One thing you didn't consider was kids. Many guys coming to the Philippines already had kids or don't really want kids at this later stage in life and know that getting serious (or married) with a young (& hotter) woman from the Philippines practically requires that he will also have to want to have kids together. Maybe those older guys with less attractive women are aiming for what they need--a woman with adult kids or one who is past the age of wanting kids or one that just doesn't want kids in her life and there are far fewer women available who fit into one of those categories that would be considered "hot". Also, one more thing--maybe the less attractive women are easier to get along with compared to the very attractive women since those women have plenty of "options".

Every one has different tastes.. and maybe they feel the "less" attractive women will be more faithful and maybe are less high-maintenance.. can be many reasons why a guy or woman chooses the partner they do.. the main thing is they are both happy together.. they do not need to make anyone else happy..

I lived with my Thai girlfriend, 24/7, for two years before we married. For me that has been a comfortable vetting period. I did essentially the same with my first girlfriend/wife in the US. We were both living together as students while going to the University of California, Berkeley. We married shortly after graduation. My Thai wife is no runway model but she has great eyes and a great smile and a figure I’m attracted to but maybe isn’t conventional beauty. Of course her Thai friends say she is ugly and I am handsome but that is in part jealousy and, I think, that woman everywhere seem not to know what attracts men. I see plenty of western/Thai pairs that defy the narrative of coming to SE Asian to find a young beautiful wife yet I also see how happy these couples are. There is so much negative bias towards westerners going to Asia to find wives when the reality of what that means is so pedestrian.

Great video Paul, I've 65, average looks, I don't class myself as a catch. Over the last 4 years I dated 2 girls that were 9's , very attractive, but both ended . I must admit I'm now concentrating on good heart and personality than looks, I believe some of the beautiful girls want to push the boundaries because of attention they get , it causes them to dream , particularly in my case where both girls were from very provincial areas and I exposed them to city life of Cebu, Manila. They certainly changed over time.

Very common indeed. I would say the lack of experience is a big part in addition to lack of self esteem. It takes some time for the guys to realize what they can get. When I first came in the PI I couldn't believe it too 😂

They say, never judge a book by its cover. I have certainly found that to be true over the years. If you really think about it, the most successful people walk around looking like average to below average people...but are judged to be both unsuccessful and unattractive/undesirable. And as they also say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I prefer an average looking Filipina who is financially stable, carries herself well, a home body, are kind to others, and has a great personality.

What you think ia ugly i may find beautiful. Personally, i have always been drawn ot women that have a "flaw". Perhaps a small scar, one tooth is a bit crooked, etc. I know several guys who think their wife is hotter than the sun. But i find them to be far less than plain. So if a guy is with a gal that you find unattractive, he may be thinking the same about your wife too. Be glad that we all like different things about people. And if that other guy is happy with his gal then he probably finds her to be extremely attractive to him. Maybe she is such a aweet and outgoing person he always wants to be with her. So, regardless of your, or my opinion of a gal that should not be our concern. Just be glad for the couple that they want to be with each other.

Paul, I believe that one reason is low self esteem of many men, another too old and dating a younger woman, is already a 'win' for them, another 'bad experience' with beautiful/sexy woman, which is good for having 'fun' with, but not marrying to, because other men will pursue her and if you do not 'keep up', you will most likely lose sooner ort later. . An 'average' woman will most likely to be down to earth more, be able to cook a 'good' meal and be less demanding.. .and maybe a few more reasons . I will rather have a woman who is cool, honest and down to earth, than one that is gorgeous but is ugly inside, for a long relationship/marriage that is. If you have 'experience' in life, then you will understand and of course nothing is 100%....and one can fall in love with a 'good woman' that is not the most beautiful in the bunch, as long as there is some attraction to begin with.

To be more specific, I get what you are saying about not using the dating sites but if I can only spend a few weeks per year there it seems like using the site to line someone up would be the best approach.

He didn’t understand how a foreigner with above looks and wealth would settle on an older woman with four kids. Hey Paul you got it all wrong. Maybe some guys finally figured it out. It’s the character that matters not their looks ,tits, butt. Your very shallow. When I was younger I lived in Hawaii and had the best looking woman on the North Shore with killer bodies. They turned out too be nut cases, Lacking character. They were into drugs, alcohol and were not faithful. So In conclusion most good looking women are high maintenance , and the rest are mostly keepers.

Hiya Paul, I know a German woman who worked,had businesses,staff etc in the Philippines for 32 years. Her views was there are some good women here but they are rare. Some are probably ok but they let themselves down with their litany of up to 20 bad habits: *trying to take advantage, *lying *using you *letting U down *having too many kids, *looking for money *pressures from the family *being unreliable *having a husband or a boyfriends *unreliable *hiding things (including kids,about themselves,their families) So if a young western guy meets one who doesn't 'have too many of the bad habits" they might stay with them for a while. I know where I'm going - Vietnam.And apparently it's more fun too. 2nd in Asia and 5th in the world

When I was a young buck a good friend of mine was dating probably the most unattractive asian girl I had ever seen. He looked like a young Paul Neuman so he had no probably getting women, so I asked him why he was dating this unattractive girl when he could date beauty queens? His answer was simple...he said he never had to worry about her cheating on him as she wouldn't get tempted by other flirting guys out since she knew she wasn't pretty and secondly she understood she was dating outside of her league, so she worked extra hard to keep him. After I got to know her a little more, I actually found her to be more attractive physically because she was such a kind and caring person towards my friend. I think they dated for about 4 years before he moved to his next military assignment stateside. So, the morale of the story is looks aren't everything and sooner or later most of use will lose our good looks. I know I am not the strapping young man I once was and the caliber of women that I could once command is probably past, but I am sure my financial status takes me from a 5 to an 7 or 8 (lol)!

That’s so relative. Maybe the girl is ugly or not attractive, but she is sweet and kind, and she treats him as he always wanted and she cooks tasty treats and all. Will he give her up just because other men don’t think she is attractive enough? I am not in the Philippines defending myself or my choice but it’s my general opinion.

Yes, in the west we slowly become invisible to anyone under 40 ........and it continues to worsen until you are completely invisible by 65! That and a bad marriage with eventual low esteem will cause the reaction of undervaluing yourself when you first arrive in PHP and start looking for someone to settle down with. By this time you are so out of touch with how to date that it can be very difficult or overwhelming and are happy to pick up the scraps offered by anyone showing affection.

I agree with your video. But there are variables that are at play for some of us at 65 years of age. Thats performance. It may not be for some but many of us have a issue with this. Im good for 2 or 3 times a week. My last gf wanted it 5 nights a week an she eventually left. So can anyone comment on this?

You bring up a good point. Seen many videos of western guys with less than attractive women. I have a hypothesis about this. Many men, myself included are far from retirement age. We also don't work online. Looking at the dating sites I see two types of women. The ugly and the attractive but child ladden. Lose / lose proposition for me. I have yet to visit out there but when I do, may have to cold approach. Certainly can't be any worse than here in the US. 🤕

Attractiveness of men is mostly OBJECTIVE. Attractiveness of women while 50-60% objective, is quite subjective. Since men are generally less selective/picky than women (and for many other reason)

I am not there yet. I have found that beautiful women have physical and emotional problems. They are hit on by nearly every man. They tend to not have to work for anything. Beauty is skin deep, ugly goes to the bone. I'd rather be with a woman that is a 6 or 7, but is a beautiful woman all around.

I am sure you are correct that having the scarcity mindset, being beaten down, and having low self esteem are reasons men date unattractive women in PH. Part of it might also be that they find the woman more attractive than the average foreigner would. However, I don’t think that explains it all-at best, it might account for 20% of the reason. With the above in mind to set a common starting point, I want to propose two other reasons a man might date a less attractive woman than he can. (1) He may believe if he selects her, she will be more faithful because she will realize she most likely will never do better than him and (2) he may want something out of the ordinary from a woman (perhaps in bed or otherwise) and believes that she might be willing to do that for him since he is such a good catch for her. I will not comment on the wisdom of this approach one way or the other. I only say that it is a logical reason a man might date a less attractive woman than he can. And, “less attractive” can mean both physical and situational (kids, family support, personality, etc.).

Hence A lot of these guys will just take what they can get , you have to search high and low with no guarantee of success especially these days

Hey Paul great video as always !! and totally agree why settle for a 3/4 out of 10 in the Philippines you can get that in the USA and West ! set yourself higher standards because your worth it and as you say all western guys are top feeders ! Just because a woman is a stunna does not mean they dont have a heart or substance , just think as you say guys are scared to punch above there weight due to how they get treated back in the west !! I want to set the record straight. I did my undergrad at the University of Indiana. I wanted to do further education at Notre Dame but I couldn’t afford it. They wanted $60,000 US per year. So I talked to the Navy recruiting office and they agreed to pay my university costs at Notre Dame if I gave the Navy 4 years. So at the U.S. Navy’s expense, I completed my Masters and PHD at Notre Dame. I then entered the Navy and completed 4 years service. In the Navy, I worked in the area of hospital health care administration. I was 30 when I left the Navy and walked straight into a hospital CEO job in Chicago. From there I spent 25 years working as a hospital CEO and President in places like India, Hong Kong, Bangkok (2 different stints over 6 years), Manila (2 years) and Phnom Penh. I finished up my career in Dubai and retired from there in September 2022 (my Filipino girlfriend Sheila is still there as she works as a police officer there and has done so for 6 years). My next hospital posting after Chicago was in 2008 to a hospital in Cambodia. I was offered Jersey City and Cambodia. When I arrived in Cambodia in 2008, there was only 4 paved roads. Somehow in the late 1990’s, I also first visited Cambodia. At that time there were only 2 paved roads. I spent one year there then. Also, somehow despite being in Cambodia, I still managed in the 6 years up to 2010 to work as hospital CEO and President at a hospital in Bangkok (before transferring to Hua Hin). I earned $500,000 US for this and my apartment was 1,200 square feet and only cost $300 which my employer paid for. I get confused about this but the hospital had between 16,000 and 100,000 employees. Between 2008 and 2010, there was political unrest between the redshirts and the yellowshirts. Supporters of the military blocked access to the hospital and demanded money from people trying to enter the hospital. I arranged that over $1,000,000 was paid to allow people to enter the hospital. Then a reporter from the Bangkok Post came to see me. I expressed my frustrations to them. Then the next day, I was featured in a front page article in the Bangkok Post. As a result of this I was arrested and taken to jail. I had never had so much as a parking ticket before this. I was initially put into a cell with about 40 others. I still don’t mind pooping in a bucket because of this experience. I was then put in a cell with a notorious Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout (even though I know him personally, I pronounce his name as ‘bowt’ when everyone else, including him, pronounces it ‘boot’). Vicktor is known as the Merchant of Death. I spent 21 or 22 days total in the Thai prison and in that time I went from weighing 240 pounds to 182 pounds. I wouldn’t have minded the diet of rice and cucumber soup but I hate cucumbers. The US Government then arranged my release and a one-day visa for Cambodia. After travelling from Survarnabhumi to Phnom Penh, I returned to the US where the first thing I did was eat some Taco Bell. The Thai government blacklisted me from visiting Thailand but this was lifted after several years and I have returned several times since. After my Taco Bell, I didn’t stay long in the US as I had a hospital CEO placement at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong. I was in Hong Kong from 2010 to 2012. I had a car there but could only drive it to work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays due to the vehicle having red registration plates. I had to catch public transport the other days. Parking fees were more per month than my condo cost me when I lived in Dumaguete. I get a bit confused but when I lived in Hong Kong, I either had a 250 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment which cost $4,000 US per month or a 376 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment which cost $3,000 per month. During the 2012 to 2022 year period, I worked in the other places I have earlier mentioned. I also visited mainland China on and off for 6 years. In 2021, I spent 9 months in Cambodia, 2 in Phnom Penh and 7 in Siem Reap. I bought a Honda CRV when I was there which I had to get the windows tinted to the darkest tint as I kept getting targeted in a made up offence scam by the corrupt Cambodian Police. My fluent Khmer was of no use when trying to get out of paying the police fines. I only lost a few hundred bucks when I sold that Honda. I still have a car stashed away in Dumaguete which I will have to deal with upon my return to the Philippines.
