I thought the SF1 "secret" was going to be "Dude, you just mash the joystick 1/4 circle back n forth really fast while mashing punch. Sometimes you get a dragon punch, sometimes a fireball." The engine of sf1 only reads command at regular intervals. So you have to do the motion matching the engine's speed. Can't be too fast nor too slow.

The motion inputs are the same in Street Fighter 1, it's just that they are so precise to do, so for shoryuken, you HAVE to end in down-forward and let go of the button, otherwise it won't work
