@@lloydwilliams4368 that is to Golf Magazine’s shame. There are tour players gaming Wilson, especially irons but also wedges. Brendan Steele is one, and he recently won the individual LIV Adelaide event. The 2 youngsters who won the Good Good tournament also play Wilson. And there are a few KZbinrs reviewing them and gaming them too. Would be great to see you keep gaming them Alex and give them some limelight. Help the Wilson Staff renaissance!

I love Wilson irons. In the US they are treated as a sports manufacturer vs. A golf club manufacturer. Mizunos, Taylormade, Titleists, etc. will be considered more desirable in the US anyway even though that makes no sense. I hate saying this but the UK reviews tend to tell it like it is though a bit more long winded. Thanks for the wonderful review of a wonderful iron set.

Alex, I had the D7 Forged two generations before the Dynapower Forged. I loved them felt great but wanted something a little more precise. Switched to the JPX 923 Tours, big difference the Tours are tiny in comparison and very punishing if not hit out of the middle. I am now gaming the Staff CBs and couldn't be happier. Much more forgiving, I think feel better and absolutely beautiful. They are a club shorter than the D7s but are also a club weaker in loft, so there you have it.

My first ‘proper” full set of irons were Wilson Fluid Feel Blades and they were stunning. I changed to Mizuno 30 years ago and played various Mizuno sets ever since. (921 Tour currently) When I change the current set, I need to try these based of course on performance but also a little bit of nostalgia for me and completing the circle ⭕️

As a Wilson fan I am playing the D7’s and now the Dynapower forged for summer. Wilson wedges are v nice too. I would play these 5,6-PW , I have other clubs for distance. Anyone can play these blades as long as the correct shafts for each individual are available. The price point is their marketing. Yes! Best review of this iron out there in real turf and course scenarios. You were not too harsh right on the button. The Wilson marketing is different to other leading manufacturers hence no noise. It must be said that Srixon Japan marketing in Asia is very different to the US or UK market. The hype for the similar Matsuyama styled Srixon Z-Forged II was off the charts on release in Japan but very quite in US and it is the best blade iron out there imho in terms of aesthetics anyway. These have those aesthetics and more. The trick is to match them with the right shaft and grip - for me that would be KBS $ TAPER 120 stiff and Lamkin crossline full cord 2 layers tape. My setup would be Callaway AI SMOKE triple diamond 10.5 degree Stiff shaft Wilson Staff 8802 revision 2023 blade putter then into the 2 iron right through to gap wedge in these mb irons, wedges will be zm 54 with 8 degree standard bounce and the full face lob wedge with 6 degree bounce…hows that for a perfect setup? I know the old Wilson products very well cos I played my best amateur golf off 2 handicap back in the mid 90’s with Wilson gear. Even had a majetic 1200 LT laminated maple 3 wood that was out of this world good. I would be the perfect player still playing decently off 4 handicap that would suite this product to a T. Love the fact they do 10 irons from 2 through GW. Had a close look today at the zm 54 degree wedge and it is a very appealing product both aesthetically and performance. Yes, we have to take Wilson seriously now…The driver and fairway woods need improving but the rest of the gear just as good as the top boys now. Thank you so much for your exceptional review and opinions….always a pleasure to get your expert opinion on these A+ type products.

I don’t carry a 4 iron anymore. I play “players distance” irons. Forged, tad chunky compared to pure blades. But I have the same issue. I hit my 6 iron in the 185 -190 carry stock. The 5 is 190- 200 ish. The 4 iron is roughly the same. Now I can hit them further but I feel I can’t swing them the same as the shorter irons. I tend to choke down to make sure I make good contact. This naturally changes, speed angle etc. so I carry a 4 hybrid and sometimes a 3 hybrid. Those carry the perfect gap distances. 200-230 with the 3/4. Can cut them draw them etc much easier than the 3/4 irons. Lost the speed I had 15 years ago

Forged irons always seem to have that crisp solid strike that feels as though the club has stuck on the ball giving that beautiful sound. They look divine and as you say off centre hits will affect distance which is why I think they are aimed at the better golfer. I agree the price is great as the other companies hike up their prices as they sponsor so many pros they have to get the money back somehow! Great in-depth video and if I was looking to change wouldn’t hesitate to try these. However am sticking with my srixons for the time being.

I have played some of my best golf with Wilson clubs over the last 30 years. The best part is I typically save hundreds of dollars over my Taylormade, Callaway and to some extent Cobra clubs. You can pick up 2023 Staff CB irons new for under $500. That never happens with the other brands. I’m am confused by the constant complaining about getting the same distance with a 6 or even 7 iron as a 4. Just don’t get the 4, 5 or 6 and put something else in the bag to fill any gaps you have. Realistically if your hitting your tee shots and are not inside 200 yards your playing the wrong tees. A scratch golfer is going to get his irons loft and lie tweak to get the right numbers anyway. You might also make the case that there is something to playing one length clubs since they’re sized around a 6 or 7 shaft length club. I like my one length Cobra’s but I still use standard length wedges because they usually involve less than full swings. You might say I play Two Length irons. I have found them easier to play earlier at the start of the season because I’m limited to 2 swing paths for my irons.

To cameron; fitting for the most part is a scam. Unless one is an elite player. Most people who are fitted can't break 80. Fitting is, for the most part, a sales technique. I like Wilsons. Wilson doesn't have the sex appeal of a Brad Pitt or George Clooney. It's the Robert Redford of golf clubs. A little more marketing muscle and placing this in the hands of Scottie, Xander or Rory and for sure these will fly off the shelves. Like Redford, he'll produce a film or star in it every now and then and it seems to be nostalgic and will come out with a blockbuster.

Looks very much like the Wilson Staff blades made back in 60’s and 70’s, including the black plug in the end of the shaft. They were the clubs used by most of the best players back then. But there was no offset and the top line was like a butter knife.
