Every time I think, I should donate my old Anime "how to draw books", the good ones that had random factoids about what the clothing is called, like the many parts of a kimono and so on... I'm reminded that with how much AI slop is out there, if for some random reason I'd need, "what is this anime trope called"... Where those books perfect? No, but as a tool, it does its job. One book I have is about business attire. Sure they're from the 80's-90's fashion, but again, it had the parts named. This is exactly why I went to Cara. No AI images, no ads, just pure art and genuine human engagement instead of bots. As soon as something goes commercial, it goes to shit. That's the one consistent factor in every "fallen" platform. And the problem is that going commercial is effectively *essential* because the majority of a userbase isn't going to be willing to pay a bill just to use a platform, and if paying once and never again doesn't have any "punishment" (none of which would be well recieved anyway) then there would be no incentive to "pay rent". Even Discord, with its paid features, has to rely on sponsorships just as much if not more than users.

Same! as soon as I went to Cara I had so much human engagement and it was genuine constructive feedback and real engagement, I have never experienced something like this on Instagram or twitter before, since It's usually just bots or meaningless comments that are trying to farm followers on insta/twitter. I reported a bot and scammer on Cara and they were banned literally within minutes, the platform is absolutely insane!! It's the only AI-free space I can still use for reliable references and inspiration.

Cameras already do this, putting all kinds of info about the camera model and even geographic location(!) In the metadata, so it's very much possible...

@@chances3163for learning anatomy less a collection of poses, Michel Lauricella’s MORPHO: Anatomy for Artists is my favorite one. There’s a mini versions of the MORPHO books which fixate on something specific, whether it’s animal drawing or quick anatomy tips the smaller MORPHO books are also pretty valuable. I haven’t used it in forever, I’ve not had time for art practice at all (I’ve been very depressed lately) but when I do and have used it, it’s a fantastic book. Highly recommend

Asides from the AI issue, my biggest pet peeve is the search bar. I will search up "horse art" and the first 5 pictures might be horse art, but after that its just a bunch of BS I didnt look for. And dont get me started on the amount of suggestive art on there, I ALWAYS get soft core 'corn' reccomended, mainly when looking up drawing references of women. Also, you cant even look up 'girl sitting reference' since theyll assume youre a gooner, and just no images will pop up. Pinterest is also aware of the suggestive content problem, cuz when the show me "ideas you might love" in the "female art" tab the thumbnail is literally blurred and given a suggestive warning (you can see this at 11:57 too)

I've hidden a couple ads that I didn't like before, and every time there's a pop-up that takes the ad's place that says *_"Insert brand here_* paid to have this ad show up where you'd be more likely to see it", basically proving to me that the ads aren't there because they're claiming they're trying to help you find things related to your searches, but rather because advertisers are just trying to show you random ads for products or services you couldn't care less about solely because they're hoping shoving it in your face more will make you go "oh yeah I'd never heard of this luxury hotel chain before, I should totally go there when I'm done looking at ideas for furnishing my RV/Apartment that I don't have because the economy is so bad that I haven't even managed to buy a car yet!" I found it helps if I search for sketchbook inspiration. There's less ai slop. It is near impossible to search for topics like anime art, carton style, etc. The search results are just ai garbage. I would say this is good time to grab up a few art books that teach color theory, anatomy, etc. I've found they've been very helpful. It is also helpful to draw from life as well.

The worst part is you can't even completely trust physical art books! 😭 I've seen multiple videos of people buying art books in a rush, just to get it home and realize that it's a scam... There's a chance you do get AI generated photos that are hard to differentiate at a glance. Either that or you're good. If you found that, Hiding image and then marking it as low quality makes FYPs somewhat good for avoiding AI art. That's what I do.

The way to get AI off your feed is to hide the ads and ai images. Just report them or hide them and tell Pinterest you don’t like them. That’s how I got ads off of my Facebook feed, I just kept reporting ads constantly, and it somewhat works on Pinterest but it’s so laborious.

Been using it for almost ten years now. Have a ratio of 5 ads for ONE pin. Plus the algorithm flag problem is killing me ! Why do I get real corn on my feed but a dress on a plastic manequin is flagged as adult content and deleted ??? In the last month only I've received more "We had to delete one of your pins" emails than in the first 8 years using this platform... Honestly, I didn't mind at first this change because I only used Pinterest for shitposting, but when I saw an AI-Generated slop game ad on MY feed, then I realized of how shitty their ad moderation can be. The Videos were AI-Generated bunker bases slides that completely looked fake, the playstore's app icon is AI-Generated, the THUMBNAILS "Day X of the apocalypse", ALL of them I mean it... ALL AI GENERATED. Checking the reviews, I could see that even if it had a higher 5-star rate, most of the popular reviews were around 1 to 2 stars saying it was a complete P2W cashgrab strategy that was very low-effort, and the game being completely different as it had "levels" and "heroes", according to them, Besides many people finding the bad reviews useful, as it was clearly seen that they were mislead and it's not a bunker-building game. Moral of the story: Pinterest shows no regulation against AI-generated/assisted content, and neither their ads.

I dunno if Boolean logic works on Pinterest but when searching on google you can try adding “before:2022” or add “-aigenerator -generator -midjourney” if you resort to searching on google.

This thing that annoys me is that when I view a specific content in Pinterest for a long time- Like Roblox or fanart about a topic I like. Since I look at it so much Pinterest thought “oh wow! This person must like this content a lot! The crazy thing about the ads is that I would LITERALLY pay for a premium Pinterest plan (assuming it's not like $15/month) because Pinterest is so valuable to me as an artist. I use it all the time for outfit design/inspiration for my characters... The ads and the AI flood is absolutely ridiculous. My new year's wish... Less AI! And prosperity, of course.

I changed my location on Pinterest to Russia which doesn't allow those white dot ads inside posts trying to sell you similar clothing to images because it annoyed me so much. 10/10 Id recommend. It doesn't erase ads completely but this made it a little more usable for me (edited bc I remembered the country)

I still use pinterest for like again, art inspo, style inspo, saving kpop idol photos for references and much more. Heck, I even use pinterest as my wishlist: it tracks the manga volumes and kpop albums that I wanna get. I was so dissapointed while I did a huge cleaning of my lists and had to remove so many AI generated images, bc I didn't know that they were AI-generated. Now that I can spot them better, I try my best not to check any of them out, but it's difficult ngl. I use online version of pinterest, so idk how much it differs from the app form but yeah, even tho I do hate the raise of AI and ads on it, I cannot stop using it yet since it's free to use so yeah :/

Here are a few suggestions that have assisted me as an Artist, in my navigation on Pinterest: -1) I use terms like 'reference' and do my best to stick to what are clear tutorials, when I need such things -2) When I need art reference, I try to be as 'specific' as possible. Sometimes, I will find a handful of artists on a standard search engine and then look for those names on Pinterest. I find, the more specific terms I use, the better results I have. (I also look up what appear to be actual human photos for physical reference, and not the ones with overly perfect lighting/settings, as the AI images tend to have) -3) If an artist's work is not credited, I copy and paste the image into a 'reverse image search' on google. If nothing comes up, I can usually assume it's an AI generated image. Mind you, these options may not always provide the results you're looking for, but they at least assist me when I am using the current version of Pinterest.✌

one of my biggest personal gripes is people using pinterest as a place to 'archive' problematic art. NO i dont wanna see sh/ta art because I looked up "chibi art styles" or "2000's scene art style". This is heavily in reference to the recent trend of people 'archiving' a certain infamous artists work on pinterest, I cant even look for cute artstyles there anymore cause their crap is bound to pop up in the results.

Something I never see mentioned is how their automated flagging/take-downs for posts are so much worse now. I had a pin of fish tattoos that got taken down for SH a single day after I successfully appealed it 😭 The appealing process is so annoying on its own too bc they won't show/tell you what they took down and don't give you any place to make your case for why it should stay up. So with the seemingly more and more careless automated flagging system they have, it feels like anything completely in their ToS have a chance to get taken down. I feel like I have to export my pins regularly just to be safe. I used to never get falsely flagged on my account and even when I did, it would be rectified easily and not get the same pin flagged after getting successfully appealed...

Over the past year, I reported over 50 images that were obviously AI. I reported them as Spam, since that seemed to be what the Community Guideline they violated, and Pinterest did nothing for any of them. Each report came back as "Not reviewed. No action taken." So it's not even that AI has taken over Pinterest, it's that Pinterest does not care.

Pirating games is also stealing but the original copy is still there. the loss here isn't the physical or digital copy, it's the potential of making more money as they sell less copies due to stealing.
