15:46 - My goodness, this is relatable. Hate waking up to pee, must clear as much as possible, if I don't, my mind won't shut up about it. I also stop drinking water 3 hours before bed just to be safe.

Love love love this topic sosososo much!! I was so into rem sleep the past year , I calculate what time i shld wakeup (inc. time taken for me to sleep ideally if it’s a 23:40 video, my stop playing is at 24mins !! Making my view/listen counted ❤ Reduce lights everything is dark, cool your body down could be by drinking cold water! No vigorous exercise 5h before bed!! But don’t ever give up finding your own routine. It takes time, patience, and love to yourself okay be extra nice for yourself , to yourself forever ❤❤ I am how discovering what is grounding currently i’m just touching a appliance that is on my bed, with the adapter on the floor unplugged (my science and english not that fantastic) . I slept really well (xiang) … don’t know if it’s psychological though but am gonna try tonight!!

I have the ocd when setting alarms too so can relate lol. Always worry that I set pm instead of am cos it’s happened multiple times before and I didn’t wake up for work/school in time…

I had pretty bad insomnia after head injury back in 2014 when I was in sec4, only able to fall asleep in the morning when sun rises. I didnt further my studies as sleepy deprivation was pretty bad. which only in the recent years especially after circuit breaker, I finally managed to finally sleep well and had long hours of sleep. I would keep track of what time I go to sleep and what time I wake up, but I kept it in my phone notes instead. there are days I only managed to sleep six hours and on some days I get ten hours of sleep. and just last year I was told I have pituitary gland damaged. doctor insisted it was due to having it since birth but I believed it was due to the accident as back then my leg muscles became soft. in my mid twenties, finding out im not the same as everyone else. all these podcast in the recent years became my favourites as I would watch, listen and do up my planner at the same time.

So night owls are a real and natural thing. I'm one of them. My body likes to sleep in the day and stay awake at night. Even if I'm tired at say like, 7 or 8pm, if I endure, stay awake and get past this, I'll be wide awake from 12-3 even 4am. So you can imagine the sleep debt I rack up if I don't force myself to sleep at night. And even if I've had 7-8hrs sleep in the night, if I continue to lie in bed, I'll easily fall asleep again and can sleep all the way until 9, 10, 11pm. Of cos, assuming I don't have to get up to go to work and all....nothing requiring my attention, I can sleep all day until the next day. I think I really am a cat if I don't have to work.....LOL. The more I think about this, the more I'm convinced that we should have some kind of segregation. We have certain job roles that require day and night, and as we all know, companies will rotate their staff between the shifts. But since we know that night owls are a natural thing, is it then possible to hire night owls for the night shift since they're actually more productive at night and the pattern fits their bodies' natural clock? We can cut down on the disruption that is caused to the body when a worker has to go thru changing shift patterns every few weeks/months. Also, we'll need to design purpose-built homes for these night owls since they'll need quality sleep in the day and we all know how noisy it can get in the daytime. Reno works, children playing, neighbour's baby crying etc etc. I'm also just like Nic, in that, caffeine has no effect on me. When I'm sleepy but need to stay awake, I do drink coffee but it's more a case of psychological "play". The coffee doesn't work cos I'll still be just as sleepy after drinking it. But I use it as an opportunity to drink coffee since research has shown that 2-3 cups of coffee a day is beneficial for our overall health. Of cos, watch the sugar. I don't like sugar or cream in my coffee. Give me a double espresso anytime, or at least an americano. Just don't add anything else. Same for my tea. And I prefer tea. Black or green. Again, for the health benefits. Now I sound like a health freak....lol...

28:45 are there any advice for healthcare workers that are unable to escape this cycle of night shifts and AM/PM rotations? realized that the inconsistency of sleep schedules has definitely taken a toll on my body
