I am at 81-year-old male that was born in Brooklyn and have been a fan of pastrami all of my life. There is a significant difference between Katz’s and a pastrami sandwich served with Havarti cheese. You do not get a cheese pastrami sandwich in Katz’s. You do get cheese with a Reuben sandwich and you also get Russian dressing. I imagine it’s whatever floats your boat. I now live and have lived in Palo Alto for the last 50 years. There is a pastrami desert here. I have to go to San Francisco or berserklyto get a decent pastrami sandwich

I’m Miguel Barrios, my father is Spanish and my mother is German - I live in Germany and you always succeed in transporting me to my beloved Spain! Especially with the live tapas crawls during the pandemic.😀 Keep up the good work!

Always thrilled to see a new video on this channel and what a bonus, Yoli's back! 🥰 We missed you. Thank you both for all of them, you've enhanced my trips to Spain immeasurably. I've even started Spanish lessons recently so i can improve beyond my current 'menu Spanish' !😂

Ok, New Yorker chiming in here. That pastrami sandwich looks awesome, but can't really compare it to the classic New York version. They're re-grilling the meat, throwing on tons of other stuff/cheese. A classic jewish deli Pastrami after all it goes through is sliced, put on rye bread and has brown deli mustard. That's it. In this case you're eating something totally different, a newer evolved Spanish/NYC hybrid. Looks fantastic though ;)

Hi James and Yoly - I love this video! I've been watching your channel for a few years now and I genuinely think that it's one of the best food and travel-related channels, not just in terms of content, variety and information, but also fun. Too many KZbinrs spend their time trying to look and sound totally serious about things, or too hyper and "super excited" (as an English teacher I really want to inform them that this is not how to use the word "super") and it just doesn't work. You two clearly really enjoy what you do, and enjoy spending time together - you are fun and interesting to watch. And yes, James, you ARE both fascinating :-)

Always great to see Yoli, your other half. She must be quite busy with Lucia, the two’s and three’s are very emotional shall we say😉. James, wonderful tour with some delicious dishes, thank you for taking us along.💕👍

This market looks amazing, and it alone is a reason for me to go back to Madrid soon. I have only watched the first place in your video yet, and its bringing back good memories, from many years ago, where I had empanadas for the first time (when I was learning spanisch in Madrid). I look forward to enjoy more food online. Thanks James and Yoly.

My best food experiences have largely been in Spain... that isn't to say i haven't eaten great food in many other countries...but the originality and execution of food - from Spain and from all over world - that I have eaten in various Spanish cities is extraordinary. I've had steak like no other in Madrid and Malaga...Sushi in Malaga that that was on par with anything in London or New York...Indian food in Madrid that was the best I've eaten...Chinese food in Madrid and San Sebastian that was unbelievable. And that's not even talking about the tapas and seafood I've had in Seville and Malaga or the extraordinary pintxos I've eaten in San Sebastian and Bilbao...or the Michelin 3 star restaurants in San Sebastian and Madrid that are the best example of that type of food I have ever eaten. Spain is - imo - the best food country in the world...the only thing it lacks (or i havent seen) is top quality Malaysian, Thai or Vietnamese cuisine.

We love you, James and Yoli, but your comments on NY pastrami are way off base. To be clear, rye bread must accompany a pastrami sandwich. And, putting cheese on it is definitely unacceptable. Katz's Deli is delicious and NOT dry. Will you attack the NY bagel with a schmear next??? Now, my husband no longer has a mega-crush on Yoli 😂😂
@jayzucker301312 сағат бұрын
As the aforementioned husband, let me take the unusual (and dangerous) step of disagreeing with my wife. My crush on Yoli does not die so easily (even though I did ditch my first grade girlfriend for the unpardonable sin of putting ketchup on her scrambled eggs. Ugh.) But for you to proclaim that Madrid has the best pastrami in the world after one visit to Katz's and one cheese- drenched abomination of a sandwich ludicrously squeezed onto a baguette (ugh again) is the rankest kind of cultural arrogance that we New Yorkers consider our birthright. Did you order your Katz's pastrami lean in a misguided effort to make it more healthy? A knowledgeable New Yorker goes with full fat, with a side of clot busters in case a chunk gets lodged in their aorta. Did you go back to the counter and tell the nice man that your meat was a tad dry? Clearly not, because you made no mention of the thrill of flying ass first through a plate glass window. But I digress. The bottom line, though is that I won't go to a diner in the Bronx and have callos slathered in ketchup (ibid ugh) and say I went to Casa Toni, found their callos to be bland, and tell everyone that the Bronx is where to go for offal, and Madrid for awful. Besides, between just us, the best pastrami (called "smoked meat") is at Ben's in Montreal. Now that's a sandwhich.

Before my wife and me moved to Spain (Jerez de la Frontera), we lived nearly 8 years in Thailand. For us the local food is blande. Often too salty and herbs and spices are used very greedy. We think that Spanish food abroad tastes much better than in Spain (for us), because abroad they are using spices and herbs. But good to know that at least the people of Madrid are now learning how good food can taste if you use more ingredients and that a bit spicy food doesn´t kill you. Our favorite kitchens are Thai, Indian, Lebanon, Syria, Arabic in general, Mexican, Indonesian.

So you mean cuisines that kill and mask the real taste of food by stuffing it with all kinds of spices and herbs, right? Judging by your "spicy" taste I get your unfortunate opinion about Spanish cuisine. Thank God many of us still have Spanish cuisine... in Spain, of course!

@@rsnankivell1962 If you order a steak with potatoes, broccoli and a sauce, put a piece of all of this on a fork and in your mouth, you have a mix of all the different flavors. @rsnankivell196211 сағат бұрын
@cnxexpat1862 In Spanish cuisine, recipes are not overstuffed with spices and herbs, but are added in just the right amount, that's the difference. This way, a much more balanced taste is achieved and the flavour of the raw material and all the ingredients is better savoured. And the diner's mouth doesn't go completely numb with all that spiciness.
