Your information is incorrect from wherever you got it from. The veiling was a mystical interpretation associated with the Gospel which, *in former times* was read on Passion Sunday ( John 8:59), in which Jesus *hid himself* from the rage of the Jewish authorities, and now hidden from the world in preparation for the mysteries of His passion. So the statues are covered from the 5th Sunday of Lent and remain covered until the beginning of the Easter Vigil. When images are unveiled before the Easter Vigil, we are reminded that we, in a sense, live in a veiled world. It is through our own death that we are able to see our true home, and the veil is lifted. Christ lifts the veil through His Resurrection.

brother very touching explanation. but I want to point at 1 linewherein you said covering to focus on the mass. is it to practice only during or before easter or all days when we attend mass our focus to be on jesus. so why not give up idolatry itself ? .

Statues ? Covering ? Is it biblical ? Beware viewers. Pray for bro Mario too as he is a nice person. Sadly it seems that he is into a trap known as " the catholic church ". Since when are Christians celebrating the passover and resurrection with lifeless statues. Beware all viewers.

Is Martin Luther your idol ?who REFORM the Christ Church? How many times did the Holy Bible says not to divide? statues depicted our Lord and our brothers and sisters ( saints) who went ahead of us only and not like following some other IDOL. Sacrifice was already done but still we have to eat the Lamb to get forgiveness of sins, you are most welcome to the Catholic Church to celebrate the body and blood of the Lamb. (It is in the old testament also). Its not that Jesus died for us and we can keep on dancing, it is incomplete.
