Why are the Aztecs ranked so low in the NET rankings?

Last NCAA tournament they could have probably gone deeper like elite eight and final four if they didn’t have to play UConn in the sweet sixteen.

Jon, exact same thing happened to me. Checked multiple times, still 2024 then literally around 40 was like I must have have missed them and scrolled back. Glad I am not the only nutter around :)

Dec 14, 2024... HOLY COW JON, did you see the game Lamont Butler just had vs Louisville ? 33 points, on 10 of 10 shooting from the field, including (6) 3-pointers, with 6 assists & 3 rebounds !

Yeah we shouldn’t lose our minds over a now 62 NET ranking, but it hasn’t been the easiest “poll” to make huge movements in. Yeah you can move up 10 spots but it’s hard to make 40 spot leaps, at least historically.

NET rating isn't the only pill that doesn't think much of the Aztecs. Comparing before and after the tourney I think the KenPom rating moved only 2 spots. Seems no one thinks the Aztecs have proven anything but that the teams they played were overrated so those teams were penalized. The Aztecs still have a lot to prove, some polls are ranking the only fourth best in the MWC.

Byrd was on the championship runner up team, he was just redshirted after 4 games that season. So I’m guessing he has a final four ring? lol

The NET rankings are confusing. I would have bet SDSU would of been top 20 in the NET along with a top 15 AP ranking. I don't understand any of it?
