I guess he would have said, that not he, but you were the only one preventing you from taking your own life. Any love and admiration you feel is love and admiration for your own capabilities and acceptance of your own being. I find it helpful to let that sink in, so I can remember that when it doesn´t feel like that at all.

My notes on this: When someone does something 'to us' or we perceive some hurt inside of us, ask ourselves why we are hurt? who is hurt? the ego is hurt. We cannot be hurt in our essence. If we focus on why someone is behaving in a certain way and/or trying to blame or attack them for it we lose sight of the true lessons that are inside of us. The 'other' person is only an extension of ourself and is a great teacher about ourself, we just have to pay attention to within. May all beings be happy

Other people can no longer emotionally hurt me. Yes they can kill me, cut me, burn me, etc. But the key for me to giving up emotional pain caused by other people, was no longer caring, not even a crumb, about other people's ideas & opinions about me. I was lied about by a so-called family member & other people bought those lies, even though I did nothing wrong. In that experience, I realised it no longer mattered what I did, how well I behaved, how much I did for others, it would never guarantee safety from other people's negative opinions about me. The other key for me, was to stop trying to control what other people think of me - whether it is good, or bad. Just let them choose whatever opinion they want. It's their business what they think and that's the same for me, I choose my thoughts and opinions too. You have to allow other people to think whatever they want, and not care about the outcome. You can still prefer them to think well of you, but it's not required.

@@venudoddavarapu9186 This is my interpretation of this. Thoughts have a place only when there's inattention. Thought is nothing but the replay of memory - movement of time. Thought has an image about oneself and clings to that image. When this image is shattered or accepted, we experience hurt or flattery respectively. Ideally if we live without the psychological time, we are free.

He speaks in circles. It’s evident that the ego gets hurt but no one can live without an ego. The question is, how to bring the ego under the leadership of the true Self which cannot be hurt. Being present helps but also if one is truly present with their pain, they’ll have to feel the pain. It’s an unpleasant experience and maybe that’s a start, feeling it but not identifying with it. Easy to say, hard to do.

I think how Krishnamurti explains that by giving all your attention to what someone says, without any images of how things should be, how you should be, how people should behave towards you etc., completely negates you being hurt is what follows after realizing/feeling for yourself that having any kind of image/expectation how one should be/should be treated etc. automatically results in a chance of being hurt. So basically having any kind of expectation about oneself, others, life etc., expecting things to be a certain way, continue being a certain way etc. will result in becoming hurt/upset/angry/insecure/scared etc. So once you realize that having expectations will cause you suffering you will drop them forever, like seeing that the stove is on and hot; you're not going to put your hand on it willingly, are you? This doesn't mean you won't try to do the things in life that you enjoy and be apathetic, but you will have no problem (fear, anger, disappointment etc.) if something doesn't work out.

The suffering in the world lays on absence of a grat teachers (ofcourse the root of suffer is the ego but only teachers can help end of suffer), and our hearts withdrew into deep darkness. Summary: he means by attention : awareness. (Inattention = unaware, unfocused ). Don't take any shape and do not build a self image (eg: I am not like this or that, I am like this...) and be aware of this. If someone said something and you are hurt or flattered , be aware about this and be aware of your thoughts and about what there are in your subconscious. Give your thoughts attention and see why your are hurt. You will realize that you are hurt because you have created a self image.

Amazing speech. Cant believe I came across this video exactly 1 day before seeing a girl who I truly love that made me feel emotions no other person could trigger. The relationship felt like an awakening experience from the very beginning until now. We haven't been talking for over a month because I didn't treat her the way I was supposed to and let her down and not a single day has passed without thinking about her. I really do hope what Krisnamurti is saying is right and will have it in mind the moment I see her again, that: "Can you give your total attention? If you do then there is no hurt. Firstly - hurt cuz of Self Image (When something is said contrary to the image that you have of yourself). No Self Image, no hurt. So, give it your FULL ATTENTION (to what the other person is saying (judgement)). Then no inner registration and hence No HURT. Have no conclusions, no prejudice, etc... (all these are images.) Same thing with flattery as with hurt. The past hurts are gone (in that attention). ATTENTION is like a flame, it burns out the past & present hurts.

Being alone is a struggle,it hurts. Therefore I'm not paying attention while alone. Therefore i struggle. But i am alone, this implies something missing. It must be an oppirtunity to find something within. I do fel a lack of energy and need to escape, from the hurt. I find motivation not in myself, but those i can't imagine life without. I need to improve my drive. My biggest flaw is self doubt, and fear comes from that. Self doubt comes from comparing lives around me. This is a design. To understand life is to appreciate art,even when its not clear.

This goes back to JK’s “Freedom from the known” where he calls out the “ trap of respectability” When someone calls you a fool and giving full attention setting aside the image you have for yourself is similar to sitting in a classroom and listening to a lecture where you don’t have any knowledge of the subject the lecture is on. You analyse the lecture in your mind with out prejudice, or guilt or ego because you want to learn. My attention: So If i was called a fool i would analyse and accept there are many instances in my life that i was fooled by someone or i fooled myself with words or thoughts or actions. my ignorance of how fickle or greedy or prejudiced or hateful my human mind has put me in the situation of being fooled. So why should i be hurt when someone calls me a fool? Is it me who who has set up with all kinds of greed, prejudice, and ego for being hurt? I am better off unlearning greed, prejudice, hate and start wiping off those images of self that cause hurt.

What I understood from this video is...if we understand our inner self well enough then nobody's word can hurt us. If we focus on the lesson derived from someone else's act rather focusing on the superficial consequences we will not get hurt by their acts. Outer influences only can enter within us when we are not content enough from within keeping the ego aside.

There is great pleasure in keeping them because that gives you vitality, energy to hurt somebody else. My ex boyfriend did this to me. I couldn’t put into words and kept thinking why he hurt me. Now I understand that he was hurt too from something which he never really gotten over it.

@@fubao99975 yes dear, he hurt me not once, he left me to get married twice. I forgave him every time he came back in open arms without calculating his mistakes and behaviour. Now is the third time, time to let go. I can’t take it anymore, my spirit have gave up but it’s imp for me to forgive him so I can move on in peace.

In my awareness today; it’s a cycle that has been going on since the beginning of time. Parables are often misinterpreted or understood. Jesus came to show us exactly this and why Thou Shall Not Kill. When Jesus said I didn’t come to bring Peace into the world I came to bring destruction he meant…. Within your own Linage; the hurt for which I laid down my life freely to show you the way. Many have sadly failed to see this. Thank You Father Bring Me More

I imagine a treasure box that is locked with all my emotions inside..all events..my whole life. When needed..I open it with care, look at what I need to, then put it back, locking it up mentally. Then I move on💜

Its the 'transformation of impressions.' The impressions in and of themselves are inherently neutral. We give them a value, like he says because it clashes with an idea we have of ourselves of of how we should be treated. If the consciousness is asleep then we will always be reacting in a mechanical way. We dont have the Being incarnated, we have an inner multiplicity (ego) and this is the cause of the pain and suffering.

I feel it's like being humble is curing the hurt. Not in a way that you are agreeing with the disrespect but in a way am I this much significant so all this could not happen to me. I am everything and nothing and this makes me free. Cus in the end we are just spirits without any form. Just a part of the universe.

I am hurt because I have certain image (a set of ideas) of myself. I give full attention to my Hurt ......that means I fully attend the Hurt. In that instant, my full attention is entirely devoted to my Hurt. At this point, there is no resistance in me. Resistance only comes from my image of myself of which I am not aware of when I am in full attention of the Hurt. Try this with someone who hurts you. Make them sit in front of you and give full attention to them (lose yourself completely in them). Thank you, JK!

I want to be hurt, by the right things in a right way, so it improves me helps me glow and grow, become a better human, kinder more joyous, supports my heart and soul, softens me and makes me a person i like looking at and can appreciate. And I wish to be spared pains that make me become something I don't like being. :)

I have been in New York City once standing by a car waiting for someone. Suddenly a group of Afro Americans across the street started throwing eggs at me. My whole attention was completely absorbed in dodging incoming eggs. I have seen a trajectory of each flying egg and none was able to hit me. After wasting several eggs, homies walked away without any further escalation. I did not feel any fear, anger or other negative feelings or emotions during and afterwards that incident. There was no me, little self or ego. Just pure vivid and sharp attention laser focused in present moment.

Ok, this took some time to land. But I think I get it now. I have an image of being nice and helpful and one says something to the contrary, I am hurt. But if I give attention to this moment in which I am hurt, instead of being hurt, then it´s gone. It´s like watching a horror movie without the sound. It is all a bit silly then. I see myself react a certain way, but because I am paying attention, I can just register it and not let it out. I can probably see the intention of the other better that way and I am communicating more effectively.

@@nikitanehete9034 Don't pay attention to speech that is only intended to hurt you. Instead, pay careful attention to your own words. You're responsible for your own speech only. Truthful lips endure forever. Pleasant sayings are like a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and a healing to the bones. Proverbs..... I hope that's more helpful

@@nikitanehete9034 paying attention means you are fully present there. You as a consciousness is present there . Whatever it is you give full attention to has no power over you(to hurt you or to belittle you). Your Consciousness(you as a soul) is so powerful that it cut through and dissolves everything negative . It is really Powerful that is why it is said to be in the present moment always.bcz present moment is where the consciousness remains and is alive . But we either live in last or future.Ego lives in past or future. And that's how we cause sufferings and Karma's for ourselves by collecting negative Karma's (hurt, pain ,all kind of trauma etc.) Why is that so? It's because as we live in pas or future ,we literally go unconscious (just like we are deep asleep). Bcz our consciousness or awareness is not there is the moment ,if consciousness (we as a soul) is not there in the moment then it's the ego that is active (which lives in past and future) thus unable to let you focus in present and thus we unconsciously create all these pain trauma's and suffering for ourselves bcz our consciousness is not there to protect us. So always live in the moment to be happy healthy and peaceful. Bcz present moment is all that exists rest is an illusion (ego mind/conscious mind). When you live in the moment,you are completely thoughtless because you are embodying your real authentic self(higher self) that you are. And that's where your power is. Ego is here to make you suffer. So listen to your higher self(consciousness) and live in the moment so that you don't suffer ever and be in your authentic self.

I was hurt because I did everything they told me to do, and punished me when I didn't... All for an industrial complex society that pumps out factory workers instead of individuals. And most of those thing's have held me back as well instead of doing my own thing. But that was then and this is now, yaknow? Contrast is key to a objective experience.

I still can't imagine how one would feel about oneself or function without an image of oneself but i can see how the image is causing the pain. Plain and simple. We all basically have a good image of ourselves. We have this need to be a good person. Stepping out of that image is one thing. But we can atleast see how that image is causing problem
