment of patients are better in foreign private hospitals. So they don’t even create an increase in healthcare demand. This has been the case for most rich immigrants I’ve seen. The low skill, diploma-mill, nephew-of-whoever, immigrants that come in are the real consumers of government aid and they are the ones working under the table, lining up in front of food banks, and allow people to charge 700-1000 dollars for a single bed in a room in the basement.

@@kaankanca4634 How does any non-native (to any country, not just Canada), whose primary motive is to EXTRACT wealth "contribute to the economy"? Absolute false equivalency with doctors, etc., who provide essential services to citizens. Your friend's family might very well be nice people and productive new Canadians but they still essentially bribed their way in, again demonstrating that there is one set of rules for the wealthiest anywhere, and another set of rules for the rest of us. 20+ years ago some of us were saying that selling-out Canada to the highest bidders would eventually come back to bite us in the @ss, and here we are. Enjoy the encampments. We agree on the diploma-mill imports; but I remember the days when "low skilled" immigrants came here (many of whom I called friends), and weren't so self-entitled to believe that people born & raised here should pander to them. We need to bring back those types who actually helped build a better Canada and teach us things about their cultures (instead of say, fraud), instead of treating us as their personal doormat. As an aside, there's a great CBC doc posted here a few days ago about the Burger Baron chain and the Lebanese immigrants who expanded it, very entertaining.
