This brings back some good memories. I’m pretty sure this training mode is what really helped me to understand Street Fighter’s combo system better in general. Guile’s Double Flash Kick into punch super was always the last one that I would complete, I couldn’t stand that one, lol. But I’ve definitely grinded this whole mode through a few times- it was always fun to complete every time :-)

One of my favorite street fighter games, terrible graphics but I loved the gameplay. You could cancel so many moves into other moves. And yeah the trials mode was impossible, I gave up & unlocked everything with gameshark after playing it on & off for over 10 years.

I'm proud to say I completed SF EX2 Trial mode with everyone. Failed on the bonus trial where you must kill with combos tho.

SF EX2 trials were a lot more difficult. I especially hated the Excel mode combos, some of them including crazy "half-step" cancels

So I'm not the only one. I found Ryu's last trial incredibly hard because the direction the opponent would fly in after EX Tatsumaki was random (at least it seemed random, I couldn't figure it out), so you may not be able to do EX Hadouken right after it.

SF EX was completely underrated. Could have been a hit game if the timing was different or there was less competition. But when it's up against Alpha 2, Second Impact, XSF and MSF, KOF, Last Blade, Tekken 3, MK4... and console games like FF7, Goldeneye, Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid... it had no chance to shine. I still had fun with it though

I used to play Zengrief while i was in brunei for my 1 year overseas national service tour in 2000. Owned every ken ryu etc. His spd has amazing distance and if they low kick and you are just outside their hitbox, you can spd them straight. Even when they jump kick you can also do that. It was like KOF95 when Goro was op.

The best Street Fighter games for the PS1 are Street Fighter EX1 and Street Fighter EX2. The rest of the 2D Capcom fighting games on PS1 didn't play very well because Capcom didn't play test the PS1 versions of 2D Capcom-related fighting games and the PS1 was a 3D powerhouse and it didn't handle 2D games very well. For examples, the PS1 versions of X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom 1 were really bad because they lacked the tag in and out your tag partner feature. In other words, Capcom rushed the PS1 versions of their 2D fighting games because they weren't play-tested before being ported to the PS1.

Had to use special controler with auto fast-mode buttons to clear bison's trials on PS1. Could never manage the tight timing for 2xMedium Punch into Medium Kick consistently otherwise. Also no internet at the time so it took me weeks to figure that for some combos you needed a cross up jump, hold super and stuff like that.
