When I first watched this I was concerned but after having a hamster, omg; they do randomly pause and stare into space like this. Belen Bargas YES. Sadly the cage in this video is way too small. Funny video but the cage 😕they need 450 square inches of floor space. (Easy to do, lots of people just get 50 gallon storage bins and DIY a cage lid.) they need deep bedding for burrowing and a good sized wheel and lots of hides and tunnels. They do indeed startle easily so you should never pick them up from above, always place your hand next to them before picking them up. I had a Syrian. They're sooo cute!

This comment made me so sad cause it’s true. I have never thought of getting a pet hamster and never planned it but my gf got a dwarf hamster for her children as a birthday pet but me having so much respect for animals (and I don’t even specially like hamsters earlier or had any experience with them or wanted it thinking they weren’t that knowing) What happened is he showed signs of not even liking the children since they’re to loud and noisy. I am up all night and he likes me more so I take care of him and started loving him and understanding that they are way more intelligent and smart than we give them. These animals are not for children or even teenagers they are seriously more intelligent and clever than dogs in many ways. I love him and I never try to make him out as a toy and never let the children just play with him. I give him his space and as much freedoms as possible, always thinking of what seriously can make him the most happy trying to think ahead and not neglect him. Trying to learn as much as possible as to know how to make his life as good and happy as possible. People should stop thinking of them as children stuffed toys and they should stop being advertised as such, it’s horrible. I love him and only feel satisfied if I know that he is and is as happy as possible. These animals get depressed if they don’t get much care and love, they can’t only have basic stuff they need new toys and wood things to chew on, their houses should be made for them to be happy as and not shaped like things that we might think is funny, it’s just stupid. I love these special animals and hope they stop getting bred for the wrong people and that it’s species existence get adopted to the right adults. Thanks for people who actually cares about hamsters.
