Why Are We Still Waiting on THESE Marvel Legends Villains?

We need a new Super Villains wave or box sets like the upcoming Spider-man villains set. One for the Fantastic Four, One for the X-Men and One for the Avengers would be big help. They could be exclusives for different online or big box retailers. It's probably the only way Hasbro could get several done at once.

That's a solid idea too. A FF villains box set would be a good way to get Wizard, FF versions Madusa & Sandman and Paste Pot Pete. And maybe they could add a FF Crystal for a hero to add in there. For the X-Men...I'm always gonna go with the Marauders -- Scalphunter, Arclight, Harpoon, Riptide, Vertigo, Prism and Blockbuster Avengers -- Masters of Evil - Skurge, Melter, Swordsman, Yellowjacket II and Fixer

Your list is pretty good. I've always been more into X-men than Avengers but EMH gave me a strong sense of appreciation for many of the villains I did not know too well. Some characters I really want are Goblin Queen, Deathbird, Exodus, Steel Serpent and Owl.

Thanks! EMH was gonna stretch into the X-Men in Season 3 so I'm so blown that never happened. Goblin Queen is one of my favorite X-villains. I'd be down for an Inferno box set with her, Sym and Nastriah. Exodus and Deathbird would be fun figures and Owl seems like he'd be really easy to make right now.

My list: Gabriel the Airwalker; Stingray, Jack of Hearts The U-Foes (Iron Clad, Vector, X-Ray, Vapor), Soviet Super Soldiers: Retro Crimson Dynamo (with the iconic, bullet shaped helmet!), Vangard; Frightful Four: Wizard, Kirby-style Sandman and Medusa, and Trapster; Inhumans: Crystal, Triton, Gorgon, Kharnak; Count Nefaria, Graviton, Swordsman, a decent Kirby style Hulk, Marina (Alpha Flight), Carrion, Madame Masque, Retro Quasar, Attuma, Spider-Slayer robots, etc. How about an actual Sam Wilson retro Falcon with his actual costume??!! Or a classic Iron Fist and Powerman? Powerman was one of my favorites, and I loved the tiara and open shirt look. He was so damn bada$$, he could pull that look off! I also would like to see never versions of the Wrecking Crew, or some of the Masters of Evil like the Power Man, Living Laser and others. The "retro" version they gave us recently isn't like any version of Falcon that I ever saw! It's like the people at Hasbro never read comics before 1992! There are so many great characters from the '60s, '70s and '80s that just get completely ignored!

That Retro Falcon was sooo disappointing! You've got some must have figures on my list too! I'd love to see Jack of Hearts. I really enjoyed the Geoff Johns run with him sniping at Ant-Man all the time. I really want a classic Crimson Dynamo. I didn't even bother building the Black Widow wave one cause I didn't want to be that disappointed again. I'm not sure I was more disappointed with a figure more than the Jason Wyngarde in that Wolverine set being based off his modern flashback stories instead of the colors he actually wore during the Dark Phoenix saga.

@@LylesFigureFiles You and I seem to be of a similar age, and we both seem to like the same era of Marvel. I just know that there's no excuse for saying that a figure is the "retro" Falcon, when his costume isn't at all right. Hasbro just wanted to do a cheap figure reusing existing parts, and that's just not good enough. They already cut corners on paint, and they don't do much in the way of accessories, yet they up the price on figures. When you do that, you have to up the quality and value to justify it. Corner cutting is not upping the quality and value. Other action figure companies--far smaller companies--are still keeping their prices down, and they deliver much more for the price as well. My big gripe, though, is that we get dozens of Spider-man, Wolverine, and Iron Man while many characters have no figure to represent them. Poor Gabriel the Airwalker. Second Herald of Galactus, yet nothing. The U-Foes haven't had any figures either. Nor has the Bi-Beast, Glob or many of the other Hulk villains that are always neglected. Sigh.

@@lostonwallace1396 I've been wanting to get a Hasbro upgrade on that Toy Biz figure for a minute and it still feels like I'm gonna be waiting for a while. Exactly. It's not like we have no idea what they're doing. Before it felt like they did those little things right to make the best use of available molds appropriately. Now it seems like they're missing those more than they're hitting. I get keeping the heavy hitters in rotation -- they could widen their outfit choices better instead of using the same costumes repeatedly -- but they're holding back some parts of other figures to make improved versions later, which ends up taking up slots for other characters.

At this rate, they should probably do a Bring on the Bad Guys wave every year and that would sorta help us get closer to getting most of the villains I want ;-) Swordsman, Melter and all those old school Avengers villains are definitely on my wishlist. Hasbro did a Mole Man that doesn't look too bad years ago. I don't have him, but in a pinch I'd track him down. Marvel Select would probably do Blob just fine. Not like he needs a ton of articulation.

We need villian waves designed against specific heroes and their teams. Avengers - Titania, Absorbing Man, The Wrecking Crew, and BAF of Goliath. Fantastic Four - Frightful Four, Moleman. Doombots and BAF of Dragon Man. X-men - Avalanche, Mystique (not an exclusive), Destiny, Toad, Pyro, Mastermind and BAF of Blob. Let's put these teams together in a wave and not scattered years apart.

I'd definitely get behind that idea Gary. There's so many great villains that would work with some decent crossover from one team/hero to another. I think they just need more focus on sticking to one team and then moving on to the next. If they'd kept bringing in a Serpent Society member or two every year we'd have most of the heavy hitter/essential members now.

I'm hoping a few of your choices appear in a Retro Secret Wars wave in 2023/24 for the 40th anniversary. I'd love to see Molecule Man, Titania, and Volcana get their first figures along with a classic Captain Marvel (Monica) and reissues or resculpts for The Wrecking Crew, Hawkeye (need that retro version), Wasp, Magneto, Prof X(w/o the wheelchair), classic Cyclops and Rogue. I wouldn't mind them doing a new Constrictor, Daredevil, Falcon, and Iceman in the line to match the toy releases. Also I'd love to see you do a list like this for all the main ML lines: Spider-Man, X-men, Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, & FF.

I totally agree. I started reading Marvel comics in the early 80’s. I associate Marvel characters with that timeline. I would love to see more accurate action figures that resemble the characters from the official handbook of Marvel Universe, Deluxe Edition, 1985.

Mephisto missed my cut simply because the Marvel Select one is fine for everything I'd have him doing. I wouldn't say no to his figure, but it's a case where the MS version is really well done. Vengeance definitely needs an upgrade. What don't you like about the comic Hela?

Great video and even better list - I think we may read the same comics. In 2021, there was a Bring On the Bad Guys wave I thought would be a concept that Hasbro would revisit once a year. At that time I composed my BOTBG waves (w/BAF) for 2022 and 2023. I excluded Mephisto because I didn't want to waste a space on wishful thinking. Wave 1) Mandarin, Wizard, Trapster, Gladiator (DD villain), Avalanche, Whiplash (aka Deathlash) with the BAF being Attuma. the Deluxe figure would be Skurge the Executioner. Wave 2 would be Swordsman, Molecule Man, Diablo, Mesmero, Count Nefaria, Gravitron, Nightmare with the BAF being Man-Ape. If this was popular enough to also get a deluxe box set I would make one with Red Ghost, his three Apes, the Mad Thinker and the Android.

Personally I don't want them to do anymore figures, villains or otherwise, till they learn to get the ones they have right. They put Molten Man and Firelord on the Sunfire buck, which makes no sense, as these are tall dudes, not Shang-Chi/Spider-Man height. That last Sabertooth they came out with....I don't know who that is, but it aint Sabertooth, he never looked like that. They just announced a cyborg Silvermane, but his head on the old ultimate Beetle buck from 9 years ago. Pulled the old Terrax BAF out of the attic, no updates, no detail, nothing, but selling it like its a new thing. That Tigra they finally made. Gave her neon orange paint. WTF. Siryn, but no sonic scream. They really do some crap work on their female figs. Their female figures have minimal articulation, they don't scale properly with the male counterparts, and overall they don't have the iconic look of the characters they're supposed to reflect. Hasblo continues to use these gummy legged, flat, anorexic old figures, and stick them on almost every female character they do. They don't seem to grasp that different female bucks are needed (Volcana there is a great example, they don't have a buck for her and probably won't ever make one).

I very reluctantly got Tigra even though I was very disappointed with the mistakes that could have been avoided. And Molten Man really should have been on a bigger body. I haven't gotten the new Sabretooth but I don't know if he's a drastic upgrade over the Toy Biz one, which isn't a favorable comparison for Hasbro. It's wild that the female figures are slightly better, but they don't utilize a better variety of molds for the different statures of MC women.

I really don't know much about the Marvel Universe.. just a little on the main noted ones like Hulk Spiderman Wolverine etc... young I really mainly read Spider-Man Love Punisher that was my favorite... then Batman became my #1 read comics and G.I Joe... currently love the 4 issues so far of Punisher and I wouldn't mine getting the new logo figure and a few The Hand red ninjas and a few Greece inspired Spartan gold Helmet villians... such a cool start to the Punisher. And yes still prefer comic versions of action figures over movies... besides Batman movie figures which I like

This was a big factor in my decision to move on from legends to other lines were over 10 years in and haven't even completed the brotherhood of mutants but we can literally get multiples of characters like Korg .........jack of hearts wizard count nefaria unus the untouchable MAGNUS MOSES molecule man trapster goldbug RED GHOST there's literally TONS of characters yetsbro gave us Silverman's which I did that customer when I got speedball cause I hated the ultimate beetle outfit (I ended up getting another and painting it in the original beetles colors and it turned out much better) molten man which is meh at best I think it's lazy af another spiderman repaint razorback.....ok and human fly which was the only figure besides Howard the duck I was even considering getting

I really think the biggest issue has been the constant retro waves, which are smaller mostly and of course lack the BAF reducing the number of characters we're getting. Molten Man is such a disappointing repaint when there's plenty of better bodies to use for him.

Other villains I badly want, and I know some of these have been made already, but they either need a re-release or an upgrade: 1. The Mole Man 2. Ronan the Accuser 3. Mephisto 4. Princess Python - hell, we need the entire Circus of Crime, but I like her the most 5. Hela 6. Annihilus 7. Nightmare 8. The Mad Thinker and his Awesome Android - I always wanted him to slide over and become a Hank Pym villain. Hank needed another super genius arch nemesis (sorry, Egghead is pretty weak sauce), and the Android could actually match Goliath in size and strength. 9. Madame Masque 10. Crimson Dynamo (classic)

I get not wanting to cannibalize sales from the MCU version so I think the right approach would be to reveal the prototype of the comic version when the movie featuring the MCU character/figure hits Blu-Ray/streaming. That way comic fans know it's en route and on the radar.

My man, your list is absolutely SPECTACULAR! I agree with every choice you made! A few things I have to speak on however; Attuma should on no less than the Omega Red buck. He's 6'8. Skurge is 7'2. He could possibly work on a buck similar to Death's Head 2 or Ares. In any case, he should be bigger than Thor. Titania would be easy now that we have the She-Hulk body. Graviton & Nefaria are also easy (The Sentry comes to mind). You mentioned the Mandarin as the (not so) PC pick on this list. I have an honorable mention I always wanted to see/have, M'baku the Man-Ape! Runner up (and admittedly more of T'Challa's rival) Killmonger. He'd look great on the Hercules buck. Again, your list hit everywhere!

I wish I got as hyped for all female characters the way I was for Spiral but most of them only get the minimum. A little paint, MAYBE a belt. They almost never get unique scupt for their bodies, they are the cheap inexpensive one that makes up for the male figure with a few more bells and whistles. I'd love to see her but I don't have high hopes, even if they did her, that they'd do her right.

I’m definitely in for a Maximus, but I need to see the rest of the royal family before I can really get behind him. Wizard and Trapster would get me about as close as I’m going to get to having the characters from the mid 70s Roy Thomas/George Perez/Joe Sinnott story arc with the Frightful Four, Thundra, Tigra, Impossible Man, etc. Asking for the Brute, Captain Ultra, and the Texas Tornado would probably be pushing it. 😛

Mardarine is offensive, end of sentence. I wouldn't want them doing Slowmotion or Whitewash Jones from back in the Timely/ Marvel Comics days. They can update the character and get rid of the racist facial hair, keep him Asian like they did in the movie, and him appealing. I think the 90s cartoon Mandarine might be more palatable and since there are two Asian men on the Hasbro team I trust them to get it right, especially Dan.
